I know that some people on here have no interest in women's football but it was quite an achievement today to have finished their 22 games unbeaten. It will be tougher next season!

It's impressive, take nothing away from them.. but they are in a pretty low league and with a PL clubs resources.

My main comment though is what a shame it was the club took so long to reestablish it as we've now got to work our way up the pyramid and let the established clubs dominate, where when we started out we were the dominant force in women's football.

When we started out we were nowhere near being a dominant force, it was only when MAF put the cash up to turn professional that we became dominant, my reserve team went the whole season unbeaten, scoring 130 goals, conceding 15, won the league, won the reserve league cup, but even after that my players were not very good. To be honest It was great fun.
I much prefer now days watching Ladies football, even though I was part of the Fulham rise, my team was always and will always be Arsenal.

I have just done a little research and Fulham will move up from the fifth tier to the fourth tier. It is rather complicated with various leagues in the country at the lower tiers.

I gave a detailed explanation of their tier system in the Women's Game on a past thread. But Fulham Ladies won tier 5 and get promotion. They beat the runners up easily and remained unbeaten. It is all regional until we get to the top two divisions. Plus players who are subbed can come back on and the rules are a little different.

I mentioned before that Chelsea Ladies dominate the domestic game now. Yet when the Women were treated with money and we had the very best players. I remember Fulham winning against Chelsea after a mens match at the Cottage. If only we had kept up the investment. But the women's game has been treated poorly until recently. Nice then to see it more popular than ever.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Unfortunately no other club at that time would/could not turn professional, the only team that could seriously compete with Fulham were Arsenal, and then Arsenal had no reason to turn professional, as they paid good expense's to their players. After one/two season's as professional's the funding was withdrawn.
During that period after winning the reserve league and cup, I decided to call it a day as it seriously impacted on family life.
It was a shame it ended, all the top players left, couple of Norwegian Olympic winners the best Swedish players, all went, we had the wonderful Rachel Yankey, great footballer and a lovely person, of course none of those players ever appeared in the reserves.  One player I had as keeper and outfield player was Siobhan Chamberlain who went on to play 50 odd times for England, after she left Fulham.

Great memories to look back on. Rachel Yankey and Katie Chapman were outstanding and I remember Chamberlain. Must have been great to be so involved.

It was, those girls back then were so enthusiastic, used to train three times a week, they hated it, especially after a full days work, some still at school, but they turned up for a 3 hour session. I am so glad that I was part of it.
