Fulham transfer news: Cottagers '£31m deal' for USA international with medical plan revealed
Fulham have reportedly reached an agreement to sign USA international Ricardo Pepi from PSV Eindhoven.

The Cottagers attempted to sign Pepi in the winter transfer window, but PSV were reluctant to part ways at the midway point of the season.

However, Fulham have refused to give up on their pursuit and have made significant progress in their efforts to bring the forward to Craven Cottage.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Fulham have reached a 'verbal agreement' with PSV over a deal to sign Pepi this summer.

However, there is uncertainty surrounding the Mexican's future at the club, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

Even if Jimenez signs an extension, Fulham will want to bring in a forward who has the potential to be a long-term replacement for the 34-year-old.

Pepi has certainly showcased his goalscoring credentials with PSV, netting 39 goals in 95 appearances, including 10 goals in 19 matches in the 2025-26 Eredivisie season.

Fulham boss Marco Silva responds to Cottagers boo-boys – and provides updates on key attackers ahead of Forest
MARCO Silva said he would have booed the side if he had been a fan in the stands after his heavily rotated Fulham lost 1-0 at home to Championship Southampton in the fifth round of the FA Cup last weekend.

Despite having only a further nine scheduled games in March, April and May, Silva still made nine changes to the side that had lost 1-0 at home to West Ham United in the Premier League four days previously.

Ross Stewart scored a stoppage-time penalty for Saints and the home side were booed off the pitch after the final whistle.

"I understand all the frustrations," Siva said in his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.  I know that the narrative is going to be about the changes. I said about the players we played in our front line, all the millions we spent and we don't win that game? Wow. I understand the reaction. I don't look at social media.

"We didn't react against West Ham after a great result against Spurs. We didn't react against Southampton. Now I expect us to stand up. We have to try and be better against Forest, it's an important game."

The Cottagers are tenth and can still qualify for Europe this season.

Silva added: "I don't forget what the expectations were five years ago, four years ago, three, two. I don't forget. I can go even deeper, I can go ten years or fifteen years ago when I was not here. I love the expectations, I love them – because I put them there myself."

"If at the beginning of the season I say, 'it's just about not getting relegated, to remain in Premier League again', everyone is going to be happy because we are in the middle of the table, still fighting for Europe. But no, I put the ambition and expectation there because it's the way I like to manage the football club.

"If you lose a game, you have to expect the frustration from the fans. I repeat again, if I'm there in the stands, I'm probably going to react in the same way. Simple as that."

Meanwhile, Silva gave updates on two of his key attackers, with forward Raul Jimenez not training after the death of his father.

Silva said: "It is really sad news and a moment for us to support him. He wasn't in the session this morning and he knows what he needs from myself, from team-mates, staff and the football club, he will get all of the support he needs.

"Harry Wilson is going to be in contention for the game, we have another session and we do have to assess him again.

"We have some doubts if one player will be ready for the game but we don't want to mention who yet."

Bassey: Achieve something great
Calvin Bassey insists motivations remain as high as ever in the Fulham camp, going into the business end of the campaign.

After three matches without a win in all competitions, Premier League Productions asked if the team had 'lost their edge' – a notion that Bassey quickly shut down.

"No, I don't feel like there's no edge," he said. "The edge hasn't been lost. I feel like the Manager would never let us lose it.

"When you see him, when he speaks, he's so passionate every single time, every single session, and he's honestly like that every time on the pitch, until the last game of the season, he's on us. And I think that helps us to stay motivated, as well as motivating ourselves.

"We feel like we're so close to our goal, so for us, the atmosphere in the changing room is excitement, because we know we've got a chance to do something amazing, achieve something great, so we're just taking each game as it is.

"Sounds a bit cliché, but it's honestly all we can do. We're just focused on ending the season strong and finishing where we want to finish. That's the most important thing for us."

Bassey has made no secret of his desire to secure European qualification with Fulham, something that remains firmly in his sights with 24 points still up for grabs.

"If you look at the last two/three seasons, we've been in and around it, and then the last four/five games it's sort of got away from us, [but] we're right there now," the defender stated. "We've got eight games left and I feel like we can really push and achieve it.

"We're four points behind seventh, so it's all very close, that's why each game matters, and each point matters."

The next opportunity for points sees us host Burnley at a sold out Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Asked what victory in that one would do for our ambitions, Bassey replied: "It would make a big difference. I checked the table and we'd jump about three spaces with three points, of course if other results go in our favour.

"Each point is so vital at this stage, and for us it's just making sure we do everything we can to win the game."

Despite his concerns, De Boer understands exactly why Pepi is tempted. The Premier League remains the ultimate destination, the league where careers accelerate and salaries soar.

"The Premier League is still the best league in the world. They can do whatever they want," he concluded.

Now Fulham have matched their ambition with some big spending of their own. Across Europe, the same question is being asked: how can anyone compete with the Premier League?

Harrison Reed to Southampton? Tonda Eckert should push to seal emotional Fulham transfer
Southampton, despite a torrid beginning to their return to the Championship, have clawed their way back up the table under Tonda Eckert, and with less than ten games to go, the Saints find themselves within play-off contention.

It's certainly been a season of two halves for Southampton.

The South Coast outfit returned to the Championship this campaign after suffering a demoralising relegation from the Premier League last year, and chose former Reims and Lens boss Will Still as the person to guide them into their new era.

Unfortunately, Still couldn't replicate his excellent work from his time in Belgium and France at St Mary's, and was dismissed after just four wins in 16 games and replaced by the club's Under-21's boss, Tonda Eckert.

Since Eckert took the reins, it has culminated in a remarkable rise up the division, with impressive wins over Coventry City, Queens Park Rangers, and Leicester City, all in different circumstances, as well as knocking Premier League side Fulham out of the FA Cup at Craven Cottage.

In the midfield that day for the Cottagers was 31-year-old English midfielder Harrison Reed, who could be the subject of a move between the two clubs as early as this summer.

Harrison Reed is in his seventh full season with Fulham, having initially joined the West London club from Southampton on loan in the summer of 2019.

Reed had spent two previous loan spells with both Norwich City and Blackburn Rovers, having come through the ranks at St Mary's, but never really establishing himself in the first team, making just 30 senior appearances for the Saints.

He'd eventually join Fulham permanently alongside Mario Lemina in a double deal, with Reed's fee reported to have been around £6 million, which has proven to be a bargain for the Cottagers.

Reed has since gone on to make over 200 appearances for Fulham under both Scott Parker and Marco Silva, though his game time has dwindled over the past few years, having played just 23 minutes of Premier League football this season, with the rest of his seven appearances coming in cup competitions.

Under contract until the summer of 2027, with Fulham possessing an option to extend for a further year if they so wish, Reed is not expected to leave West London imminently, though that shouldn't deter Southampton from attempting to convince the midfielder to make a return this summer.

Caspar Jander had reportedly attracted interest from the likes of RB Leipzig, Stuttgart, and Ajax, as well as Premier League clubs in the recent window, whilst Shea Charles has long been on the radar of West Ham, with exits for the Saints duo a real possibility this summer.

In any instance, Reed should remain a target for Eckert, with his experience of both Championship and Premier League football a huge factor in why he would be an attractive option, as well as, of course, the fact that he came through the ranks there.

Whether or not Southampton are playing in the first or second tier next season, Reed should be a target for Eckert, and the German should do everything he can to sanction a move for the out-of-favour midfielder.

Tonda Eckert should target Harrison Reed this summer, regardless of what division they are in
With Southampton unsure about which division they will be playing their football in next season, few plans can be made when it comes to transfer targets.

If they miraculously make their way to the play-off final and are victorious, then their preparations for Premier League football would, of course, be very different from planning for another year in the Championship.

Though Reed could be a target for them regardless of which division they find themselves in.

With over 125 Premier League appearances under his belt, despite his decrease in minutes over the years, he is still more than capable of doing a job in the top flight, whereas with over 130 Championship appearances to his name, he would certainly be one of the best midfielders in the division if he were to return to the second tier.

With Silva having no real place for Reed in his current plans, aside from in cup competitions, the Portuguese boss is unlikely to stand in his way should he want to return to his boyhood club, and likely wouldn't break the bank either.

It's a move that makes sense in any outcome for the Saints, and one Eckert should absolutely consider doing.

What does this deal for Pepi tell us about the future?
With the Whites finally set to land our man, what can we glean from this early deal?

"If at first you don't succeed..."

Many of us expected the Whites to come back in for PSV's USMNT striker Ricardo Pepi, but not many would've expected the deal to come so soon. With more than two months - and eight games - left of the Premier League season, many outlets are reporting that a verbal deal between the two clubs has been announced, which paves the way for the forward to join the club ahead of the 2026/27 season.

With so many question marks surrounding more than a few key figures at FFC, it's a welcome dose of good news - but what could it possibly mean for this summer and beyond?

Fulham are trying to out-run the SCR tidal wave
Matt Littlejohn went over it in great detail, so I'll not recap his fantastic piece, only to say that he points out that the incoming Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) rules are going to drastically impact the way we do business. This deal continues to illustrate that.

With such limited football-related revenue streams (which become even more restricted if we can't count our Riverside hotel and restaurants), we have to look to our playing squad for some of the more significant cash injections. That means buying young, developing, and selling on at a profit. That strategy comes with "in an ideal world" firmly written in the small print, but for it to work you need part one - the young players.

Kevin, Oscar Bobb, and now Pepi. We're targeting players in their early 20s - for big money - presumably with a view to benefitting from their rise before selling them on in their prime.

Does this give an indication of Marco's future?
In order to realise a return on investment, we need a coaching structure that'll polish these rough diamonds.

For a club that normally does the majority of its business on Deadline Day, it's hard not to read into what a mid-March deal might mean. Part of me is desperate to assume it means Marco Silva has given the board enough confidence that he intends to stay in SW6.

This season is far from over - and our feelings towards the general on-pitch and in-dugout setup could change drastically between now and the end of May. But every time I think about life after Marco, I look at who - realistically - we could bring in to replace him, and I'm not sure there is anyone on par available now or in the summer - and certainly no upgrades.

Silva has always been open about his frustration with our transfer policy and activity. Perhaps this slight shift in gears from the club has assuaged those irritations.

Fulham may actually want to secure European football
This point is the most tenuous, but stay with me.

Pepi's enjoyed Champions League football this season. We've fended off interest from West Ham and Everton to secure his services. The latter club is the interesting one, because I have them as far more likely to enjoy midweek trips to Latvia next season than us. But perhaps Ricardo doesn't - or perhaps the club's told him we're going all-out to get there.

I've long held the suspicion the board just isn't that keen on us qualifying for Europe. It'd require a significant cash injection to bring more bodies in to cope with the increased schedule, and as we've seen from a regular 38-game season (plus cups), our batteries last until around the time the first daffodils start to bloom.

But the signs look encouraging - and anything is still possible. And if we miss out this term, but commit to a summer of squad enhancement led by young hungry players whose value could skyrocket - then our fortunes could skyrocket with them.

We just have to show the same determination on the pitch as we've shown off it in our pursuit of Ricardo.
