of the days when we often sang how we hated them.

It made me look up that fateful match in 1983 and brought all those memories back.  Absolutely outrageous!  It's made me hate them again.  Check it out here

Read Malcolm Mcdonald's autobiography - it contains FFC's submission to the FA which was scandalously rejected by the spineless suits in charge of the game - had every legal argument as to why the game should have been replayed as not completed - anyway hopefully we'll be playing them next year if they lose the final to QPR/Wigan

I actually wrote to Graham Kelly outlining all the precedents that showed clearly that the match should have been replayed.

On the plus side he had the good grace to respond.

On the minus side, his response was twaddle. The FA rejected the notion of a replay as the exact circumstances of that day could not be replicated. On the day, it was possible that Derby could have been relegated. The way the results went were such that they would have been safe. Therefore, if the match was replayed, Derby no longer had anything to play for whereas we did.

Horrible day. Quite a bit of trouble outside the ground after too. And the contents of the "football special" train ended up being jettisoned as we went through Leicester...

I wrote to Graham Kelly several times and he eventually asked me to meet him for a coffee at Paddington Station! It was a waste of time but at least he tried. He claimed that the club gave up very quickly with their official pleas for the match to be repaid and that our supporters fought for far longer. In  truth, the match should have abandoned as soon as the crowd congregated round the touch line. Whatever people think about about current stadium rules there is no way that this appalling behaviour would be tolerated today.

Thanks.  I don't believe I've seen that 'video' before.

Always been somewhat indifferent to the QPR hatred....however some of the Derby County patrons who behaved so impeccably at the Baseball Ground on that fateful day in 1983 would have witnessed that heartache yesterday...heh ho.

Yes I agree and feel that Derby got their comeuppance against QPR and there would have been plenty of the 1983 fans at Wembley to witness a similar travesty of Justice. I also have nothing against QPR and in fact wish them good luck for next season. God knows they will need it. Derby I hope will get a good spanking from us as we relegate them while going the other way
