Fulham have tied down an academy graduate for the next four years.

After a few yo-yo seasons, Fulham have re-established themselves as a Premier League side.

The Cottagers recorded a record Premier League points tally last season with 54, and were in the mix for European football for much of the campaign.

Fulham academy talent commits future to Cottagers
Under Marco Silva, Fulham's transfer business has gone under the radar.

Despite losing several key players over the past five years, including Aleksander Mitrovic and Joao Palhina, their signings have been fairly shrewd, with Emile Smith-Rowe being the standout name.

They've now secured the services of talented teenager Josh King on a new four-year deal, exciting everyone associated with the west London club. King made 11 first-team appearances last year and impressed fans, who are now excited to see him develop at Craven Cottage for the foreseeable future. , too.

Jack Kelly, a Fulham fan, posted on X: "Josh King signing a new long term contract is absolutely terrific news. A wonder kid, tied down, Fulham through and through. I cannot wait to see how his career pans out. - at Fulham!"

And as if that's not enough, Seth Rigeon has committed to the club. It's a fantastic sign for the club as they look to build for the future.

"I say to my family it's like a second home, and it's such a nice feeling to be able to stay here," King told Fulham's site.

"Obviously I know a lot of people [here], I've got some good friends and made some really good connections, so it will be nice to continue that on."

Fulham are having a quiet summer - and that's a good thing
It's been all quiet on the (south) western front so far this window, but it's not necessarily all bad...

If you were a fly on the wall in Motspur Park these past few months, you'd have heard a pin drop. Silence is golden, but is that the case when that silence reflects our lack of incoming transfers? To say the fanbase is frustrated is an understatement, but when Marco spoke in an interview recently, although understanding the frustration, he did not share it. My view? The reason the man who wears his heart on his sleeve seems relaxed, is because inactivity at this stage is a good thing.

We started this summer from a place of stability, knowing there would be neither major player or managerial departures, and that we would retain our core squad by the end of the window. We consolidated the squad by retaining Kenny Tete and then TC. Then, excitingly, we also seem to be learning lessons and have begun future planning, with Luc de Fougerolles, Josh King and Seth Ridgeon committing their futures to the Whites. With those pieces of the puzzle in place, on analysing the squad, you can understand the dearth of incoming activity.

Since becoming a Premier League side, Marco has gradually built a solid midtable squad. We know he wants two players per position, and we aren't far off; a few additions will make this squad feel more robust, ready to go after those European spots, or dare I say it, a domestic trophy.

Solid at the back
Our only incoming so far, is replacing butterfingers Steven Benda with Benjamin Lecomte, which makes the goalkeeper position feel a lot more secure, although we do need to start planning for the future here.

With Tete signing up for a few more years, the right-back position appears covered for now, especially as Timothy Castagne has recovered from surgery. This is complemented by the strength in depth at centre-back. After signing his new contract, LdF going on loan is a sensible scenario and a middle- to upper-level Championship club would do nicely, though the latest reports suggest that Belgium is the likely destination.

Antonee Robinson should be ready for the beginning of the season after his surgery, but there's a vacancy for his understudy. Do we sign or loan someone? Could we promote academy product Jonathan Esenga? It feels premature, but he has travelled to Portugal for pre-season, so could be under consideration. Or do we use Ryan Sessegnon, Calvin Bassey and Castagne's versatility as cover? It's a position that ought to have some attention before the window closes.

Central flux
Central midfield is where the biggest debate lies among the fanbase. Sasa Lukic and Sander Berge are excellent DMs, but uninspiring CMs – as we saw last season – and they should battle it out for the one DM slot.

With future starboys King and Ridgeon signing contracts, and seemingly in the first-team squad, it does change squad planning at CM. It feels unlikely now that we sell Andreas Pereira this summer. If we did, we either sign an attacking midfielder to challenge Emile Smith Rowe, or it indicates that Marco sees King as the 10.

If we use King as a 10 to push ESR, we would need not just the reportedly incoming Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at CM, but a second central midfielder signing to flesh out that part of the squad, and that seems unlikely. Particularly as Harrison Reed and TC only appear to be squad players. If we sign another 10 to replace Andreas that would suggest King and KDH contest that starting CM slot, but we also need to consider how that impacts a certain Mr Ridgeon's future.

If Seth is one year behind King in his development, there's no value in cluttering the squad with too many new CMs, as that would stifle his progression, which was probably the dream he was sold as he signed his contract.

So next season, we could see a refresh in midfield, with Seth rivalling Dewsbury-Hall at CM, and King then competing with ESR for the AM position, with TC, and potentially Reed and AP, moving on. Ultimately, there is a lot to consider here, which is helped by the versatility those midfielders all possess. This is a headache for Marco, but as the cliche goes, a good headache to have. It will be fascinating to see how this all plays out, but it is exciting to finally see the academy stars getting opportunities, we hope, to showcase their talents.

Change on the wings?
It seems we are looking for a game changing winger, with rumours suggesting either Reiss Nelson or Raheem Sterling could be joining the club. They could provide depth for Alex Iwobi on the left, with Harry Wilson and Sessegnon on the right, and Adama Traore being available on both wings.

Ideally, the winger we bring in should be capable of playing as a striker, to give some support to Rodrigo Muniz and Raul Jimenez. This feels particularly pertinent given how flat we became once Raul was left to be the sole striker for the final weeks of the season.

Bright future
With Premier League stability, we are finally in a position where we can complement our strong mid-table squad with academy players, who Marco can mold into what he needs, without shelling out eight-figure sums on 'top six' outcasts. That's especially helpful for squad building, and our future.

That stability leads to a club of our size and ambition quietly going about its business, and not shouting from the rooftops, because simply, we do not need to. With additions at left-back, central midfield and on the wing (more if the likes of AP and Reed are sold), we could be sitting pretty for a strong European push and cup run this season.

There is an elephant in the room among all this: we wait towards the end of the window to save a pretty penny (not that I agree with the approach), but don't we have the Mitro and Stansfield money burning a hole in the board's pockets? Shouldn't that be increasing our already decent-sized transfer kitty? If the board had loftier ambitions, we could raise the floor of this squad notably, and fly towards Europe, considering how our rivals are all being stripped for parts, but that's a conversation for another day.

For now, we're good, we're solid, and we're only going to get better, Marco will see to it. Silence isn't golden, it's black and white.

'The only question is the salary' – Fulham could agree £5m Raheem Sterling deal
Fulham could agree a £5million deal to sign Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling on loan this summer.

Chelsea are looking to move the 30-year-old on over the coming weeks after he's fallen further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens.

The winger spent the latest campaign on loan at Arsenal after being frozen out by Enzo Maresca following the Blues manager's arrival last summer.

Arsenal decided against signing Sterling on a permanent basis after he failed to provide much of an impact during his time at the Emirates Stadium.

The Telegraph reported on 25 July Fulham have now put Sterling on their list of summer targets, but they will wait until later in the transfer window before making a move to secure his signature.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the Cottagers could look to agree a "creative" deal where they pay a £5million loan fee and half of his wages.

Sterling, who is under contract until June 2027, is believed to be on more than £300,000 a week after making the move to Stamford Bridge in a £50million deal from Manchester City in 2022.

Raheem Sterling isn't attractive signing after Chelsea issue
Borson insisted Sterling isn't an attractive signing after his form has dipped over the past couple of seasons.

He told Football Insider: "The reality is Raheem Sterling is a free transfer-fee wise.

"The only question is how much of the salary is being paid by the new club.

"He's on something like £350,00 a week apparently, and I think he's still got two years left and he's 31 in December.

"He's not played well for two years broadly.

"He's not a very attractive signing for somebody, aside from the fact that he has a history in the game and, prior to leaving City, he was considered a top player.

"I have heard Fulham are interested, but Fulham are going to be interested on the basis that we get close to the end of the window and they can take him on some kind of creative deal where maybe they pay a £5million loan fee and half his wages or something.

"It will be something of that order."

Chelsea offer two stars in sensational Morgan Rogers swap deal
In terms of a potential incoming at Stamford Bridge, Football Insider revealed on 28 July Chelsea have made an offer for Morgan Rogers that includes two stars in a cash-plus-players exchange bid.

The Blues are now ramping up their bid to sign the Aston Villa playmaker, who is their top target for the remainder of the summer transfer window.

Villa are resisting interest in Rogers from Chelsea as well as several other Premier League rivals and have made it clear the 23-year-old is not for sale.

However, Maresca's side are believed to have offered Nicolas Jackson and Tosin Adarabioyo as well as a cash sum to Villa in part-exchange for the England international.

Fulham look to strengthen as Chelsea open to midfield exit
Fulham Weigh Move for Dewsbury-Hall as Chelsea Await Clarity

Fulham have signalled intent this summer. The ambition is not simply to tread water in the Premier League but to take strides toward establishing a consistent top-half presence. According to GiveMeSport, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is now emerging as a serious option to bolster Marco Silva's midfield.

The Chelsea midfielder has endured a frustrating year in West London. Having arrived with momentum after leading Leicester City to promotion under Enzo Maresca, he has found opportunities limited at Stamford Bridge. Just two Premier League starts last season, against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford, have made it clear that first-team inclusion remains elusive.

Fulham explore permanent transfer route
Initial enquiries by Fulham focused on a possible loan, but Chelsea's stance has been firm. "They have been met with clear indications from Chelsea officials that any loan arrangement is not on their agenda as yet." That has not dissuaded the Cottagers. As GiveMeSport reported, "Fulham haven't been deterred from the prospect of signing Dewsbury-Hall on a permanent deal."

A year into his time at Chelsea, Dewsbury-Hall remains on the fringes. Thirteen appearances in the league and a bulk of his minutes coming in the Europa Conference League underline his peripheral role. Despite that, his professionalism is noted. "Chelsea [are] satisfied with his professionalism and commitment to the club," the report adds.

Chelsea face decision over midfield depth
Dewsbury-Hall is not actively seeking a move, and Chelsea are under no immediate pressure to sell. Yet the reality of squad dynamics underlines the dilemma. With players like Cole Palmer increasingly favoured, room for Dewsbury-Hall to break through looks increasingly narrow.

The next few days could be pivotal. "Developments are expected in the next couple of days in terms of whether they will actively pursue a deal for the Blues fringe man," and it is understood that the structure and value of a Fulham bid could influence Chelsea's willingness to do business.

Silva's midfield evolution continues
Fulham's pursuit of Dewsbury-Hall should be viewed in the broader context of Marco Silva's ambition to reshape the squad. The Portuguese manager continues to push for additions that can evolve the team beyond its recent mid-table status. Dewsbury-Hall's energy and technical quality would be an asset, especially in a system that relies heavily on midfield control.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis
The link to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall represents exactly the type of move Fulham should be making. There is an obvious need to add midfield dynamism, and Dewsbury-Hall fits the profile. He is technically assured, presses well, and carries the ball with intent, qualities that would flourish under Silva.

The fact that Fulham are not discouraged by the prospect of a permanent deal is encouraging. Too often in recent windows, Fulham supporters have watched the club hesitate or prioritise stop-gap loans. If Chelsea's preference is a sale, and Fulham are willing to pay a fair fee, this could be a very shrewd acquisition.

What is most promising is the shift in strategy. Fulham are not chasing names or short-term fixes, they are targeting players with long-term value and potential. Dewsbury-Hall, still only 25, has room to grow and the hunger to prove himself.

If the club can structure a deal sensibly, this is one move that could genuinely improve the first XI, and help push Fulham towards that consistent top-half goal.

Fulham express interest in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, open to permanent move
Fulham will reportedly look to sign 26-year-old English midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a versatile midfielder in the summer transfer window. So, the 26-year-old Chelsea playmaker has emerged as a target for the West London club.

The Cottagers have registered their interest in the Englishman, and "they haven't said no to the notion of signing the star on a permanent deal, if that is what is required to complete a move". However, it is unclear how much Chelsea will demand to part ways with Dewsbury-Hall after forking out £30 million to sign him last year.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and an ill-advised move
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has seen his stock plummet since joining Chelsea from Leicester City in a deal worth £30 million last summer. The 26-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge amid hype surrounding him after an exceptional 2024/25 campaign under Enzo Maresca. However, he has not even managed 2,000 minutes of game time across 36 outings thus far for Chelsea while chipping in with five goals and four assists.

With regular game time eluding the English midfielder, a departure from Stamford Bridge may be on the cards, with Premier League clubs ready to secure his services. Fulham will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Move across London on the horizon?
Fulham's interest in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is understandable. The Cottagers are scouring the market for a midfielder this summer amid uncertainties surrounding Andreas Pereira's long-term future. Several candidates have emerged on Fulham's radar, with Dewsbury-Hall also a viable target for the West London club.

The Cottagers have expressed their interest in the 26-year-old Englishman as they look to kick-start their summer business. Benjamin Lecomte is the only player to join Fulham this summer, and they must ramp up their efforts to add to Marco Silva's squad in the coming weeks.

Interestingly, a permanent move may be on the cards, as "they haven't said no to the notion of signing the star on a permanent deal, if that is what is required to complete a move". However, it is unclear how much Chelsea will demand to part ways with Dewsbury-Hall after forking out £30 million to sign the English midfielder 12 months ago.

Preview: Fulham vs Al Ittihad - prediction, team news, lineups
Fulham and Al Ittihad will both continue their pre-season preparations ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 campaign when they meet in a friendly match on Wednesday.

The Cottagers defeated Nottingham Forest 3-1 in their opening friendly encounter, while the Tigers have lost to both Fenerbahce and Vitoria in their two fixtures.

Match preview
Fulham have established themselves as a comfortable mid-table team in the Premier League since returning to the division by winning the Championship in 2021-22.

The Cottagers finished 10th in 2022-23, 13th in 2023-24 and 11th in 2024-25, and Marco Silva will now be looking to lead the team into European competition next term.

Fulham amassed 54 points from their 38 fixtures last term and were in the battle for a European place for large durations of the campaign before suffering a disappointing end to the term.

Silva's side lost seven of their final 11 Premier League fixtures, alongside just four victories, meaning they eventually finished 11 points behind seventh-placed Nottingham Forest.

Aiming for a positive pre-season to build a foundation for their European push next campaign, Fulham defeated Nottingham Forest 3-1 in their opening friendly fixture and will be hoping for a second consecutive win here.

Al Ittihad appear to be challenging competitors on paper, but the Tigers are heading into this friendly match having lost their two pre-season fixtures thus far.

The Tigers were defeated 4-0 by Fenerbahce in their opening friendly encounter, followed by a 3-1 loss to Vitoria in their latest match, marking a significant downturn in form compared to their title winning 2024-25 campaign.

Al Ittihad lifted their second league title in three years and 10th overall last season as they finished a comfortable eight points ahead of second-placed Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.

Laurent Blanc, in charge since July 2024, will be hoping to build on that title triumph in the upcoming 2025-26 season, but a disappointing pre-season to date will be dampening their confidence.

Team News
Timothy Castagne missed Fulham's last three matches of the Premier League season due to an ankle injury, but the defender returned to action in the second half of their first friendly game and could feature from the start here.

Elsewhere, new signing Benjamin Lecomte could be awarded his first start between the sticks, with Joachim Andersen and Calvin Bassey potentially starting in central defence.

As for Al Ittihad, Moussa Diaby is the only player to have scored for the Saudi Arabian champions during pre-season, and the winger should start again on Wednesday.

Fellow Frenchman Karim Benzema may also start as the central striker, while Steven Bergwijn and Unai Hernandez could make up the final two attackers.

Fulham possible starting lineup:
Lecomte; Castagne, Andersen, Bassey, Sessegnon; Berge, King; Wilson, Cairney, Smith Rowe; Muniz

Al Ittihad possible starting lineup:
Al-Shanqiti; Al-Mousa, Pereira, Sharahili, Rodriguez; Kante, Fabinho; Diaby, Hernandez, Bergwijn; Benzema

We say: Fulham 2-1 Al Ittihad
The Tigers may be the stronger team on paper but Fulham have enjoyed a far stronger start to their pre-season preparations than Al Ittihad, leading us to expect a win for the Cottagers.

Fulham make approach to sign £30m British ace who is set to leave Chelsea
Fulham have now made an approach to sign a "sensational" Chelsea player who is also wanted by Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to a recent report.

It's been a very quiet transfer window for the Cottagers so far, as Marco Silva's side have added just one new player to their squad, and that is goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte, who has joined from French side Montpellier. And with the Premier League season underway in less than three weeks, the club are finally stepping up their transfer plans.

The Athletic's David Orstein revealed on Saturday that Fulham are now in advanced talks to sign Reiss Nelson from Arsenal. The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Craven Cottage, where he scored one goal in 11 Premier League matches.

The Whites want to bring Nelson back to Craven Cottage on loan with either a buy option or obligation included. Fulham and Arsenal are close to reaching an agreement, but work still needs to be done on both sides for the deal to go through.

Meanwhile, Fulham have also expressed interest in signing Raheem Sterling from Chelsea. The England international has no future at Stamford Bridge after spending last season on loan at Arsenal. The Blues have placed a £20 million asking price on Sterling, who has two years left on his contract, but his £300,000-a-week wages make any deal complicated.

Fulham submit approach to sign "sensational" £30m Chelsea ace
Sterling is not the only Chelsea player wanted by the Cottagers, as according to talkSPORT, Fulham have made a formal approach to Chelsea to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The report states that the Blues value Dewsbury-Hall as a squad player, and while he is not someone they are actively looking to sell, he can leave Stamford Bridge for around £30 million

The 26-year-old, who has been dubbed "sensational" by former Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers, followed Enzo Maresca to Stamford Bridge last summer, but the Englishman hasn't been able to establish himself as a key player.

Last season, Dewsbury-Hall played 13 games in the Premier League, the same number he played in the UEFA Conference League. A potential arrival at Craven Cottage would see Dewsbury-Hall join the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Andreas Pereira, Sander Berge and Alex Iwobi as fighting for a place in Silva's midfield department.

However, they are not alone in their pursuit of the midfielder, as Wolves are also interested in Dewsbury-Hall and have identified him as a potential target in what remains of the transfer window.

Fulham transfer news: Cottagers eyeing 'creative' £5m Sterling agreement with Chelsea
Fulham could reportedly attempt to sign Chelsea's winger Raheem Sterling in a £5m loan deal in the latter stages of the transfer window.

The 30-year-old is back at Stamford Bridge after spending a season on loan at London rivals Arsenal.

Sterling was restricted to just seven starts in 17 Premier League appearances during a difficult loan spell with the Gunners.

Arsenal decided against pursuing a permanent deal, and with no pathway back to the Chelsea first team, Sterling needs to find a new club before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

Fulham preparing 'creative' Sterling offer
Bayer Leverkusen have been mentioned as a potential destination, while Napoli have been offered the chance to sign the former Manchester City attacker.

Fulham have recently emerged as a possible option, with the Cottagers believed to be keeping a close eye on other targets.

Marco Silva's side are currently focusing on other targets, but according to Stefan Borson for Football Insider, Fulham could pursue a move for Sterling towards the end of the summer window.

The report claims that they could get 'creative' with a loan proposal due to the potential stumbling block of Sterling's significant salary, which is believed to be around £350,000 a week.

Fulham may look to strike an agreement with their West London neighbours over a deal that would see them pay a £5m loan fee and half of Sterling's wages.

Why are Fulham considering Sterling?
Fulham are keen to strengthen their wide options after seeing two wingers leave at the end of the 2024-25 season.

Arsenal's Reiss Nelson was one of those who departed following his injury-hit loan spell at Craven Cottage.

However, Fulham have not been put off by Nelson's injury struggles, with the club working on a deal to bring him back to the club.

Even if Nelson signs, the Cottagers will surely look to sign another wide player to fill the void created by Willian's departure.

Sterling could be a useful addition to replace the experience of Willian, and Fulham may view him as a low-risk option if they are able to pull off a loan agreement with Chelsea.
