Rangers FC were here in little old Sacramento last night playing our new team Republic FC in a friendly.

Brand new team in a brand new stadium playing at a level just below the MLS. Football continues to grow.

In other "random games against lower-division American teams" news, Swansea lost 2-0 to Minnesota United FC ("The Loons") of the NASL (2nd division).

If the USA were to adopt football above games that only they play they really would be a world force to be reckoned with. They didn't do too bad at the WC as it was.

The area of interest where football seems to expanding in terms of support and growth in the US is teams in divisions other than MLS. Across the country there are more and more teams like FC Republic, Indy Eleven and San Antonio where people get to support a local club and many of the clubs are receiving terrific support during their initial years of operation.

If the US took "soccer" by the scruff of the neck they could become very good at it. They dominate in pretty much all sports and the only reason they aren't all that at football is because the majority of yanks don't take it seriously. The NBA and NFL, etc dominate the minds of the whole nation. Even though football is the best sport in the world. At the end of the day we are all people so why should a European person enjoy football more than an american? It must be upbringing. Or surroundings.

No apologies for lots of superlatives

I recently saw the American Rugby team play the NZ Maori's
American were tremendous and the passion and sell out crowd was phenomenal.
Now there really is a game which if marketed properly could out grow the NFL, obviously in many years to come

The US captain would grace any team in the world he was fantastic and what a leader.

They only lost in the last few minutes against a colossal Maori team, as you can imagine.

The crowd were captivated by the HAKA as most of them had never seen it before.

I thought he meant Mancurians, but then if they actually lived in Manchester and supported City or Utd I presume wouldn't be glory hunters.
