In case you missed it, Fulham officially announced the signings of Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios. Both players signing from Real Madrid, where they managed to perform exceedingly well for their youth team, as well as featuring in the senior side.

We're finally completing deals - so what's next and what can we expect?

Well, the first two signings are over the line (excluding JKA's permanent deal) and there's plenty to be excited about. Especially as one of the deals finally fills a gap that needed filling since Mitrovic left. A true number 9.

Now that we have Gonzalo Garcia in the squad, our striking options look a lot stronger with Muniz and Jonah supporting the new Spaniard.

There's a lot of pressure on young shoulders with Gonzalo, but I wouldn't be surprised if he notches up 10-13 league goals next season, even as he transitions from a side that isn't always going to dominate the ball as he may have been used too in Madrid.

With Gonzalo, he represents a different profile to what we have had previously under the Marco Silva reign, which typically favoured a more traditional target man, who played with his back towards goal to feed the attacking midfielders more and pin the two CB's back.

While Gonzalo isn't shy of the rough side of football, his willingness to run the channels, come deep for a quick 1-2 and break the lines is more what we will see over the course of the season. His high intensity pressing should force mistakes and remind some fans of the work-rate we glaringly missed in Andreas' exit 2 years ago.

That willingness to press, tackle and harass the backline will certainly bring goals this season, so don't be shocked when that does happen.

The other thing to note with Gonzalo, once settled, we'll likely see him drift to the channels more than our previous 9s. The former Real Madrid man is confident with the ball at his feet and linking up in tight spaces. Combine that with Arbeloa's insistence of playing on the front-foot, expect both full-back and wingers to overlap Gonzalo in transition as we try to force an opportunity behind.

Playing Fantasy Football this season? Sessegnon will be a player that thrives with Garcia in the team if Ryan starts the season at LB. A sign that we've already seen in pre-season with him heavily getting forward and into the box.

As for Palacios, he's been given the 8 shirt which suggests that Arbeloa will want to involve him from the get-go. A senior run of games potentially may be too early for the midfielder, as I have a feeling he will need more time to adapt. But, this is a player that Arbeloa knows very well, so don't be surprised if the midfielder, who naturally wants to play central, starts out wide in the early stages of his Fulham career.

As mentioned in the previous post, Palacios brings a wealth of technical ability, and once he settles to the physical demands of English Football, we really will have a player on our hands. A player that wants to operate centrally,  break through the lines, and incredibly strong distributor of the football.

As for what's next....

Well, our search for a centre back seems to have stalled - as a deal for Chibuike Nwaiwu has broken down.

The Nigerian would have been perfect for what Arbeloa wanted to build, but it seems Trabzonspor have been difficulty to negotiate with, and while a deal looked set many weeks ago, the goalposts keep getting moved. Forcing Fulham to explore other targets for this position.

Therefore, I wouldn't be too surprised if a CB comes late in the window, and our partnership of Bassey with either Cuenca or Andersen starts the season. With the expectation that whoever arrives in this window to partner Bassey as the season develops.

There's also been talk of another Real Madrid midfielder joining the team in Thiago Pitarch.

If you believe the reporters, this one looks set to be done with Fulham making it a hat-trick of Madrid youth players joining this window.

Pitarch is similar to Palacios, except he is more comfortable playing deeper than Cesar is.

A footballer with an incredibly low centre of gravity, ability to hassle and break down play, as well as look to play forward when he has a chance. This makes Pitarch arguably the midfielder we cried out for last season when Berge & Lukic looked too conservative at times.

Although, like Palacios and Garcia, recruiting Pitarch does come with some element of risk, due to his lack of experience, but the strategy here is to trust Arbeloa and given the reviews of Pitarch from Madrid fans, he should be one to be excited about. With many Madrid fans saying he was the brightest spark from the academy.

Should Pitarch arrive this summer, he is recovering from a minor injury, so wouldn't be available immediately for a full 90 minutes, but that shouldn't stop the team from bringing him in.

With Pitarch potentially arriving, that does spell the end of Sasa Lukic's time at Craven Cottage, which I think is sad to see. The Serbian midfielder certainly fits the mould of midfielders that are great at everything, but not a specialist in any role. While, he will do well with Ipswich as they need experience in that midfield to control a game, Lukic wasn't the ideal fodder in this team to partner Berge. A fee of around £10m is being quoted, which seems cheap for a player of Lukic's ability, but Fulham needed a rebuild and if replacing core players with younger talents is the direction this summer, then this makes sense.

Ultimately, this summer feels different.

For the first time in a while, Fulham aren't simply looking for players with Premier League experience to plug gaps. They are targeting young footballers with high ceilings, technical quality and profiles that fit exactly how Arbeloa wants this side to play.

Of course, there is risk attached to that approach. Garcia, Palacios and potentially Pitarch have the talent, but very little senior experience. There will be moments where they need time, patience and the backing of supporters as they adapt to the demands of English football.

But that is the trade off.

If Fulham truly believe Arbeloa is the right man to lead this new era, then backing him with players he knows, trusts and understands makes complete sense. Nobody is better placed to judge whether these young talents are ready than the coach who helped develop them.

It is a bold strategy and one that could easily be questioned if results do not arrive immediately. Equally, if Arbeloa is right, Fulham could have assembled the foundations of a young, exciting side capable of growing together over the next few seasons.

That is what makes this window so fascinating. There is uncertainty, but there is also genuine optimism. The club are taking a calculated gamble, placing their faith in a manager with a clear vision rather than chasing safe, short term solutions.

Now it is up to Arbeloa and this new generation to prove that faith was well placed.

I understand that Real have a Buy Back Clause inserted for each of the transfers which is applicable from their second (or third?) season. I am uncertain exactly what this involves and can they just take any of them back for their transfer price when Real decide they are ready?

I imagine this will either be two fold.

Either they have a first refusal in the second season if someone bids.

Alternatively, they get a percentage of sale for the next one. Maybe that's just profit who knows.

In previous or similar deals, they've had set buy back deals. For example they bought back Paz this summer then sold him back to Como. All fees pre agreed.

Not sure if that's allowed in the UK market though.

IMHO unless stated, I'd roll with the assumption of a first refusal and a sell on split.
