Raumdeuter, the missing piece for Parkerball?

It was really interesting watching Muller in the recent games playing (and having invented) the Raumdeuter role (translated as room or space investigator). I had seen the expression in FM and heard every now wand then, but watching Bayern play (yes i know it is Bayern) and seeing how Muller subtle moves into spaces creating room for others was really fascinating. To be fair he never stops and is a quality player, but if you just looked at stats he would be fairly average. I guess Ferminho performs a similar role. Te reckon Omonah and BCR could play a similar role, but it may be too much of a luxury given the opposition and team ability. But when thing that frustrates me with Parker Ball is that it is pretty static at times. Could a Fulham Raumdeuter improve Parkerball? Looking at teams that play a quasi raumdeuter, they generally have very good full backs.

Well, is it really missing? Here's one definition of Ramsdeuter, which I think could be describing much of Abou:

"Essentially a wide poacher, the Raumdeuter takes up seemingly harmless positions out wide, waiting for the opportune moment to burst through the defensive line for that telling shot or cross"  They play little role in the team's build-up, and are a main end-product provider for their teams.

Bobby Reid could play a Raumdeuter role, Jesse Lingard is probably the best we can afford but he'll come at a huge cost. Frankly, i don't think we need one as our attack should repeat last seasons tactics, a combination of Mitro scoring and other shooters.

A player who interprets space and trys to exploit it? This is absolutely mind-blowing stuff!

Huxley

The key element of Mullers game is is knowing where the space is without the defender realising he's in trouble. It also requires Muller to recognise that his team mate can see the space and will play the ball into that space but he someone needs to move the defender away from that space. With Parkerball we don't appear to make runs into dangerous spaces or at least not very often, and if we do it's pretty obvious. Muller is a super intelligent footballer. With Parkerball can we afford the luxury of a player that drifts in and out. Do we already play this way and I don't see it?

Playing with a Muller-esque role, it may create more space for mitro and give home more time to compose his shot and get it on target. I feel the current Parker ball is too predictable and something needs to be added.

Reid can play the role but his finishing is just too poor to be a starter. Onomah could potentially play the role.

Ultimately no one is going to match Muller, he's unique in that respect.

I think we potentially had one of the most useful British Raumdeuters in Ryan Sessegnon.

An intelligent player who almost plays better in the spaces off then ball than on it and has a habit of creeping into the box to pop up with crucial contributions.

A short clip highlighting the areas that Muller moves into and the arc of his runs to create assists for Lewandowski... could see BCR or onomah do the same for Mitro.

BD Reid was my first thought, but not in view of last season's form. Joe Bryan might well do if used in a Ryan Sessegnon left mid/attacking way.  But AK certainly has the capability.

I enjoyed watching that but I'm not sure it did much to describe the role very well.

I preferred this video as an accurate description:

To me he was more of a wide poacher than ramdeuter, his movement was more about getting in the box than creating space for others.

Certainly we've not had anyone with as good off the ball movement as him since.

I do think the team would be strengthened by signing Muller...

What? I thought we all agreed that we shouldn't sign world class players? First Pique and now this, TK keeps repeating the same mistakes over and over again.  :005:
