Unless I have missed something he doesn't even get mentioned when the management/club provide fitness updates.

Have we already written this player off ?

Marco Silva might have to do without seven first-team players as Fulham look to extend their unbeaten start to the Championship season at Blackpool this weekend.

The Whites will certainly be missing long-term injury absentees Terence Kongolo and Tom Cairney. Whilst the Dutch defender has returned to training, the trip to Bloomfield Road will come too soon for him to make his latest return from injury. Silva revealed in his pre-match press conference this afternoon that captain Cairney has been undergoing therapy to hasten his own return to training following troublesome knee problems that have plagued him for the last nine months.

Thanks for the replies - fingers crossed he can stay fit.

Another misleading article headline

I consider him a pure bonus player. Not expecting a single game out of him. Anything above that is a bonus.

As much as I'd love to see Terrence, Tom and Alfie starting more regularly for us, I do hope that the management starts realising that long congrats for injured players isn't the best business strategy...

Really hope Kongolo can stay fit as he is Premier League quality. Was great against Wolves. Kongolo & Tosin is a good Prem pairing

I can see no reason what so ever why Kongolo can't start to feature in the team very soon.  He has had 2 bad injuries in the fairly recent past, nothing before that.  The first injury was a broken toe.  The 2nd an unlucky fall.  Nothing like a knee rupture or a weak other part of the body, just purely unlucky.  A fit Kongolo which he very nearly is, alongside Tosin would be absolute Premier ready, Mawson as backup and Ream/Hector is ridiculous for a championship side.

:plus one:  He has not been a sick note in his career until this couple of injuries.
Watching the ups and downs since 1958, wouldn't have it any other way, what a roller coaster of a club.

Surely a manager would always prefer to have a strong , reliable, fit and steady player in his squad than a than a multi talented sicknote.

Apparently he is starring in his local pantomime at Christmas as the Scarlet Pimpernel.
After that he is involved in a Documentary about the life and times of Lord Lucan, before interviewed to give his analogy of the sudden disappearance of Shergar.

That's true, but he's only been a permanent signing  since October 2020 and the club knew he was injured when he signed so can't blame him for that.

If he stays fit I reckon he's a starter for us who can make step up to premiership. The club seem to be taking a particularly long time with him to make sure that he makes a full recovery so a lot will be dependent on if they do it properly and he stays fit after all this rehab or if he falls by way side and gets injured again.

I know it'll be controversial but I think I'm over cairney. He was great for us in that team and midfield of him, johansen and Mcdonald but johansen was my favourite of the three but he's been injured for a while now and our midfield has improved since and is much more dynamic than cairney and the way he plays.

McDonald/Cairney/Stefjo was a great midfield and it won promotion for us. However it is history now and if Cairney is ever to get back into the Fulham team he will have to fit into a role that is needed rather than the his old role that has become redundant.

It is becoming questionable if Cairney will ever command a regular place again in the Fulham team and soon the manager will need to address the matter of team captain.

It would be great if this was not the case but that is the way it is looking right now.
