Fulham could make late window £5m low-ball offer to solve Chelsea's big summer problem
Chelsea are making great progress in the transfer market this summer, with even the tricky issue of Joao Felix looking to have been solved by a miracle bid from Saudi Arabia.

There is still one big money problem hanging over the sporting directors though – getting rid of Raheem Sterling and his huge wages. On Football Insider this week, Stefan Borson claimed to have inside information about one potential solution.

Sterling effectively "free transfer" says football finance expert
"The reality is Raheem Sterling is a free transfer-fee wise. The only question is how much of the salary is being paid by the new club," Borson said.

"He's on something like £350,00 a week apparently, and I think he's still got two years left and he's 31 in December. He's not played well for two years broadly.

"He's not a very attractive signing for somebody, aside from the fact that he has a history in the game and, prior to leaving City, he was considered a top player.

"I have heard Fulham are interested, but Fulham are going to be interested on the basis that we get close to the end of the window and they can take him on some kind of creative deal where maybe they pay a £5million loan fee and half his wages or something. It will be something of that order."

Chelsea can still make the best of a bad situation
It's hard to know exactly how accurate that all is, but it certainly lines up with what we would assume about this whole situation. Like with Kepa Arrizabalaga and Romelu Lukaku before him, it will be all about just gritting out teeth and finding the best offer to take us much as the winger's wages off our hands as we can, while waiting for this dreadful contract to expire.

To sell him now, even effectively for free, and remove ourselves from having to go through this nightmare all over again.

The FFC Rumour Mill: Traore to Forest and Sterling on way in?
Jack Stroudley has all the transfer gossip from the past week.

The cogs appear to finally be turning at Fulham! Marco Silva has stated in the week he understands fan frustration so hopefully we can keep moving forward. Nevertheless, here is all the gossip from the past week.

Incomings
Fulham confirmed on Saturday that Benjamin Lecomte has signed for the club on a two-year-deal from Ligue 2 side Montpellier and was in the matchday squad during our 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest in Portugal. You can read all about our new arrival here.

The other piece of confirmed news is that Seth Ridgeon has signed a long-term contract at Fulham amid interest from Manchester United. The 16-year-old is highly rated and has travelled to Portugal to be part of the first-team squad for the pre-season tour.

The Athletic reported on Saturday that Reiss Nelson to Fulham is now close with ourselves and Arsenal in advanced talks. The deal itself will consist of an option that will become an obligation if certain terms are met. You'd imagine this obligation will be based around a number of appearances Nelson makes over the course of the season with Fulham wanting to protect themselves if he were to pick up yet another nasty injury. This one feels like a matter of when rather than if.

Fulham have made a formal approach to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea, with Ben Jacobs reporting that our SW6 neighbours would want a permanent fee of more than £30m while Sky Sports are reporting that Fulham are looking to a explore a loan with an obligation at the end of this season. Two credible sources have now said we're in for Dewsbury-Hall so there is truth to it, I think that the £30m price may deter Fulham but it's one that I'm sure will rumble on.

Staying with Chelsea, Fulham also hold an interest in 30-year-old winger Raheem Sterling who's looking to reignite his career and knock on the door for a 2026 World Cup place. It's a deal that Fulham may look to do later in the window due to his high wages with Sterling interested in the move and wants to stay in London. This one feels very dependent on others, if we have a domestic loan spot left on deadline day I'd be willing to bets lots of money we'd throw a deal sheet in. Time will tell.

Outgoings
Fulhamish's Jack Kelly has been on the button this summer being the first to report that both Luke Harris and Steven Benda have both secured loan moves to the Championship with Harris joining Oxford United for the duration of the upcoming season and Benda signing for Millwall.

Kelly has also reported that Luc De Fougerolles is close to completing a loan move to the Belgian Pro League. The Canadian international has not travelled with the first-team to Portugal for pre-season.

ESPN have reported that Nottingham Forest hold an interest in winger Adama Traore with the club looking to replace Anthony Elanga a rumour that has been backed up by John Percy. Prior to John Percy reporting on this I wasn't too convinced by the credibility but Percy is a good source in terms of Midlands football sides so there will be some truth to it. Traore came on a free and with the Spaniard entering the final year of his contract, Fulham could look to sell and return a profit.

Graeme Bailey reports that Rodrigo Muniz is happy at Fulham but is aware of the Leeds United interest and could be tempted. This is one that I'm not buying, Drew Heatley put out a good article in the week talking about Muniz and his future at Fulham and personally this one feels like agent talk. Muniz is one of our lowest paid players so you'd imagine a new deal will be penned soon.

Gazzetta dello Sport believes that Sander Berge is one of many players on Juventus's radar this summer with Douglas Luiz set for a move back to the Premier League. The Italian side has suggested that Berge is "becoming a consideration" but no move has been made yet to the player or Fulham. This one feels like paper talk to me with no real concrete interest, I guess it's one to watch as Berge's head could be turned by Juve. But I'm not convinced by it.

The engine finally appears to be motoring for Fulham with one in, one close and some credible sources suggested there is more to come. A few slight whispers around departures but nothing to really write home about, let's see what happens this week.

Marco Silva speaks about failed Fulham attempt to sign Arsenal player
Aleksandar Mitrović spent five years at Fulham and left them for Al-Hilal in August 2023.

The Serbian striker was a standout player for Fulham, scoring 111 goals and registering 21 assists from 211 games. Mitrović played his last two seasons at the London club under Marco Silva's orders.

Silva has been speaking to the Portuguese media to discuss Viktor Gyökeres' move to Arsenal and O Jogo have relayed his comments.

The manager came up against the Sweden international in the Championship tie against Coventry City in October 2022. Fulham may have tried to replace Mitrović with Gyökeres in 2023 and Silva had held talks with the latter's agent.

The Premier League club weren't successful as he left Coventry City for Sporting in the summer of 2023. The frontman starred for the Lions, and this helped seal a big move to Arsenal earlier this month.

The Fulham boss dismisses suggestions that the new Gunners signing wasn't noticed a lot before he moved to Sporting.

"This story that no one had noticed Gyökeres [before Sporting] and things like that is all talk. The top clubs in England didn't notice. It's not easy for a player to go from Coventry to the top clubs in England. And, at that time, he wasn't a player ready for that leap," he said.

"Now, the mid-table clubs in England had all noticed. So much so that there were some offers. I even spoke with Gyökeres' agent, but we also had a world-class striker, Mitrović, who was very difficult to replace."

"Naturally, we noticed him; he was a player who clearly had tremendous physical strength and some good finishing ability; he improved that a lot."

"The way Coventry played at the time, with space, he was a player who made a difference. And, when he played against Fulham, we usually had 60 or 70% possession and that was the ideal game for him."

The 27-year-old Swede scored 97 goals and registered 28 assists from 107 games for Sporting. The Fulham manager remains confident he'll have an impact at Arsenal but isn't certain whether he'll be able to replicate his Sporting form at the Emirates.

"I think he'll fit into a phase of play that Arsenal also has. Perhaps, of all the teams competing for the title, they have the most solid defensive form. When they don't have the ball, if it's a little lower, it's not a big concern," Silva explained.

"And then they'll have plenty of space to exploit. They have very strong midfielders and wingers, so he'll fit in very well. In a positional attack, when Arsenal is clearly in their highest space. He'll have an impact; whether he'll have the same impact as Portugal, we'll have to see how he adapts."

Marco Silva on potential return to Portugal – Fulham manager speaks candidly about future
Fulham manager Marco Silva has spoken about a potential return to Portugal in the future as he talked about his career plans.

O Jogo have an interview with the Fulham manager today in which he insists he doesn't make long-term plans for his own career.

Silva has been in England since 2017, when he first made the move to the country to take charge of Hull City. He hasn't left since, going on to manage Watford, Everton and then Fulham, where he has been since July 2021.

His current deal at Craven Cottage runs until June 2026 so there is a big decision to be made this season about whether he extends his stay or heads somewhere new.

Silva's stock has never been higher after another strong season with Fulham that had them competing in the top half of the Premier League. Indeed, he was heavily linked with the Tottenham job before they eventually hired Thomas Frank from Brentford instead.

He's already managed Sporting Club de Portugal in his native Portugal and it seems that means he's not rushing to return home anytime soon as a result.

"I don't make big long-term plans in this regard," he said when asked if returning is in his plans.

"Throughout my career there has been this possibility, but the goal is in the Premier. I could have come back, not even worth telling where, but these hypotheses didn't happen because it wasn't possible and other times it was by personal decision, but in the short term I look at Fulham and then we'll see what's going to happen next season.

"If the opportunity arose? Let's see, my coaching life has been based on getting to the Premier League and cementing something in that competition. Maybe I'm the third or fourth coach in the league with more longevity and the goal is to be focused on my club.

"I do not know when it will happen, but I think it will happen due to my nationality and taste for my country, also realising the lack of competitiveness and that we could have already taken steps forward, but we continue to have great coaches and three, four clubs above the others.

"Portugal is not in the top five of European leagues, but we have quality clubs. I have no preference for club; it is not something that is on the radar."

Fulham interested in £30m player Enzo Maresca says is 'top level' - and it's not Raheem Sterling
Fulham are said to be interested in a Premier League player this summer.

Fulham are said to be interested in a move for a Chelsea star who could be on the move this summer. The Cottagers have been slow in the summer transfer window, with Marco Silva already expressing his concern.

He admitted recently: "Myself as a manager, and all the managers, they would prefer to have the squad almost complete in this stage of the pre-season. Until now, it's not been possible. And I understand the fans. But what I can tell them is we are working hard, we haven't started in terms of signings. But we have a lot of business to do in this market."

Fulham enjoyed a very good campaign of last, but with the rest of the Premier League spending big, as has become the norm, the Cottagers will likely need to continue to strengthen if they want to remain in contention European places. The Cottagers are said to be in the market for creative and attacking players, and according to Give Me Sport, Chelsea star Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is of interest.

Raheem Sterling has also been linked, but Dewsbury-Hall is said to be a player who is being considered, with a loan deal most likely. Chelsea would almost certainly demand their £30million investment back just one year into their relationship with Dewsbury-Hall, and that makes a loan deal more likely.

Dewsbury-Hall made 36 appearances for Chelsea last season, and he played some of his best football in the Conference League, making 13 appearances and helping the Blues win the competition. He scored five and assisted four across all competitions.

After a particularly impressive appearance in March, Maresca said of the midfielder: "I am very happy for Kiernan. He is now much better compared to the start of the season, probably because he is understanding his role. He is working very well every day in training, even if he doesn't get many minutes in the Premier League.

"It's not easy to work every day with the same intention, but he is working fantastic. He showed how important he can be for us, and hopefully he can be even more important from now on."

Tottenham memories fuel Brazilian return – Ex-Fulham striker unveiled, speaks on Kane and Mourinho
Former Fulham striker Carlos Vinicius was officially unveiled by Grêmio on Monday, and used his press conference to highlight key moments from his career in England, especially his time at Tottenham Hotspur.

Now back in Brazil after eight years in Europe, Vinicius spoke about his friendship with José Mourinho and the impact of training alongside Harry Kane, two of the biggest figures from his Premier League spell.

"Talking about José Mourinho is easy. He became a personal friend. He's a coach with many titles. I learned a lot from him – how to compete, that everything in life is a competition. He's living proof of that. I'm also grateful for what I learned from him tactically," said the 30-year-old.

On Harry Kane, the Brazilian added: "That's another easy one. He's one of the best strikers of recent years. Some people said he only scored in the Premier League, but now he's in the Bundesliga and it's hat-tricks every game. You learn from him just by watching, listening. That's what I've been doing."

Vinicius was most recently at Fulham, where he spent three seasons before leaving on a free transfer in June. As previously reported, he had been offered to Grêmio and, after a relatively lengthy negotiation, the move was finalised.

With fresh memories from England, the striker emphasised how playing in the Premier League sharpened his speed of decision-making.

"The Premier League demands quick decisions. That's the hard part at first. But when I arrived at Tottenham, I got that click sooner than expected. Once you have it, it helps a lot in the game," he explained.

Vinicius signed with Grêmio until December 2026 and he aims to follow in the footsteps of another Premier League icon, former Liverpool striker Luis Suárez, who made a major impact at the Brazilian club last year.

"Grêmio values this position. They brought Luis Suárez, and he did what he did. With God's help, I hope to be part of that same tradition of great strikers," he concluded.

Vinicius has already been registered with the Brazilian FA. The expectation is that he will be available for Saturday's match against Fluminense.

After years of bouncing across Europe's top leagues and learning from some of the game's most high-profile figures, the move to Grêmio offers more than just a return home.

It gives the former Tottenham and Fulham striker a rare chance to finally play in Brazil's top flight – and perhaps, to rediscover the version of himself that once convinced José Mourinho he belonged at Spurs.

Fulham transfer news: Marco Silva rules out summer exit for defender
Fulham manager Marco Silva has insisted there are no plans for Jorge Cuenca to leave the club this summer.

The Cottagers signed the 25-year-old from Villarreal last summer, securing him on a long-term deal until June 2028, with an option to extend by a further year.

However, Cuenca has already been linked with a move away after he failed to establish himself in the Fulham side last term.

Cuenca was restricted to just 12 appearances in all competitions, including just four starts in eight Premier League matches.

Silva rules out Cuenca exit
There has been a suggestion that he could look for a regular game time elsewhere, but Silva has confirmed that he will remain part of his squad for the 2025-26 season.

"We have four centre-backs, Silva told Portuguese outlet Canal 11. "This is my best year at the club in terms of centre-backs."

"Cuenca didn't play as much last year, but we're happy with him."

In addition to Cuenca, the Fulham boss can call upon Joachim Andersen, Calvin Bassey and Issa Diop as his main central defensive options.

What next for Cuenca and Fulham?
Cuenca suffered an injury scare during his appearance in Saturday's 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest in Portugal.

However, according to journalist Jack Kelly, Cuenca will be ready to feature in Wednesday's friendly against Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad.

The Cottagers will then wrap up their pre-season schedule with a game against Eintracht Frankfurt at Craven Cottage.

Silva's charges will kick off the new Premier League campaign with an away clash against Brighton & Hove Albion on August 16.

Fulham renew interest in 2020-21 Europa League assist king Chukwueze
Fulham have revived their interest in AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze, with the Nigeria international once again on the radar of the Premier League side ahead of a potential summer move.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, via Milan Press, the Cottagers remain keen on the 26-year-old, having come close to securing his signature during the final hours of the January transfer window.

While talks collapsed at the time, the London club have not given up on bringing the talented wide man to Craven Cottage.

Chukwueze joined AC Milan from Villarreal, where he played a pivotal role in the Spanish club's triumphant 2020–2021 Europa League campaign.

He finished the competition as the top assist provider, delivering a series of standout performances as the Yellow Submarine lifted the trophy for the first time in their history.

Despite arriving with high expectations and a reputation as one of the most electrifying young wingers in Europe, the Super Eagles star has struggled to replicate his La Liga form.

In 69 appearances across all competitions for the Rossoneri, Chukwueze has registered just 14 goal contributions—well short of the 66 goal involvements he racked up in 207 appearances for Villarreal, where he won the Europa League in 2021.

Milan's failure to secure Champions League qualification has heightened the need to reduce their wage bill and generate funds for reinforcements, placing Chukwueze among the players who could be moved on.

The Nigerian, who still has three years remaining on his deal at San Siro, publicly admitted the 2024–2025 season was the most challenging of his professional career.

GdS: Fulham 'secretly studying' possibility of Chukwueze move – the details
One of the players who could leave AC Milan this summer is Samuel Chukwueze, who has not established a place in the team since joining.

When Milan signed Chukwueze, there was a lot of hope. A dynamic winger who was shining regularly in the Spanish top flight and in Europe under Unai Emery. However, Christian Pulisic also arrived in the same summer. We know how that ended.

Of course, there have been glimpses of his ability. But, it seems increasingly likely that the Nigerian's future lies away from the Rossoneri colours. Instead, a move to England could be possible, and interest is present.

Heading to England?
Per reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, the forward is being linked to Premier League outfits, with the Diavolo deeming him as 'surplus'. It is no secret that the new regime wants a smaller squad and Chukwueze could be one of the sacrifices.

As MilanNews relayed from that report, Fulham are looking at the winger 'secretly' and are trying to see if there are any possibilities of a move to England. There have been previous links to a London move before, and it seems that the interest has never faded. It could certainly be explored.

Fulham transfer news: Cottagers 'retain interest' in re-signing Tottenham-linked midfielder
Fulham are reportedly still interested in a deal to re-sign Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Palhinha made 79 competitive appearances during his two-year stint as a Fulham player, before he completed a permanent transfer to Bayern Munich last summer.

The Portugal international struggled for game time in his first season with the Bavarians, settling for just six starts in 17 Bundesliga appearances.

There is a belief that Palhinha could now leave the Allianz Arena in a bid to gain regular minutes elsewhere.

Fulham targeting Palhinha loan switch
Last month, it was reported that Fulham were interested in a deal to bring the midfielder back to Craven Cottage.

According to journalist Jack Kelly, the Cottagers still 'retain an interest' in re-signing the 30-year-old before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

There is a belief that Palhinha is likely to leave Bayern on a loan deal, rather than seal a permanent exit just one year after joining the Bundesliga giants.

Fulham are seemingly keen to strengthen in the middle of the park, considering that they are also an admirer of Chelsea's Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Marco Silva's current central midfield options include Sander Berge, Sasa Lukic, Tom Cairney, Harrison Reed and Josh King.

Tottenham could battle Fulham in Palhinha race
Fulham could face competition if they decide to seriously pursue a deal for Palhinha in the next month or so.

Fellow London club, Tottenham Hotspur, are among the clubs that could rival Fulham in the race for the Bayern man.

As per Sebastien Vidal, Tottenham are preparing a £45m offer after holding talks with Bayern over a potential transfer.

Manchester United are another club that have been mentioned as a possible suitor for a player who is under contract with Bayern until June 2028.

The genius Nottingham Forest and Fulham transfer swap deal that could ignite their summer windows
Nottingham Forest are preparing for the start of the 2025/26 Premier League season

Nottingham Forest are gearing up for life in the Europa League next season. Nuno Espirito Santo guided them to qualification after their eye-catching performance in the last campaign. The Reds need to ensure that they have enough depth in their squad now to deal with the increased number of fixtures that will be coming their way.

Nuno has done an impressive job since he was picked as their replacement for Steve Cooper back in 2023. Prior to his move to the City Ground, he had spells at Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur. He has worked wonders with his current club and will want their progress to continue.

Nottingham Forest eye Fulham attacker Adama Traore
Forest are interested in a move for Fulham winger Adama Traore this summer, according to The Telegraph. The attacker has emerged as a target for the Reds in this window. He has worked with Nuno before at Wolves and is a player who he knows and trusts.

Traore, 29, is out of contract at Craven Cottage in June 2026 and his long-term future in London is up in the air at this moment in time. The Whites risk losing him for free next year if they don't cash in on him now or in January, assuming he doesn't pen an extension anytime soon. Therefore, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him head out of the exit door before the deadline on Monday 1st September.

The ex-Spain international, who made eight caps, has been with the Cottagers since joining them back in 2023. He has made 59 appearances in all competitions and has scored four goals. Prior to his transfer, he had spells with the likes of Barcelona, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Wolves.

Nottingham Forest could see Traore as someone to boost their attacking department. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth going forward. In addition, he would inject more pace and power in their squad.

The Reds are a side who like to play on the counter attack and his speed would suit their style of play. They have a vacancy to fill following Anthony Elanga's exit to Newcastle United and the Spaniard would fit the bill. He also knows their head coach already and is experienced in English football so it wouldn't take him long to settle in if he joined.

Nottingham Forest should offer Jota Silva transfer swap deal
Nottingham Forest snapped up Jota Silva around 12 months ago but it remains to be seen whether he will be sticking around for another year. He hasn't managed to make the impact he would have wanted to so far. The 25-year-old made 37 outings last term, many of which were off the bench, and he scored four times. In an attempt to lure Traore away from Fulham, they should offer Jota as part of a swap deal. That would suit both parties involved and would ensure that neither get left short changed. Both players involved would likely benefit from a change of scene.

Jota may feel he still has a lot to give in this country but his chances of regular minutes at Forest are slim at the moment due to competition for places. He would probably get more opportunities with the Cottagers if he decided to leave. They are managed by a fellow Portuguese man in Marco Silva and operate an attractive style of play. The Portugal international caught the eye at Vitória de Guimarães before the Reds came calling for his services. He found the net on 20 occasions in 83 matches for the Portuguese club. The forward has also had stints in the past with Espinho, Leixoes and Casa Pia.

Nottingham Forest's recruitment over recent times has generally been pretty positive but Jota is one who hasn't quite managed to make the grade required. Traore would be better suited to them so if they could find a way to swap the duo, that would make a lot of sense. Nuno's side face Brentford at home in their first game of the new season.

Fulham U21 3-2 Woking
Fulham Under-21s recorded an entertaining 3-2 win over Woking on Tuesday evening.

In a rampant first-half display, goals from Terrell Works, Farhaan Ali Wahid and Olly Sanderson gave us a three-goal cushion at the interval.

Woking grew in the second period - and it was striker Inih Effiong and Tunji Akinola who scored for the Cardinals to set up an interesting final few minutes.

Hayden Mullins made three changes to the side that beat Braintree Town on Friday, with Charlie Robinson captaining the side as he continues to build up his match minutes following his return from injury.

Robinson nearly offered a timely reminder as to what he can offer, with his diving header from a Tom Olyott corner nestling against the side netting early on.

Olyott then took it upon himself to try and break the deadlock, shimmying inside onto his left foot before seeing a shot blocked.

The opening goal was deserved, and it was some way to break the deadlock too. Chibby Nwoko's defence-splitting pass freed Ali Wahid down the left – and he pulled the ball back to Works who finished into the corner to continue his fine pre-season form.

The dominance continued as Sanderson was the next player to see his shot take a nick and go behind for a corner.

A second goal soon followed – and it was arguably just as pleasing on the eye as the first. Roles were reversed this time as Works slid in Ali Wahid, who kept his compsure when one-on-one with Craig Ross, lofting the ball delightfully over the Woking goalkeeper.

Rewarded for plenty of selfless running during the first period, Sanderson headed home on 40 minutes, rising highest to meet an inviting cross from the left.

Home chances weren't quite as regular after the break, and instead it was Neal Ardley's side pushing, as Luke Hall tested Marco Underwood with a volley.

The visitors were then presented with an opportunity from the penalty spot after Underwood fouled Effiong – and the striker got up and converted from 12 yards.

Pressure kept coming as Josh Osude struck the crossbar, before Tariq Hinds was left frustrated that nobody met his cutback after working hard to reach the byline.

Hinds' next cross was successful, picking out Akinola from the right to set up an interesting finale.

The visitors continued to rally as Aiden O'Brien was denied in stoppage-time by Underwood.

Our U21s held out for another impressive pre-season victory, with just a fortnight to go until the competitive campaign begins.

Underwood; Gofford (Slade 75'), Robinson (Nsasi 45'), Amissah (Aruajo 45'), De Jesus; Nwoko (Walters 80'), Quashie, Works (Zepa 60'); Olyott (White 65'), Sanderson, Ali Wahid.
