NFR - avoiding results

Sometimes I do everything I can to avoid a result for a sport that I can't watch live. A few weeks ago I avoided hearing an American Football result as I was going to watch it 2 hours after it had finished. Then 5 mins after I started watching I got a message from a friend saying 'good win for the Patriots'.

This morning I turned the radio off and decided not to open the BBC website to avoid the F1 result. My Google landing page has a big picture of the winner on it. But no spoilers from me. Serves me right for wanting to see any Fulham news.

Glad that I am watching Fulham Southampton live today.

There was a episode of 'The likely lads' and they were trying to avoid the result of an Bulgaria vs England game and throughout the day they kept getting little bits of clues which lead them to guessing what the result might be. They sat down that evening to watch the game, turned on the TV only to find out it had been postponed I think due to a waterlogged pitch.

My favourite is when I go to the skysports highlights not knowing the results.... the description often tells the result so I have to find someone to click and full screen the video for me.

Was trying to avoid Man Utd v FFC score some years ago. About half an hour in I got a text from my brother: "Utd's 3rd goal definitely offside"......

I watched the "highlights" on youtube this morning and no idea of the result till the end.
Is a dream a lie if it don't come true?

I remember that one - brilliant programme, one of my favourites years ago

As a school kid I managed to avoid a result from a midweek game as we were on Sports night at some ungodly hour, sat through speedway and Greyhound racing before they get to our game,
I can't remember whether or not we scored or the opposition scored, but my dear old Dad immediately stood up and said "right I'm going up, unplug the TV when you come up ! "
As you can imagine, no more goals were scored.

I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

Hilarious thread!!   :slap:  :slap:

If you're really trying to avoid learning a result, you've got to store yourself in a box! Ha!
No tv, no radio, no cell phone and don't even look at it or respond to a notification, no laptop, no nothing.....period!!  Funny stuff.....
