Silva played Fulham's best 11 last Saturday

Marco Silva played Fulham's best 11 against Barnsley and it paid off. We were lacklustre vs Peterborgough and fortunately won so changes were needed.

I have wanted Carvalho (pronounced car-value) for weeks since his return to fitness. When one hears of other clubs touting to buy him and all Fulham could offer was a bench place, it was a great reason to find work elsewhere. Silva finally chose him above the "headless chicken" that is Bobby DeCordova-Reid.

And Tom Cairney back in the team is a major boost. TC is such an intelligent player with great vision and the ability to place the ball on a teammate's foot. Seri is decent and played a good ball for one of the goals but Cairney, to me, is another level.

One hopes Silva continues the positivity and Fulham play with flair and attacking prowess with a first 11 that encourages this style of football.

With Mitovic upfront there is no reason to be negative or coddle 'water-carriers' like BDR.

With this team we should grab the nettle, go for it, and win this league by a mile.

The problem is choosing two from Cairney, Reed,Seri. Not one of them deserves the bench.

Reed and Seri deserve to start. They both make the difference to the game.
Or play all three and three up top.

Silva has way too many options all over the pitch, a nice 'headache' to have.

If Silva thinks in terms of a best XI, I think Tosin is definitely on his team sheet.

Ideally, Marco Silva needs to find at least eight premier league starters across the pitch by the end of the season. At the moment, I'd count five premier league starters in the squad (Tete, Tosin, Robinson, Wilson and Mitro) and another four needing to prove themselves (Rodak, Seri, Reed and Fabio). If I was Silva, that is not enough options and would be hoping a couple more PL starting options make their cases at potential starters (eg Gazza, Mawson, Kongolo, Chalobah and Kebano).

General

I think the criticism of BDR strange. He's definitely not a headless chicken and has scored and set up goals this season and last. I think he's got far better technique and footballing intelligence than people give him credit for.

Carvalho (pronounced from my understanding 'car-val-yho' with a slight pronouncement of the H which is customary in Portugal and Brazil for that matter does though have a tendency to score and be in the right place. He's clearly ambitious. My only reservation with him though is his contract situation which is still unresolved. We could lose a fee, although he is apparently getting a new agent which means perhaps it's been put off until January and we just can't do anything until then.

I'd start seri and Reed in CM. Seri's ball within minutes of coming on to Wilson for his goal against Barnsley is a good reason why. He just thinks on another level. He doesn't carry a goal scoring threat like TC can, but with Kebano, Mitro, Wilson and Carvalho that part is less important.

You also either chose to omit him because you don't like him or forgot him entirely but Tosin didn't play vs Peterborough and Barnsley and would be in our first team, his height, ball playing skills and ability in the tackle are better than Hector's.

Robinson? A premier league starter? Absolutely not. He shouldn't even start now, but for some reason gets the nod over Bryan.
Robinson is so overrated it's unreal.

So much wrong (IMO) with Bateman's original post- managing to be just patronising enough to some players to force a response.

BDR is no water carrier- he's a useful player that has proved he can make the step up. 5 assists and 2 goals in 14 games isn't a bad return.

If Carvalho's contract isn't sorted in January, I'd put him on the bench at best (we've just won 6 in a row without him starting) We can't go through the development we've had and just lose the kid for nothing as he won't sign a new contract (a la Sess).

That ball from Seri- "a good ball". You've clearly never played or watched enough football if that's the praise you give that ball. It was outrageous, unbelievable and perfectly executed. No reason at all that TC & Seri can't play in the same team. Reed occupying a more advanced position hasn't really worked this season at all, for me, it's him or Reed for the deeper lying MF.

Agreed.

I think Reed showed that he has what it takes to be a regular starter in the Prem last season.

There was about an 8 or 10 game stretch around the middle of the season when he was hugely influential.

Funnily enough that was our best run of form.

TC's Sporran

you cant just label a player after one or two passes.
silva took a lacklustre seri off v posh and cairney made a massive difference.
he  started cairney v the tykes, then swapped him for seri and cue the wonder pass.
i think he will start seri tonight and bring tc on after 70mins.  and possible start cairney on saturday and later bring on seri.
but....
im sure there is a way he can play both in the same team.

The single most patronising aspect of the op was being told how to mispronounce Carvalho.

One vehemently disagrees with the "water carrier" jibe too!

Andy S

The op is a fool He doesn't know the song we have been singing for Mitro for two years. Yet he seems to have an opinion on everything

bobby01

The op pops on drops a wum comment and does not return until it's next wum post. He is the man who questioned why Wilson had never played for England.
Watching the ups and downs since 1958, wouldn't have it any other way, what a roller coaster of a club.
