Hull City keen on 13-goal Fulham attacker
Jay Stansfield is thought to be on the Tigers' radar, but they may end up missing out on the striker.

Hull City have taken an interest in Fulham striker Jay Stansfield.
Stansfield may not be available due to Fulham boss Marco Silva's plans.
However, the Tigers should still keep him as a target.

Hull City have recently taken an interest in Fulham striker Jay Stansfield, according to Hull Live.

The Tigers may have Jaden Philogene as an attacking threat at the moment, but he isn't guaranteed to stay and they have seen plenty of offensive players depart the MKM Stadium recently.

Liam Delap and Noah Ohio have returned to their parent clubs - and Anass Zaroury's time at the club is up as well with the winger re-joining his parent club Burnley.

Fabio Carvalho's loan stay in East Yorkshire has also expired, but it's the club's striker department that is the area that needs addressing as a matter of urgency.

Not only have Delap and Ohio left, but Aaron Connolly and Billy Sharp have too.

Sharp's departure doesn't come as a major surprise, with the experienced forward failing to make that much of an impact, but Irishman Connolly's exit was a bit of a shock.

With all of these departures in mind, a rebuild in the striker department will be required, but some cheap additions may be needed if they aren't going to cash in on the likes of Philogene and Jacob Greaves in the coming months.

Using the free agent market could pay dividends for them - and they could also recruit some loanees to add some quality and depth to this area.

Hull City have taken an interest in Jay Stansfield
Hull have reportedly cast their eye on Stansfield, who shone at Birmingham City last season.

Getting into double figures for Blues, it's a shame for him that he was unable to keep them in the Championship, with the Midlands club being relegated on the final day of the season.

However, he is one of few players who could hold his head high after last term, although he may not be too shocked about how well he did last term after thriving at Exeter City.

Jay Stansfield's 2023/24 campaign at Birmingham City (All competitions)
Appearances          47
Goals          13
Assists          3

Unfortunately for the Tigers, his performance levels in the EFL for Blues and the Grecians may have persuaded the Cottagers to keep hold of him for next season.

Revealing his stance on Stansfield, Fulham's boss Marco Silva told the Evening Standard: "He's (Stansfield) going to be back with us.

"Everything we planned, apart from the collective goal of Birmingham which was not what we wanted, was a box [ticked].

"He played the season before in League One [with Exeter City], and to be able to give a step forward in the Championship and be an important piece in the attack-line and score important goals [was pleasing]. Jay achieved all the important things.

"Now is the moment for him to come back and be one of the players in our attacking line for next season."

Hull City could benefit from a loan move for Jay Stansfield
Judging from Silva's comments, Hull's chances of getting a deal over the line for the player are slim.

However, they should still keep him on their target list as a potential alternative to their main targets, if they have identified any.

Bringing in a player of Stansfield's calibre would be ideal, with the Tigers already knowing that he can thrive in this division.

A loan deal would be ideal, because the player may not cost too much to bring in temporarily, unless the Cottagers decide to charge a high loan fee.

One thing is for certain: they need more than one striker. He should be one of many targets on the club's wishlist.

Lukic looking forward to Euro 2024
Fulham midfielder Sasa Lukic is filled with pride by the prospect of being part of the first Serbian side to compete in the European Championships.

The last appearance came in 2000 as the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia – and Lukic is relishing the opportunity to make his mark in a special tournament. He told the club's official website on the eve of the opening game:

"This will be the first time for Serbia, and 24 years since the last appearance as Yugoslavia. It's wonderful for Serbian people and it's also great for football, because Serbia deserved to qualify for the tournament. We are really happy to represent our country at these finals. Our objectives need to be high. We have a strong group, and we need to show how strong we are, and we have a big motivation to do well. Therefore, we need to raise our level to the maximum possible, with the objective to reach the latter stages of the tournament."

The midfielder admitted that he can't wait for Serbia's first game against England on Sunday.

"I can't wait for the first game versus England. I'm here in England and know more or less the way the players perform and what they offer. I've played against many of them in the Premier League, so it will certainly be a good contest, for me and for all of us, so it will be a wonderful experience and we hope to give a good account of ourselves.

I've been here around 18 months, so it's funny that we've been paired with England in the same group, and it will be a great occasion and match. I've played many times in the Premier League and it will be a great experience to play against an England side with many players I've already come up against. Playing in England for some time, and against some of the players already, can help as it will allow me to impart knowledge to the rest of the players and the team."

Hull hunt Stansfield
Hull City are interested in taking Fulham forward Jay Stansfield on loan, according to reports in this morning's press.

HullLive claim that the England under-21 international is at the top of the Tigers' summer transfer target list having starred at Birmingham City last season. A move for the talented striker seems set to fail, however, with Marco Silva keen to involve Stansfield in his first-team squad this season.

What Marco Silva has already said about Fulham and Hull City £3m transfer
Hull City are said to be interested in the services of a Fulham star who turned heads in the Championship last season.

Hull City are interested in a transfer move for Fulham striker Jay Stansfield this summer after the talisman impressed in an underwhelming Birmingham City season last term.

The 21-year-old was one of the positives in a dire Blues campaign that saw the Midlands club relegated to League One. Stansfield bagged 12 goals in the second tier for Birmingham City before returning to Fulham at the end of his loan spell.

The striker joined Fulham from Exeter City in 2019 as a youth prospect but has only made eight appearances for the Cottagers' first team. Stansfield is still contracted at the London club until 2027 but it remains to be seen whether he can break into Marco Silva's immediate plans.

Should he not be part of the club's preparations for the Premier League season, he seems unlikely to be short of suitors. According to Hull Live, the Tigers are one of the clubs keen on signing the striker.

The Yorkshire outfit could see Jaden Philogene depart this summer and have already said goodbye to Liam Delap, Anass Zaroury and Noah Ohio following the expiry of loan deals. Aaron Connolly and Billy Sharp have also left, making recruitment up top a priority.

Fulham could look to send the young Stansfield out on loan again but could also be open to brokering a transfer deal - the player is valued at £3 million by football database Transfermarkt.

Speaking about the Birmingham City loanee, Fulham head coach Silva had already hinted that Stansfield may be part of his plans for the upcoming campaign. He told the Evening Standard: "He's going to be back with us. Everything we planned, apart from the collective goal of Birmingham which was not what we wanted, was a box [ticked].

"He played the season before in League One [with Exeter City], and to be able to give a step forward in the Championship and be an important piece in the attack-line and score important goals [was pleasing]. Jay achieved all the important things.

"Now is the moment for him to come back and be one of the players in our attacking line for next season."

A few steps still needed for Fulham transfer – Club 'working hard' for dream player after year-long contact
Fulham and Bayern Munich remain a few steps apart from each other over Joao Palhinha, despite him making it clear he wants the move to Munich.

That's according to BILD, who say Bayern are 'working hard' to get the Portuguese midfielder, who is considered the 'dream' signing by Vincent Kompany and Bayern's hierarchy.

The newspaper reports that following an initial €35m offer, which was rejected, Bayern made a second offer to Fulham worth €45m on Tuesday.

That, though, is still not enough for Marco Silva's side, who are believed to be demanding more than €70m for the midfielder. Their reasoning is that they agreed a €58m plus €9m deal with Bayern last summer and don't want anything less than that this time around.

Bayern are yet to go that high, despite considering Palhinha a dream player for the squad and keeping in contact with him for the last year after last summer's failed move.

They've already discussed a possible contract worth €10m a year with the midfielder, even though they are yet to agree transfer terms with Fulham for him.

They're proving to be tough negotiators once again, even though Palhinha has made it clear he wants the move and only wants to join the German giants this summer.

Fulham join Nelson chase
Fulham are one of a host of Premier League clubs keen on signing Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson this summer, according to the Athletic.

The 24 year-old has reportedly told the Gunners he would like to explore potential options away from the Emirates this summer having grown frustrated at a lack of first-team football under Mikel Arteta. Nelson started just one Premier League fixture last term, making fourteen appearances as a substitute, as Arsenal finished second to eventual champions Manchester City.

He is under contract until June 2027 having extended his deal last year and Arsenal will want around £20m should they decide to part with their academy graduate. They turned down approaches for his services last January, but a number of English sides have been alerted to Nelson's eagerness to find more game time. The Athletic's David Ornstein names Crystal Palace, West Ham United, Nottingham Forest and Fulham as interested in the winger.

The Whites are looking to strengthen their options on both flanks as they seek to reshape Marco Silva's squad ahead of a third successive season in the top flight. Fulham have already been linked to another Arsenal winger in Emile Smith Rowe this summer.

Arsenal star asks to leave! Gunners ace seeks exit amid interest from Crystal Palace, West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Fulham
Arsenal star Reiss Nelson has reportedly handed in a transfer request amid interest from Crystal Palace, West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Fulham.

    Nelson seeks Arsenal exit
    Wants a more prominent role
    Has no shortage of suitors

WHAT HAPPENED?

According to The Athletic, the 24-year-old has informed the Gunners of his desire to explore potential transfer options this summer in search of a more prominent role elsewhere. Nelson, who signed a new contract with Arsenal last July, is committed to the club until June 2027, with an option to extend for an additional 12 months.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Despite committing his long-term future to Arsenal, Nelson remains open for a future away from the Emirates as he has yet to win the trust of Mikel Arteta - which saw him earn just over 700 minutes across all competitions this season. Several clubs expressed interest in Nelson during the January transfer window, but Arsenal rejected these approaches as they were still competing on multiple fronts, including the Premier League and the Champions League as the manager wanted him as a potential backup in case of any injuries.

DID YOU KNOW?

Arsenal is reportedly open to letting Nelson leave this summer if a suitable offer comes in. The club is seeking a fee in the region of £20 million, including add-ons, for the academy graduate. His journey with Arsenal began at a young age, joining the club's academy and working his way through the ranks. He made his senior debut in 2017 and has since had loan spells at Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga and Feyenoord in the Eredivisie.

WHAT NEXT?

Several Premier League clubs have shown interest in acquiring Nelson's services. Crystal Palace, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, and West Ham United are among the frontrunners. These clubs are attracted by Nelson's pace, technical ability, and versatility, which could bolster their attacking options for the upcoming season.

For Arsenal, the potential sale of Nelson represents a strategic decision as they look to balance their squad and finances. With the club aiming to compete at the highest levels, reinvesting funds from player sales into new signings or other areas of the squad could be beneficial. The interest from multiple clubs suggests that Nelson's talent and potential are well recognized, and a resolution to his transfer request will likely come sooner rather than later.

Fulham could try to sign £45m Man City player this summer – journalist
Fulham could set their sights on landing a summer transfer deal for one particular Manchester City player.

In previous transfer windows, Premier League sides such as Arsenal and Chelsea have signed players from the Manchester club such as Gabriel Jesus, Cole Palmer, Raheem Sterling and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Now that another summer transfer window has opened, a journalist has another London club that may look to secure the signature of a current figure in the City squad.

Journalist says Fulham could look at potential Kalvin Phillips transfer move
In a recent post on his X account, journalist Dean Jones had this to say on the matter.

Back in the 2022 summer transfer window, City paid £45m, as per Sky Sports, to sign Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United.

After starting just six of the 31 games he appeared in for the Blues, the midfielder was loaned out to West Ham United during the previous January transfer window.

During his time at the East London club, the Englishman started just three of the eight Premier League games he appeared in between February and April.

His performances across those eight league games earned Phillips a rather disappointing overall season rating of 5.89/10 from WhoScored, making him the lowest-rated player at West Ham.

City should sell Phillips this summer
As Jones mentioned, Joao Palhinha has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich, who have seen two bids for the midfielder rejected by Fulham according to BBC Sport.

Given how disappointing Phillips was during his time with the Hammers when given the chance to play, it seems surprising to us that, even if they may be without Palhinha for next season, Fulham could turn to the City outcast to replace the Portuguese international.

Regardless, we think the best option for all parties this summer would be for City to sell Phillips, who Danny Murphy said last month would be better off joining Everton, if they get an offer for him.

Daniel Levy to block Tottenham transfer as summer deal mooted
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will not be willing to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Fulham during the summer transfer window, according to Alan Hutton.

The Danish international has fallen out of favour since Ange Postecoglou arrived in North London, only starting eight Premier League games last season as the Lilywhites missed out on a place in the Champions League places.

Spurs are understood to be willing to let the 28-year-old depart this summer and while Atletico Madrid seem to be the current favourites [Daily Mail, 10 June], Fulham have been tipped to move for the midfielder if Joao Palhina is to leave.

Although Hutton believes Levy will demand the same fee from anybody looking to buy Hojbjerg this summer, he thinks the Tottenham chief will be more willing to do business with foreign clubs than he will a Premier League rival.

"No owner will really want to sell to a rival," Hutton exclusively told Tottenham News.

"It's kind of through gritted teeth if that ever happens and I've heard that Jose Mourinho is now interested in him as well. He knows the player, could that be something that he's keen on?

"Of course, they'll still want the same money and if it's not to a rival then it is even better, so we will see how it pans out.

"I think that could be one that we'll have to look at because it could be a possibility."

Will Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou sell Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg during the summer transfer window?
While Levy and Postecoglou will be looking to cut Spurs' wage bill this summer so that they begin looking at potential incomings, they will still drive a hard bargain before letting any players walk away from the club.

The Lilywhites chief has never been a man willing to let a player walk away for a cut-price and he has typically been reluctant to deal with local rivals, which was part of the reason Harry Kane ultimately ended up in Germany.

Although Hojbjerg isn't quite as good as Kane, Tottenham won't want to help a local side improve this summer when they could earn the same fee by selling the Danish international to Fenerbache who they won't have to compete with.

Ultimately, the most important thing for the Lilywhites is getting the midfielder's wages off of their books this summer, alongside the likes of Giovani Lo Celso and Bryan Gil. As soon as a reasonable offer arrives in North London, they will likely be ready to accept it.
