Chris Wood, Ben Brereton, Dominic Solanke, Mitro and Burnley

Speculative stuff on my part, but a few PL clubs could get unexpected windfalls from Newcastle this month.

Suddenly Burnley are without a 30 year old basher of a striker, but with £25m (and more) in the pocket and relegation risk increasing. Given their style, they need a big man.

I suspect Solanke and Brereton would be ahead of Mitro in any list for Burnley (not because they're better, but because their PL track record isn't really known), but a random event (Wood > Newcastle) could set off a chain of expectation/speculation.

Not rating this as a very high chance, but does highlight how a team like us needs to be constantly aware of the options over the next two weeks.

You seem to forget that the Khans are not skint. They have no need to sell. They are in a promotion spot and looking to go up so there is no need to sell anyone at this stage

Why would we sell the highest scoring striker in Europe - irrespective of league - to anyone, regardless of how much money they offer. As has been said, our owners are not skint, or even close to being skint. They don't need to sell. Plus, he's happy. Worst that'll happen, is he'll get a new contract out of them.

Burnley are also just up the road from Blackburn so would presumably be a convenient move for Brereton.

Yes, I'm sure the club is aware of the situation, and  will do everything to keep hold of our iconic big man.

And Mitro himself is happy in London it's reported, and would he want to transfer his family up Burnley, despite its beautiful rural setting, and easy access to Manchester and Leeds  -
I know what some on here might say about living up there! -

and  sports centre used by Palace when they played up there - as reported by Burnley fan and 5 Live presenter, Tony Livesey - he uses the place himself for his daily swim, and was miffed when his  reserved swim lane was  taken!

Yeah, despite the rivalry between Burnley and Blackburn, I'd have thought the Brereton move the most likely of those.

Suppose I'm just working out how to worry about something with a 3% chance of happening.

And on that subject, would Newcastle be improved by any of our players?

Tete at fullback? Tosin at CH?

MartyFFC

lol, yeah Mitrovic is absolutely going to up sticks and move his family to Burnley 😂

We Are Premier League

Also, according to the bookies, Bournemouth (and Fulham) are more likely then Burnley to be in the Premier League next year. Would be a very strange move for Solanke and/or Mitro at this stage.

On the same topic, we are as likely as Brentford and Everton to be in the Premier League next year...almost a done deal according to the bookies!

Sean Dyche is reportedly preferring more pacy strikers at this time, so Mitro for all his undoubted attributes would be unlikely to put Mitro on his shortlist unless we were prepared to release an in form, settled and striker for silly money.
Personally I would have thought only Robinson or Tosin of our likely starters are likely to attract a speculative bid - particularly if we continue to stay in the top 4 of the Championship

The OP was just indulging in a bit of wild speculation, he said as much. The point he was illustrating is that sometimes a single transfer event can set off a chain of unanticipated consequences and I think that is fair comment.

Mince n Tatties

Mitro going nowhere...Patting the badge to the away fans after his second goal....Loves it here.

More to the point.....good, maybe Brereton and Solanke will be snapped up......might make our push to the PL a bit easier...  :005:

Lordedmundo

I would be very surprised if no clubs went in for Brereton and Blackburn are likely to sell if they are offered enough. Good news for us and Bournemouth if that happens...

There is little chance Bournemouth will sell Solanke unless he throws his toys out of the pram.

There is very little chance Mitro will be sold and no chance whatsoever he will go to Burnley!

Someone once asked me, "Why Fulham?".
My response, "Well, lad, you just haven't seen the light yet"

We should be trying to get Jesse Lingard in....but, his salary is probably more than I get on a Saturday night

Wood sold to Newcastle for 25 million LOL

His goalscoring record in the PL has been okay to be fair to him.

But if he's worth £25m at the age of 30 then Mitrovic should be worth at least £40m and under the right circumstances probably nearer the £50m mark

Bassey the warrior

Mitro won't leave and I think Brereton and Solanke would only go there if they can't go to a team that play better football. Apparently Brighton and Leeds were looking at Brereton, much more exciting style of play. I expect that they'll look abroad, after the success they had with Cornet.

MartyFFC

Poor Mitro's had a bad couple of weeks; he's gone from replacing Ronaldo at Juventus, to replacing Chris Wood at Burnley. Harsh times
