Fulham considering Morten Hjulmand as Joao Palhinha replacement
Fulham will look to replace Joao Palhinha with Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand, a target for Manchester United who will cost around £67.5 million.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Morten Hjulmand is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Joao Palhinha. Meanwhile, the Sporting CP midfielder, who will cost around £67.5 million, is also a target for Manchester United.

The Kasper Hjulmand tale
Kasper Hjulmand has been one of the best young midfielders in the world in the last few years. A native of Kastrup, he spent his formative years in his homeland before graduating from the FC Kobenhavn youth division. However, the Dane rose in prominence during his spell with US Lecce, serving the Serie A outfit as the club captain before joining Sporting CP last summer.

Hjulmand's leadership qualities and winning mentality immensely helped Sporting CP in the 2023/24 season. The 24-year-old was a mainstay in the middle of the park, amassing over 3,500 minutes of game time across 49 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with four goals and four assists.

Meanwhile, Hjulmand's progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. However, Fulham might spring a surprise in the race to sign the Danish international in the summer transfer window, although Manchester United will also provide stiff competition.

Premier League beckons?
Fulham's interest in Morten Hjulmand is understandable. The Cottagers are in a spot of bother over Joao Palhinha's long-term future amid links with Bayern Munich. So, the Sporting CP star has emerged as a viable target for Fulham. However, his price tag, the same as his release clause of £67.5 million, might pose a problem for the West London club.

Coughing up £67.5 million might not be an issue for Manchester United. The Red Devils consider the Danish international a long-term successor to Casemiro, who struggled to maintain high performance levels in the 2023/24 season. The 24-year-old has thus emerged as a top target for Manchester United.

Fulham might not be an appealing destination for the Dane, considering he currently represents Sporting CP. So, it will be interesting to see if the West London club can turn Kasper Hjulmand's head and beat Manchester United to his signature.

Man Utd plot to hijack £60m midfielder raid as Fulham 'favourites' to sign Bundesliga star
All the latest Premier League transfer news, including Man Utd, Fulham, and West Ham.

We begin Wednesday's Premier League transfer rumour roundup with news of a possible Manchester United swoop for Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha. The Portugal international is in demand this summer, with Bayern Munich reportedly rekindling their interest in a player who they almost signed in January.

But despite interest from the German giants, Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has claimed that the Red Devils could make a late attempt to hijack any prospective deal. Writing on social media, the journalist said: 'Fulham value Joao Palhinha at double £30m bid they have rejected from Bayern Munich. Barcelona and Man United also interested but Barcelona have financial issues and there's uncertainty surrounding managerial situation at United. No release clause in Palhinha's contract.'

The 3AM Verdict: It does feel as if Bayern will be Palhinha's most likely destination this summer, but if United could somehow hijack their deal for the midfielder, then they would be securing a real coup. Palhinha has been one of the standout performers of Fulham's recent Premier League run, and it feels like a matter of time before he ends up at a club with continental ambitions.

Fulham want Silas
Elsewhere, in more Fulham-adjacent news, HITC report that the Cottagers are favourites to sign £15 million-rated VfB Stuttgart forward Silas Katompa Mvumpa, known simply as Silas, this summer. The Bundesliga star is said to be keen on the prospect of a move to the Premier League in the coming weeks.

Fulham previously had a bid rejected for the Congolese star during the January transfer window, but it is understood that they are readying themselves to rekindle their interest, and that the player himself is open to entertaining the idea of joining the West London outfit. Silas is capable of playing out on the right flank, or through the centre.

The 3AM Verdict: This could be a good move for Fulham. Despite not being a regular starter for Stuttgart, Silas has still chipped in with plenty of goals and assists during his time in Germany, and is known for his ball-carrying abilities and his electric pace. A very exciting potential signing for the Cottagers.

Fulham have £6.75m bid reject for 'remarkable' new Leeds United target, preparing second bid
Premier League side Fulham have had a bid of £6.75m rejected for a player reportedly on Leeds United's radar ahead of the summer window, but they are preparing a second offer.

Leeds are in need of new wingers this summer, after Jaidon Anthony returned to Bournemouth following his loan spell at Elland Road. Crysencio Summerville has half of the Premier League looking to sign him.

Indeed, Fulham are one of the clubs touted with a move for Summerville, along with Liverpool, Chelsea, West Ham, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and even James Milner's Brighton in the last week.

Willy Gnonto is another expected to depart Elland Road in the coming months and reports in Italy say that Inter Milan could sign Gnonto, to bring in a homegrown ace to aid Champions League registration.

Losing Gnonto, Summerville and Anthony would leave Leeds with just Dan James as an option out wide. Ian Poveda is about to leave the club on a free too, with his contract at Elland Road ending on June 30.

Fulham have £6.75m bid rejected for new Leeds target Silas
DR Congo international Silas is a player that has emerged on Leeds' radar in the last few weeks. The Stuttgart wide man enjoyed a successful 2023-24 term, even if he only started nine of his 30 appearances.

He had a hand in 13 goals, while also playing in the African Cup of Nations. Last week, Leeds were named as one of five clubs interested in Silas alongside Fulham, Villarreal, Lens and Auxerre this summer.

Now, a report from Caught Offside claim Marco Silva's Fulham have seen a bid of £6.75m rejected for Silas. It is reported that the London side are preparing to go back in for Silas with a second bid of £12.5m.

'Remarkable' story of Silas playing under a fake name initially
To begin with at Stuttgart, Silas played under the name Silas Wamangituka and claimed he was a year older than he actually was. But in 2021, he admitted his real age and his name is Silas Katompa Mvumpa.

The wide man's "remarkable" story came about a few years ago and is now playing happily with all of his real details in the public domain. His reasoning was he lived in fear for his safety, and his family's safety.

It seems the chances of Silas ending up at Elland Road are slim given Leeds find themselves in the race for his signature with top-tier clubs, like Fulham and Villarreal. But it could be down to game time.

Fulham tracking Truffert
Fulham are keen on signing the Stade Rennais full-back Adrien Truffert, according to reports from France.

L'Equipe suggests that the Whites are among a throng of Premier League sides who have been tracking the 22 year-old left back including Aston Villa, Leicester City and Bournemouth. The French international, who has been included in Thierry Henry's squad for this summer's Paris Olympics, has two years left on his current contract and there has been speculation that Rennes might be prepared to cash in one of their hottest young talents.

Villa, who saw a £16.8m bid rejected in January, are tipped to return with an increased offer but Unai Emery will need to sell before he buys new players to solidify their PSR position. Fulham will need to bring in competition for their first-choice left back Antonee Robinson and Truffert fits the profile of player sought by both Marco Silva and Tony Khan. There is also continental interest in the young star, with L'Equipe reporting that Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Benfica, Olympique Lyonnais and AS Monaco are all weighing up a summer swoop.
