Frei returns?

Pretty sure I heard something that some of younger players were staying behind to do extra training and that was Briggs and Frei who live together as well. The Cardiff thing I guess was to get him match fit but kind of backfired as he isn't playing. The present situation does provide Frei an opportunity to get back into the first team though.

It has been said many times on this board that we the general public do not see what goes on during training, it may be that Frei just does not put in the effort to warrant a 1st team slot, Ballotelli (spelling) was dropped last week for that very reason, the manager whoever that may be has to pick a team based on what he feels is the best option, maybe he is just not up to scratch at this moment in time.

Frei was coming back from an injury, Kacaniklic was playing well and I think Jol was intending to use Richardson as a more defensive minded left midfield especially for away games so I suspect a short loan to Cardiff seemed a good way to get Frei match fit.

Why invent some possible training ground problem to explain the loan?

Why answer in such a nasty way, i was just offering up a possible reason like you have just done about the loan, i did not invent it, having worked at FFC for about 8 years i do have some knowledge of what goes on.

Back to the topic. Hope he does return, it would make logical sense considering the LW problem we now have. My only worry is that has he learnt to actually take people on and go for the byline? Too many times last season, when he played, did he cut inside and run into traffic (Odense a prime example) when he could have just gone round the outside of the fullback and knocked a ball into the box. IMO that would really put him onto another level in terms of ability.

It could be but you don't know until you've seen it. Also Duff's on his weaker side when playing on the right but he still heads for the byline and it adds another dimension to his attacking threat. Just think it would be better if Kerim tried it more.

As an impact sub he is brilliant and terrorised Chelsea and Arsenal last season and is now a year better.  Bring him on in the 60th minute against Stoke and he will drive them mad and release space for our front men.

Don't know why we let him go in the first place. Him on one wing, Kaca on the left, balls in to Berba and Petric - job done.

Still, I think he'll leave at the end of the season..

I think Frei will develop into a good premiership player, but perhaps it's worth remembering that, whilst we were all excited by his first appearances, there were many on here who started to wonder whether he was a bit of a one trick pony at the moment. His single aim appeared to be to cut inside with the ball, and defenders seemed to have got him worked out. As with Kaka there were also question marks over whether he gave enough support defensively. 

Wasn't C Ronaldo deemed to be a bit of a one trick pony at first? ;P
