The report says that "he was entertained at a Queens Park Rangers match in August 2021"...

I find that very hard to believe ....   :slap:  :slap:

That's hardly a perk, in fact, I almost feel sorry for him.

Embedded in this story is a little detail that neatly captures the difference between politicians and normal people.

Ever been to a corporate box for a game? I have very very occasionally. What happens is someone reaches out and says "would you like to come?".  "Yes please. Thank you" seals it.

But it turns out there another world out there where one simply announces that you would like to be invited and an invitation is forthcoming.  The owner of the box, for whatever reason, decides they don't fancy the company and hey presto the whole box is yours.

I am usually critical of politicians but I think a free seat at Loftus road is nothing to worry about other than perhaps it casts doubt over Gove's sporting judgement.

I was amazed to see that this thread was here but then saw what the OP had to say.

Fair play FTN.

Gove deserves eternity in that particular pit of hell.

So you think they should let him off... After all... watching that lot, he's probably suffered enough!

We have a system in place that takes us by the hand and abuses us until it hurts. Then we are tapped on the head like all obedient victims and told 'The choice is yours. You have the freedom to pick your abuser'.

Yet none of us ever fight back and say no more. We just giggle about it. Now close the thread before some **** talks about democracy being fair.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Odd comment - are there some politicians who do not deserve this? I.e., do not deserve to be investigated when they're reasonably suspected of breaching parliamentary standards?

Of course not, you misunderstand me. Perhaps I was too oblique.
