Was it deliberate ?

Up to the Leeds game things were looking good, only a few points to catch up, then complete capitulation.
Was Scotty using tactics, and picking teams to fail,  so that he would be sacked ? If the Bournemouth rumors are true  could this be the case ?

RaySmith

Yeah, of course, its true 064.gif

Bassey the warrior

Why would he be angling for a Championship team when we were Premier League at the time? Very little logic to this conspiracy theory.

I've said all along, I wouldn't put it past them to deliberately yo-yo us for capital gains.

I heard he was after the Sutton job

I made this point ad infinitum

No capital outlay on players/loads of loanees/ up or down makes no difference to the Khans who don't care about tradition/local fans etc  - plenty of parachute money = profit all round
Package up the infrastructure /Motspur Park, New stand - ready for sale when TK has mucked it up too much for father to put up with any more

But, surely you'll only get top dollar being a "permanent" prem side

Watching the ups and downs since 1958, wouldn't have it any other way, what a roller coaster of a club.

If you're referring to the parachute payments that makes no financial sense.

The TV revenue from staying in the PL is worth substantially more than parachute payments.

Word at the moment is that Parker could replace Roy at Palace but somehow I think that unlikely.
Feasible that Parker could work his way as a manager through the clubs he was with as a player, Fulham, Spurs, West Ham and then drop down to Charlton.

Yep. There's no financial benefit arising from relegation

And SK is bankrolling our losses every year, probably around £200m since he bought us (that's on top of his initial outlay)

MartyFFC

Bournemouth would be a step down surely. Their ground holds about 12K

I'm finding it difficult to follow the logic here.

If we stay in the Prem, the TV revenue is higher, isn't it? Plus he's splashing out on a new stand.

So, you are claiming he's deliberately cutting TV revenue AND paying for a new stand so he can sell the club as Fizzy league going concern for profit?

Sorry, still cannot get my head around this, though I'm no financial wizard to any degree I will admit. So please explain the reasoning.
Logical is just in the name - don't expect it has anything to do with my thought process, because I AM the man who sold the world.

Parachute money doesn't equal profit, it's money to be a stop gap between losing a bit of money and losing a lot of money in a lower league. All you have to do is go and look at the accounts that we submit with regard to our P&L for all the seasons of us being in the championship to see that parachute payments don't stop us losing a lot of money, although that doesn't fit in with your conspiracy theory so I suppose you're going to ignore that part?

Robbie

This time around I think we will do very well by Relegation.  Not a bad strategy.

Only with regards to 'football' teams it appears (both sides of the pond)!  :005:
