Wasn't he another one Parker let go of. Probably saw his future as a goalkeeper or something.

In the under 21's he always had an eye for goal. With a good shot. Was surprised he left so early. But there may have been injury or other problems with him 092.gif

He had a terrible collision with the opposition goalkeeper when he was with Southend and broke 15 bones in his face.  A brilliant goal, glad to see he is fully recovered.

Humphrys was a promising striker with us. Well liked, quite rightly, wherever he has been he has established himself as a decent striker at, or around, League One level and has been unlucky with injuries.
Whoever let him go did so because it was felt that he would not make the grade at our level...And in that they were totally correct. A superb goal against Dundee United is not going to change that.

Absolutely brilliantly taken goal. Had high hopes for him breaking through but never given a chance. Perhaps he wouldn't have made it but it is funny because some players are written off because one manager doesn't fancy them and doesn't play them and another comes in and the outcast makes a real go of it. Kebano and Mitro are prime examples.

One of the frustrating things about watching age group football - particularly u 18s - is that you have some players with huge amounts of talent but not the real hunger and others with the real hunger but not quite the talent. Humphreys was one who gave his absolute all when playing - he was aways very physical and  used that physicality to his best advantage - he was the type that would bust a gut to get to the ball first, straining every sinew.  But for all of that, I never thought he quite had the quality to make it at our level whilst hoping he had enough about him to earn a decent living out of the game.

That is not a criticism of him - just a reflection on how high the standards are in the EPL these days. Our academy has produced a number of players of Championship quality but in reality the only u 18s alumni that would get into our current matchday squad would be Fab, Elliott and Dembele. I'm not sure that Sess would - his point of difference was his ability to be in the right place at the right time to score his tap ins - if he is not doing that - his on the ball skills are not at our current levels.

You could make an argument for Matt O'Reilly - but how would he cope with the hard press often found in the EPL and is he athletic enough to do the off the  ball work demanded by Marco?  I'd like to think so - but am not sure. I think Pajaziti is similar - for me the best technical player in the age groups - but for him to make it with us - he will probably need to work on his off the ball play. For better or for worse, the game has changed and it seems midfield players these days have to be both footballers and athletes.

I was there at the Cork City match and spotted a raw Sess out at left back. I thought Humphrys was better than Cauley Woodrow at that stage - a much better all round striker. Good to see that goal

Shows how few make it, all having been given at least some shot at the 1st team.

The 2013 to 2016 groups formed the basis of nationally successful Fulham junior sides and are all around 27 years old, but only 2 of them can be said to have established themselves at the top level, and neither of these have gained full caps. (One might add Marek Rodak who is included in an later group and has plenty of Slovakian caps).

Who on earth would have predicted Dan Burn as the most successful? I definitely wouldn't and still watch him and can't quite believe what I'm seeing.
I have played with (guess) over 100 players who I'd deem a better footballer than him, but there he is, playing for one of the world's richest clubs and doing very well. Astounding.
