I know the competition was weak but I'm so excited by this guy, could he be the deep lying playmaker England have been crying out for? Seems to have that rare mix of defensive solidity plus creativity.

We tried out Angel Gomes but he looked a bit suspect defensively, lacking pace and aggression. Mainoo is an out and out attacking mid that lacked the positional discipline required. Then you have Wharton, who never seems to be fit when England are playing.

On the other hand you have Rice, Henderson and Gallagher who are defensively solid but far more conservative with their passing.
