Reading the message from Magath on the website today he talks about a quote he got of £12 million keeper from a championship club. Who do u think it is? I presume it is Alex McCarthy or possibly Marshall or Ruddy. I don't think anyone else would even think about valuing their keepers at that price even though I think those 3 keepers still aren't worth £12 million, max 8 for McCarthy. Thoughts?

Its our own fault we were quoted 12m , we inflated the market to a ridiculous point. Ross is worth nowhere near the 10m mark, its just afigure we were prepared to pay. Other clubs have seen this, and surely thought, well if they ave money to burn then lets fleece them.

On the same theme, why bother getting rid of 2 goalkeepers,  one who seemed happy at ffc and we sell him permanently, and one who just doesnt want to be at FFC and we loan him out temporarily.

We then buy an oldie to help the young GKs progression, but Im guessing that little sly comment will mean that Gabor is first choice after Saturday, and we go and look at 12m rated goalkeepers. Should have stuck with Stockdale despite his imperfections.

Because the one we sold permanently isn't very good and the one who we loaned out is possibly world-class if can just stop getting hurt.

But the Club didn't simply offer Leeds 10M: initially, we bid 5M. However realistic that bid may have been, we couldn't force Leeds into selling; we either had to meet their price or walk away.

If we have now been quoted 12M for a goalkeeper, it is clear that whichever Club it was were not interested in selling that player. We would do exactly the same with, say, Pat Roberts. He has achieved nothing at first-team level yet and therefore doesn't merit a fee of 15M plus, but that is the sort of figure the Club would no doubt put on him. And why? Because we want to keep him.

He was for some of the time.  Look, why is it that the team that wanted Stockdale plays in the Championship and the team that wanted Stekelenburg plays in the Champions League?  It's pretty obviously because, all else (health, form) being equal, Stekelenburg is a vastly better player than Stockdale.

Pretty sure QPR have agreed a fee with Reading for McCarthy and according to Sky Sources it's sub £5million, potentially rising to £6million. So my guess would be Marshall. I don't really understand this statement though. Is Felix suggesting that because he was quoted £12 million for his first choice goalkeeper, rather than look for a second, cheaper option he just gave up completely and decided to sign a 38 year old hasbeen?

love4ffc

That is Felix.  He want's his training to be hard and unbearable while he transfer targets are easy, cheap and make no sense.    :012:
Anyone can blend into the crowd.  How will you standout when it counts?

westcliff white

agree legate, makes no sense. there is a lad called Bentley at Southend would have been available for around 2 million maximum, 21 clean sheets last season i think it was. Just one example could have picked up a keeper for around 3-5 million easily if we had really waned too.

REading Felix's latest PR statement it seems Kiraly isn't to be first choice
Every day is a Fulham day

Got to be Marshall or McCarthy

Or as previously mentioned, Stockdale, when we tried to buy him back

It's, IMO, nonsense to have sold Stoxkdale for a nominal sum if we had been quoted stupid money for an upgrade replacement & then spend money on a downgrade replacement in Kiraly.

I want to believe that Bettinelli will get a chance but one mistake & we will have pyjama bottoms in goal in the blink of an eye

He is fat ,he is round, he is worth a million pound.
Wow we really undervalued Jim Stanard, didn't we.
