So farewell then Marco Silva.

It's worth pondering a little on his record with us. Yes we can gripe about missed opportunities in cups (eg Palace, Southampton) or in the league (eg Bournemouth, Wolves this season) and some limp passionless performances. We can also gripe about odd selections and odd purchases, and the club didn't "push on" as it should have in the last season. But we must also recognise some superb performances in the five years: three 7-0 wins, two 5-0 home wins in the space of four days, wins over Chelsea, Spurs, Man Utd, memorable wins over Brentford and so on. Overall it has been a very good five seasons, perhaps rating "Silva's reign" as eight out of ten, comfortably OK rather than outstanding.

Silva oversaw 229 competitive games with FFC: 198 league games in the Championship/PL, 16 FA Cup ties and 15 League Cup ties.

His overall league record with FFC is P198 W85 D40 L73 GF317 GA262, a win ratio of just under 43% (38% if just PL). Points secured 295. In terms of goals per game it's 1.6, distorted by the 106 scored in that first season in the Championship. Goals per game in the PL obviously lower at 1.39 GPG. League goals conceded: 1.32 a game and in the PL a creditable 1.35.

Clean sheets? 50 in league games (17 Championship, 33 PL).

Disappointing that one more clean sheet or one more win this season would have got us into Europe next season but things could have been worse.

Will always remember one January in the Championship beating Birmingham 6-2 (this after a 7-0 win at Reading and another 6-2 home win !)

Thanks for the stats Richard. Thanks Marco. 106 goals when winning the Championship. Before you, recently any promotion to the Premier saw us making up the numbers being certs to go straight back down, and we did. I was surprised we didn't sign Yo Yo Toure. We have won at grounds we rarely used used to, ie it was 61 years since a win at Stamford Bodge in the top flight. (I was there) For the first time ever we made the semi final of the League Cup and were so close to going 0-2 up at Anne Field. We enjoyed good cup runs and have never been near relegation, we may have tailed off this season but ended just two points short of Europe. Thanks Marco  and good luck.

So will I! I think to score 7 twice away in a season was the first time for 100 years. (I may be wrong)
