Absolute quality. Good shout for being our best player in these two friendlies. The kid is frigging 18. Honestly looks like he has the ability to play for England one day if he keeps developing over the next few years and then we have a £100m player on our hands. Obviously has a hell of a long way to go to get to that level but really does look like we have a ridiculously good talent on our hands from the small bits we've seen so far. Imagine where he could be at 20 after two prem years?! Let's hope he keeps showing this ability and keeps improving as he continues to develop.

Love the sentiment but let's not build the lad up too much, many a young player has been chewed up and spat out by football. I do agree though he's immense

Agree here

His ceiling is huge and I hope he gets meaningful minutes this year

But, he is still very slight and probably needs more muscle on him to compete at this level week in week out against grown men. His quality and football IQ is there to see but I can only imagine how scary he could* get once he grows physically.

Big talent hope we can nurture him effectively

Yeah agreed. Why I said obviously a hell of a long way to go to get to that level but I'm absolutely loving what I see in terms of raw talent for someone so young.  ::thumb::

We must be careful not to place too much expectation on the lad, he is going to have games that won't be good, so hopefully supporters don't get on his back, he has to have encouragement not put downs.
Of course none of this may happen.

Doubtless supporters will get on his back a bit, happens almost all the time.

Agree with you that we need to manage expectations. He looks brilliant, but there's a lot of hype around him for someone who has just broken through and is yet to make a really major breakthrough.

Think we have some of the most forgiving supporters when it comes to our youth players. When Sess was largely anonymous during our PL season there wasn't much criticism of him. When Fabio Carvalho had lulls he was still praised. Last one I can recall getting an undeserved amount of stick is Dan Burn.

Granted, we don't have many players that make it into the first team so there aren't many to compare to.

We must continue like this. Getting on his back will just be so detrimental to his development so young so got to continue to support him even when he has a spell of poor form

Regarding Sess, which season are you referring to?  If it's 2018-19 he was just 18 and still managed 8 goal contributions. Hardly anonymous.

Carvalho always worked hard and contributed regardless of whether he got goals or assists.

I don't understand why you've got this grievance towards our youngsters.

You may want to read what I wrote again if you see it as me having a grievance.

The point is that even when they weren't performing at their peak during the time they were playing nobody was getting on their case. I don't think there is much risk that King is going to get booed off the pitch and scapegoated if he has a bad couple of games. This is a good thing.
