How crap is Kelly?

the short answer to the question is "very".

Bairds excuse was alway that he was played out of position,which was true so we had to wait the best part of a season to see what the lad could do playing in his proper position.
Kelly does not have this excuse,he plays like he thinks he is'nt good enough-he if thinks that why should'nt we????
He could be ok in the Championship but the game has moved on at Fulham.He is out of his depth playing premership football and I don't know one person who goes"" OOOO Good Kelly's playing today" :-\

What I find strange about Kelly is how slight and un-prepossessing he is when you see him up close.

Both Konch and JP are very strong, physical characters and they play the game in a very hard, robust way.

Kelly looks like he not only would prefer not to mix it but probably never has. This leaves him looking peripheral and un-committed and just plain un-suited to the business of defending - which is mans work if ever there was any.

If he was a nippy wing ala Aaron Lennon or Sean Wright-Phillips then he his physical demeanour would make more sense to me. He comes from the same place as Frank Stapleton and Ronnie Whelan but seems to lack the grit that was so prominent in their character.

He has had good games for us and good phases of games and can pass well enough and put in a good cross. Roy has obviously seen something he likes in him and he is a far better judge than me but the lads confidence seems to be on the wane and that can rub off on others at the back.

We have heard from Roy that he had tried to buy a right back. But Kelly isn't as bad as some are saying. Yes he can't tackle. Yes he can't pass. Yes he can't cross a ball. Yes his positional sense is awful. Actually come to think of it he isn't very good is he. But when he started for us he looked ok.
