World Cup 2026: Timo's Belgium knock out Jedi's USA

Fulham full-backs Timothy Castagne and Antonee Robinson went head-to-head as Belgium booked their place in the World Cup Quarter-Finals with a 4-1 victory over co-hosts the United States in Seattle.

Castagne nearly helped his side make the perfect start, forcing Matt Freese into a smart save with a curling effort from outside the box.

Belgium did take the lead soon after through Charles De Ketelaere, but the USA responded when Malik Tillman levelled from a free-kick for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

The advantage was restored minutes later courtesy of the Atalanta forward, before Belgium pulled clear in the second half.

Hans Vanaken capitalised on a Freese error to make it 3-1, with Romelu Lukaku adding a late fourth to seal Belgium's progression.

Congratulations to Timothy Castagne, who will now take on Spain in the Quarter-Finals on Friday, while commiserations go to Antonee Robinson and the USA.

Leeds United fight Sunderland for South American – €20m+ needed, Fulham offer rejected
Fulham have been linked with a move for Parma's Mariano Troilo, who is now also of interest to Leeds United and Sunderland.

The centre-back had an impressive 2025/26 campaign with the Italian side. It was his first campaign outside of South America, as Parma shelled out €8m to sign him from Belgrano.

Troilo started the season slowly and took time to get to grips with Serie A. But he grew in stature in 2026, starting 17 league games. He impressed for Parma in their 1-0 win over AC Milan at the San Siro.

That is when Fulham's interest first emerged in the defender. Sport Witness covered how the London club's first offer was about to land on Parma's table.

Now, interest from Leeds United and Sunderland has been pushed forward.

Parma's price clear
ParmaLive report about the 23-year-old, noting that Fulham were willing to offer as much as €20m for him. This wasn't enough for the Italian club, who sent a firm rejection.

This hasn't stopped English interest. Leeds United are in the picture and Sunderland are also offering competition.

The outlet state no new offers have landed on Parma's table. Carlos Cuesta's side are in no rush to execute a sale. Troilo is viewed as the heart of the club's project and the Spaniard has a lot of admiration for the Argentine.

This doesn't mean he will definitely stay, though. Parma want over €20m from Leeds United, Sunderland or Fulham. If that is offered, talks will heat up.

Value can rise next season
Parma have shown themselves to be a selling club and that reputation is only growing. Zion Suzuki and Mateo Pellegrino can leave this summer, with Giovanni Leoni having departed for Liverpool last year.

That is why this should be a significant opportunity for Leeds United and Sunderland.

There is every chance Troilo's value increases in the next year. Therefore, now may good time to buy.

Sunderland, Leeds United and Fulham linked with £17m transfer race for highly-rated centre-back
Sunderland are reportedly among the clubs linked with Parma centre-back Mariano Troilo after Fulham saw a bid rejected

Sunderland have been credited with interest in Parma centre-back Mariano Troilo, with Leeds United and Fulham also linked with the Argentine defender.

According to ParmaLive, Fulham have already shown interest in the 23-year-old and were willing to offer around £17million for the defender. That proposal was reportedly rejected by Parma, who are said to want more than that figure before entering serious talks over a possible sale.

Troilo joined Parma from Belgrano last summer in a deal worth around £6.8million, with the 2025-26 campaign his first season outside South America. After a slow start in Serie A, the defender grew in stature during the second half of the campaign and went on to start 17 league games. One of his standout performances came in Parma's 1-0 win over AC Milan at the San Siro, which is when Fulham's interest is said to have first emerged.

Iker Casillas cannot hide how much Fulham star impresses him
Oscar Bobb came on for Norway after half time of their match against Brazil and contributed to their 2-1 win against the Brazilians in the World Cup round of 16. The winger made a positive impact after being introduced and helped his side secure an impressive victory to reach the next stage of the competition.

Bobb has struggled to earn a place in the starting line-up for his country as he is behind Alexander Sorloth and Antonio Nusa in the attacking positions. The national team manager has consistently preferred those two players, with both featuring alongside Erling Haaland in Norway's three-man attack.

Bobb impresses after coming off the bench
Bobb started the match among the substitutes and was introduced at half-time as a replacement for Sorloth after the Atletico Madrid striker did not return for the second half. The change allowed the Fulham winger to make an immediate impact.

The attacker delivered an impressive display on the right wing and caused Brazil all kinds of problems throughout the second half. His direct running and attacking intent helped Norway maintain their threat as they secured an important victory.

Bobb's performance also caught the attention of Spain goalkeeping icon Iker Casillas, who praised the Norwegian during the match.

Iker Casillas praises Norway winger
As Bobb caused Brazil all kinds of trouble, Casillas posted on X:

"That Oscar Bobb is really good..." adding the Norwegian flag.

The praise highlighted the quality of Bobb's performance, with the winger making a strong impression despite not starting the match. His display demonstrated his ability to influence games when given the opportunity.

Despite his fine performance against Brazil, Bobb is expected to return to the bench for the match against England. Even so, he could still have an important role to play as a substitute if Norway require fresh attacking options later in the game.
