Fulham bid now ready after Leeds multi-million move to sign Rodrigo Muniz
Leeds United are looking to upgrade their attacker this summer, with Fulham's Rodrigo Muniz touted as a potential signing.

With Premier League survival the goal, Daniel Farke is aware that he will have to upgrade his attack this summer.

As a result, Leeds bid £32 million for Muniz, which was rejected by Fulham.

However, Farke may have now received a boost in his pursuit of the Brazilian attacker.

Fulham to bid for Romulo Cardoso
It was reported on Saturday that Fulham were looking to sign Romulo Cardoso from Goztepe in Turkey.

However, this saga has now developed over the past 24 hours, which could benefit Leeds.

According to the Sunday People, page 60 (29 June), Fulham are set to lodge a new bid for the striker.

The Cottagers' opening offer was rejected, and they are now preparing for a £17m bid plus add-ons, with RB Leipzig also in the race.

While this news could no doubt be a boost for Leeds United in their hunt to sign Muniz, the report goes on to state that Fulham still desire to keep the Brazilian despite Farke's interest.

Hard to see Fulham selling Muniz to Leeds
Unless a massive bid comes in for Muniz, it is hard to see Fulham sanctioning Muniz's sale to Leeds.

The Brazilian has proven his worth at Craven Cottage multiple times and has 26 goals at the London club in just under 100 appearances.

Last season, he hit double digits once again, as he continues to impress at Fulham.

Therefore, it is hard to see Marco Silva allowing Muniz to leave for a Premier League rival.

The striker could easily come back to haunt Fulham, especially as Leeds' main attacker at Elland Road this season.

As a result, Farke may have to move on to other targets if he is to sign a striker this summer.

Tottenham suffer blow in their approach for prolific Fulham star; player ready to stay put for next season
Tottenham are keen to land Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz in the summer

Tottenham have not yet managed to replace Harry Kane ever since the legendary striker departed N17 in 2023. The Lilywhites are still in the hunt to sign a lethal goal-scorer that performs week-week out and helps the North London club compete against top teams next season. With Thomas Frank now in charge at Hotspur Way, Daniel Levy must bring in a new striker as the Dane likes to play number nines up top.

Last summer's statement signing Dominic Solanke has endured a 'stop-start' first campaign at N17. The England international visibly struggled to get going during the initial months of last season and failed to replicate the form he showed at Bournemouth. But it is fair to say that the 27-year-old managed to make amends by playing a crucial role in the second half of the campaign as Spurs won the Europa League.

Tottenham might miss out on Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz in the summer.

However, the same cannot be said about Solanke's strike partner Richarlison. The Brazil international was side-lined for most parts of the season with a long-term injury, and he also fell down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou after his recovery. The 28-year-old has failed to make an impact at N17 and has never quite managed to become a consistent starter for the North London club.

Tottenham might fail to land Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz
There is a clear need to bring in a new striker that would keep Dominic Solanke on his toes next season and compete for a spot in the starting eleven. With Richarlison potentially heading for the exit doors, Daniel Levy must aim to bring in a quality replacement that would elevate the attacking ceiling at the club.

It was reported earlier that Spurs were interested in signing Rodrigo Muniz from Fulham in the summer. The Lilywhites are keen to add the Brazilian to their ranks, and are willing to test the waters for his signature. The aforementioned report also suggested that Muniz is also keen to test himself in a new environment and would not rule out a move to N17 as the North London club offers Champions League football.

However, Tottenham have now received a massive setback in their approach to sign the 24-year-old. As per Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas (via X), Fulham have no intentions of losing Rodrigo Muniz in the summer. Marco Silva views the prolific striker as a crucial part of the team and the Cottagers are willing to fend off any potential suitors in the summer.

West Brom will always rue free agent swoop for 51-cap international - He flopped even harder with Fulham
Over the years, West Brom supporters have seen their fair share of transfer flops.

Naturally, in football, there will be signings that inevitably don't work out, with fans left scratching their heads as to why the club's hierarchy recruited them in the first place.

This happened in the goalkeeping department, as Pascal Zuberbuhler proved to be far from a popular figure at The Hawthorns during his very short stay at the club.

Consistently booed and jeered for poor performances, the 51-cap Switzerland international would go down as one of Albion's worst-ever signings, while his fortunes didn't change years later when he returned to England with Fulham.

Pascal Zuberbuhler's dreadful spell at West Brom
Pascal Zuberbuhler arrived from Basel to The Hawthorns on a free transfer in 2006, and by the time he left a year later, Albion fans must have felt like the Black Country outfit should have been paid themselves for taking him off of their hands.

There was original optimism for the addition as the shot-stopper came to the Baggies off the back of an impressive World Cup campaign that had seen him keep four clean sheets in four games, as the Swiss went out on penalties to Ukraine in the round of 16.

Zuberbuhler began the season in between the sticks under Bryan Robson, starting the opening 15 games of their second tier campaign, but ultimately, he proved he wasn't anywhere near the level required to compete for a promotion-chasing side.

His performances were so poor that Baggies fans consistently booed and even jeered the goalkeeper whenever he managed to catch the ball, with it proving to be a toxic relationship that neither party really needed.

The now 54-year-old found himself pushed out of the team by Robson's replacement, Tony Mowbray, due to the perception that he was unpopular with the fans, before being made available for loan heading into the winter window of 2006.

He would eventually depart B71 in February 2007, signing for Neuchatel Xamax in his native Switzerland on a free transfer, while Dean Kiely arrived to the Black Country and was a much safer pair of hands.

West Brom had been blessed with some wonderful goalkeepers over the last two decades, so when Zuberbuhler failed to make the grade, it was unsurprising to see Albion supporters vent such hostile frustration towards their number one.

The Swiss shot-stopper was coming into a side that had previously been graced with the dependable figures of Russell Hoult, Chris Kirkland and Tomasz Kuszczak, so it was always going to be an uphill battle to be successful if he didn't make an immediate impact.

In that bad of a spell, Birmingham Live voted Zuberbuhler as the worst goalkeeper Albion have had over the last 20 years.

Pascal Zuberbuhler extended his torrid English spell at Fulham
Zuberbuhler would go on to make 51 league appearances for Neuchatel Xamax, where he won promotion with them back to the Swiss top-flight, before returning to England and linking up with Fulham and Roy Hodgson in the summer of 2008. Hodgson knew the keeper from his time as Switzerland manager and signed a one-year deal after impressing on a trial in West London.

However, he wouldn't ever be a regular presence in goal for the Cottagers, making his first and only appearance for the club in a League Cup match during his opening term.

His professionalism would earn him another year's extension as he remained number two to Mark Schwarzer during the 2009/10 season, before agreeing a further 12-month stay the following season. However, in that campaign, he didn't even make the 25-man Premier League squad.

Making just a solitary appearance, Zuberbuhler retired from playing at the end of that term, bringing the curtain down on a truly awful time in England.

Zuberbuhler will certainly go down as one of Albion's worst-ever signings in their history, but they will take some comfort knowing Fulham had to realise that he wasn't good enough to make a name for himself at their club either.

Mexico reach Gold Cup semi-finals
Fulham forward Raul Jimenez played 75 minutes as Mexico moved into the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup with a 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia in Glendale, Arizona, earlier this morning.

The defending champions eventually broke down an obdurate Saudi Arabian defence four minutes into the second half and Jimenez, who has been in fine form for his country of late, create the crucial opening. The striker's clever pass put Vega in the clear and, although goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi saved the Toluca striker's first effort, he followed up to put El Tri ahead from twelve yards.

Tournament debutants Saudi Arabia, invited by CONCACAF a year ahead of the World Cup, were in the game until nine minutes from time when Matteo Chavez's cross from the left was turned past his own goalkeeper by the luckless Madu.

Mexico will play Honduras, who beat Panama on penalties earlier in the day, in Santa Clara on Wednesday.
