Now that Everton have signed Hayden Hackney, its just as well we can make the most of Real Madrid academy prospects.....

What we need to remember here is there might be a nugget or two we can entice but it's very unlikely we would not be anywhere near prising the main academy prospects from Real Madrid and if there were one or two available there are a lot more bigger fish than us ready to pounce. I would hope the ones we can entice will be good enough to make a significant difference on the basis it probably does not get any better than Real Madrid when it comes to coming through the system?
Then you have to think if they have not developed physically at their age there coming in to a league which can be unforgiving and very difficult to adjust. Normally there good technically but we have a few non physical type in first team squad and not sure we need anymore.

This would suggest that Real have the 9th best academy in the world..It also suggests fewer players graduate, but when they do they get more minutes than their contemporaries. Make of that what you will

It also shows our scouting department is not up to the task and not fit for purpose, given that if Arbeloa is appointed, we are relying solely on his knowledge for future prospects.

Where are these other players coming from, we aren't going to be strong enough by simply signing Castilla players.

But does it though??

Como bought Nico Paz for 6 mio from Real and then came 4th in Serie A with him as the star player......Inter then wanted him and were prepared to pay 60 mio so Real triggered the buyback clause at 9 mio....so Como then bought him back for 60 mio......there are bargains to be had in the Real youth team...

Eh? Just because we've had some links to Real madrid players it means all that?

We just signed JKA from Bayern who presumably we scouted prior. And we are always scouting young players to join our academy - an academy that frequently outcompetes our senior club level at youth level.

Marco suggested he does like experience, which can explain some of the signings in his tenure but naturally we shift and adapt around managers and their wants to some degree.

With the focus shifting towards youth, we bought Kevin and JKA from abroad... and now naturally where we might not well have been an obvious destination for some of these real madrid kids - we now have a manager with a direct link to them who's managed them before - so naturally makes sense to listen to him and give him a say in who of their youth team might be worth bringing in...and those kids will have more of a reason to come here than they ever would have before so there's an actual realistic shot at signing one or 2

We've also been heavily linked prior to AA being mentioned to players like wagner pina and the other young tranzponsor players like the CB who we allegedly have bid for 🤷🏻 I dont think it's a matter of being incapable...we've just had a different criteria and profile under previous manager whop valued experience... for where we were at when first returning to the league.

Highly doubt and haven't seen anything to suggest the only players we bring in will be from Madrids academy

Yup! Agree with this. Just a little disappointed that we have missed out on another good signing as we did with Dewsbury-Hall to Everton last pre-season.

Yeh agree I was disappointed about KDH, if we ever were in for him/if he was interested.

Hackney certainly seems a good prospect and that's not a terrible price, but same goes for the Madrid lads in that position so we'll have to see what transpires. Pitarch who plays CM looks like he has the tools to be elite, so would be surpised if we can get that over the line. If not hopefully there are other options still on the cards if we revisit Atta/Danilo etc

I have always kept in touch and watched our academy since it was started by Jennings seems along while could be 20 years at a guest and it is strange after all this time we are pushing them through earlier getting them in 21s quicker at a tender age chelsea have done it years ago and we use to beat them our boys were 18 theirs were 15 to 16 now we are doing that also our owners are doing that now by and sell more scope this should have been implemented from the start it tells me someone has whispered in their ear and it wasn't staff or Jennings or Marco he was intent on keeping them to they were nothing or selfishly not getting some like getting wilson to sign up as silva was leaving and was only for himself saying we will meet again later,we'll you know what I would say to that go and do one silva, your actions are making late additions to coach and recruits hope they sack you.
