Fulham are frontrunners for Chukwueze
Fulham have rekindled their interest in AC MIlan winger Samuel Chukwueze and Craven Cottage looks the most likely destination for the Nigerian international, according to reports from Italy.

The Whites came close to completing a deal for the 26 year-old wide man in January having agreed a fee with Milan, but the transfer failed to beat the clock on deadline day. Chukwueze, who has been deemed surplus to requirements by Massimiliano Allegri, has struggled in two seasons at the San Siro – making 71 appearances, scoring eight goals and adding six assists.

The former Villarreal winger is interested in plying his trade in the Premier League and Fulham have edged ahead of Beskitas and Fenerbahce, according to Calciomerceto. The Rossoneri are looking to recoup as much of the £17m they paid the Yellow Submarine, but the Cottagers would prefer a loan with an option to buy as they assess the options for Marco Silva to strengthen his squad.

The pacey winger was a huge hit in Spain, helping Villarreal win the Europa League in 2021, and scored 37 goals in 207 appearances. Chukwueze, who has scored seven goals in 45 senior internationals for the Super Eagles, is considered an alternative to Reiss Nelson. The Arsenal wide man spent last season on loan at Craven Cottage and the clubs are said to be close to concluding a deal for the 25 year-old to build on his twelve games and two goals before an untimely hamstring injury ended his season in December.

Same Quotes, Same Problems: Fulham Don't Learn
Marco Silva's "We have to act faster" transfer fury quote post-Fulham's Villarreal friendly in 2022 rings just as true four summers on. They could almost be mistaken for quotes across all four windows in Silva's Fulham PL tenure. Over the past four transfer windows, the latest average date of signing by all Premier League clubs goes to – you guessed it – Fulham (46 days).

Compare Marco's post-Villarreal comments with Silva's recent statements regarding London's Original transfer inactivity, and the resemblance is striking: "Unfortunately, we don't have players to adapt for our group. This is the moment of the season you should use for it, when you are all together in a camp. We usually use this time for new signings to adapt." These quotes echo the same sentiments four years apart. If that doesn't show you what the club are doing in the market, what will?

He values the fact that holding on till late in a window gets you better value as the unequivocally correct answer to how Fulham should do business late, instead of allowing a squad to gel in pre-season – something that we know Marco values.

Late Moves, Lost Trust: Silva's Inspiration to Move On
Whilst you certainly can do some business like that – deals like the possible Raheem Sterling SW6 swap just have to happen late in the window – that's the nature of the transfer window. This window has been the final nail in the coffin. Marco's trust has been misplaced. He's forced to miss out on a pre-season with signings that could turn this Fulham team from a good one into a great one. Without a full pre-season, incomings will integrate late and make impacts later in the season – passing by weeks that could be crucial come May.
Will Fulham be okay? Yes. Will Silva and the club get to respectable finishes despite this tragic summer? Yes. But will Silva be able to make use of all the resources at his disposal? No. That's down to the club. In years to come, when we eventually succumb to the drop, will we look back on the years as what could have been? What could have been if we backed our manager? What could have been if we had a footballing expert Director of Football? I think so.

Obrigado, Marco?
If we just listened to Silva, it could be so different. We could be confident he will lead us for another five years. These decisions matter to top managers like Marco. He wants full backing, not a last-minute attempt at backing, leaving him weeks behind some other Premier League clubs. In a season where many mid-table sides are picked apart, we could have capitalised – built a squad early and be sharp and ready come Brighton away. Instead, Fulham scramble once again. A failure to learn from our mistakes will see Fulham pay the price next summer.

Loan Round-Up: Debuts for De Foug & Dibley-Dias
Luc De Fougerolles and Matt Dibley-Dias both made their debuts for their respective loan clubs at the weekend.

Luc was straight into the starting XI for F.C.V. Dender's 1-1 draw at Standard Liège. The Canada international joined the Belgian Pro League side on a season-long loan last week after penning a long-term contract at Fulham earlier in the summer.

The 19-year-old played 76 minutes as Dender continued their unbeaten start to the season, having drawn against Cercle Brugge the previous weekend.

Matt's new side, Chesterfield, got off to a winning start on the opening day of the League Two season, beating Barrow 1-0 at the SMH Group Stadium.

The midfielder missed a portion of pre-season with an ankle injury but returned for the Spireites' opening day victory. Dilan Markanday gave Chesterfield the lead on the stroke of half-time with a diving header – with Matt introduced to the action in the 88th minute to help see out the win.

Our out-on-loan duo are in action again this weekend, with Luc facing Sint-Truidense V.V. on Friday evening, and Matt travelling to Cheltenham Town on Saturday afternoon.

USMNT's Antonee Robinson should play Champions League football, but the realities of transfer market might keep him at Fulham
Robinson is arguably the best fullback in the Premier League, yet will likely miss out on a big move due to his age profile

Two years ago, Pep Guardiola wanted to sign Tim Ream. Or at least, that's what we were told. Man City had just beaten Fulham, 2-1, and Guardiola was doing his whole post-game flattery thing, the standard ritual of convincingly winning and then talking about just how good the other team is. It's a mastery in fake flattery.

Ream was his target. Guardiola approached him in the tunnel after the game, and told the USMNT center back that "if you were 24 instead of 34, you'd be playing for me." There are, of course, two things wrong with that statement. The first is that Ream was 35 at the time. The second is that Guardiola already had both Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias at center back. Ream, with all due respect, was not getting into that team.

But he did inadvertently make quite a good point. Ream was a very good central defender - he still is. But at his age, even with a generous helping from the fountain of youth, no top tier Premier League club would sniff him.

The same can now be said of the significantly younger but perhaps equally stuck Antonee Robinson. Everything about the U.S. international left back - his style of play, his quality on the ball, his defensive numbers - suggests that he should be playing Champions League football.

But he is also (almost) 28-years-old. It leaves him somewhat trapped at Fulham, with a lateral move the only one possible. Robinson is, in all honesty, too good for the Cottagers. But the harsh reality is no one better than them will take him.

The perfect modern left back
None of this is any fault of Robinson's, of course. "Jedi" has enjoyed a very good football career that should yet get better. He was raised a Liverpool fan in the Everton academy, bounced around on loan for a few years before being sold to Wigan for $2.5 million at 21.

It was sound business for the Latics, who no doubt got a cut-price fee for the left back after he spent the latter half of the 2018-19 season on loan at the Northern England club.

From there, things took off. Milan showed interest in January 2020. Everything seemed set, until he failed his medical due to an irregular heartbeat picked up on the medical. The move collapsed, and Robinson was sent back to Wigan. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic turned out to be a bizarre kind of blessing.

He was unable to find space at a hospital for an investigative medical procedure. With no football to play, he simply stopped drinking caffeine shots before games. The issue went away.

Fulham welcomed him with open arms, and he has since become one of the better fullbacks in the Premier League - if not the world. He his helped by the fact that fullbacks are cool again. For a few years, everyone was trying to copy Guardiola, who played centerbacks out wide and asked them to tuck in.

The traditional, hard-running, defensively astute outside back was gone. But it's a position coming back into fashion. Robinson has gone from throwback to en vogue within the short space of 12 months.

Age and the transfer market
And this is where the big money move should come. The market, right now, is crying out for athletic, quick and multi-talented fullbacks. Left-backs, in particular, come at a premium.

Robinson's game checks every single box. Want someone who can go forward? How about the fact that he tallied 10 assists last season - without taking a single set piece? Want a good defensive fullback, who can shut down the best wingers in the world? Robinson's tackle, interception, clearance and aerial duels numbers are all among the most impressive in Europe.

Need a proper leader in your dressing room to shepherd a back line? Robinson has been entrusted with the captain's armband for Fulham on a handful of occasions. This guy is made to play Champions League football. He should be a $50 million player - if not more.

The issue is, Robinson is slightly too old. Increasingly, Premier League teams - especially at the highest of levels - want to sign young talent and develop them. Arsenal, who have been more than willing to splash the cash of late, seldom bring in players over the age of 25.

Man City, serial winners and biggest spenders of them all, have gone big on a player over 25 just once in the last four years - and that was the remarkably durable Tijjani Reijnders. Liverpool, too, have opened their checkbook this summer, but the oldest of their five incoming players is 24. Alexander Isak, should they complete that move, turns 26 in September.

The key issue here is one of resale value. The best teams want two world class-players at every position. But if they manage their squads right, both should be able to be moved on towards the end of their deal for a decent profit. Robinson, soon to turn 28, is in his prime now, but will ultimately be viewed as a depreciating asset.

If Robinson today is worth $50M, Robinson next summer will only cost $40M. There is, in effect, zero incentive for a team to spend big unless they have a glaring need.

An ideal fit at Liverpool
Liverpool did. At the start of the year, it seemed almost inevitable that Robinson would be playing for Arne Slot's Reds in the 2025-26 season. The pieces were clear for all to see. Andy Robertson, Liverpool's first choice left back since early 2018, is past his best and increasingly injury prone.

There was no apparent deputy in place. Robinson is a similar style of player, Liverpool had held long-standing interest, and Robinson spent a good amount of his youth career in the area. The tactical fit was too perfect. Slot set up his team last season with advanced fullbacks, and asked Robertson to bomb forward, making the kind of overlapping and underlapping runs that Robinson executes so well.

Robertson was once elite. Robinson was next up. The player, for his part, seemed to hint that a move was possible.

"I'm very happy here. The fact that there's interest from other teams is great. Obviously, it all comes down to whether someone wants me enough to pay what Fulham would ask.  So, if the club sees it as a good idea, I'd leave," he said in January.

But then things went another way. Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez was not expected to be available in the summer of 2025. The Cherries valued him too highly, and he perhaps needed another year of development before he was ready for a clear step up. And at 21, he lacked Robinson's experience.

Kerkez was - and is - an asset to be developed. But Bournemouth were willing to sell, and Liverpool bit. Robertson is a decade older than Kerkez, but Liverpool saw a clearer succession plan. They spent $50M on Kerkez, spoiling the narrative before it could really begin.

Why have you said goodbye to the Galactico look? - Brad
Galactico look? I didn't hear that one before! It's a good question. I liked the look but it was also a lot of work to maintain it in the morning. You need to wash it, you need to shower so it doesn't look too messy. I went a little bit shorter and now I've gone really, really short. I've actually never tried it before. I quite like it, it's nice and it's not a lot of work so nice and easy.

Does the new trim make you faster? - Brice
Let's see - I hope so! I don't think it's the hair that does it but maybe it gives me one per cent!

Who's your favourite player past or present to have played in your position? - Barney
I've always been a big Sergio Ramos fan. He's always been my favourite player and a player I've always looked up to; I've tried to copy what he does and see what I can take from his game. He's definitely my idol, yeah.

What feelings did you have when you made the decision to return to Fulham? - Fulham FC Córdoba
In my first season, I really, really loved it. I had a really, really good season and there were many, many good people at the Club. But as well, I really enjoyed my time at Crystal Palace so it wasn't in my head that I had to make a move that summer. But things happened and sometimes things happen unexpectedly and I'm really, really happy that I'm back. The guys are unbelieveable and I know the people here at the Club so it was not the most difficult transition period. I'm really, really happy to be back.

What is your most treasured football memorabilia that you have? - Putney Perspective
I think my favourite shirt I swapped is maybe with Luka Modrić when we (Denmark) played Croatia, because I think that Croatia shirt is so beautiful. It's one of the best shirts, I think, in the world and I like it so much.

Who is the best player to have on your team in training? - Leo
When we play small-sided games, sometimes some players get to choose the teams. I've been lucky enough to choose the team two or three times and I picked either Sander (Berge) or TC (Tom Cairney) quite quickly, so I would say one of those two because they're really clever players and they understand the game. That's a good base for a winning team.

Favourite Danish treat? - Kade
Denmark has many good Danish pastries! I like a cinnamon roll. Now in London, you have Ole & Steen and they have a good cinnamon roll, but in Denmark we have some top bakeries where they make them even better. I would say my guilty pleasure is a cinnamon roll or some kind of Danish pastry.

Which player from your first Fulham stint do you miss the most now? - Maurits
Luckily I play together with a few who I was quite close to in my first stint as well. I really liked Ola Aina. He was a really, really nice guy and a top player as well. He's doing fantastically at Nottingham Forest, so he's a player I would like to have in my team as well. Mitro (Aleksandar Mitrović) as well. I think Mitro was a really funny guy and you know what he's capable of, scoring goals, so that would also be nice to have in our team.

Chelsea transfer news: Fulham 'face competition' for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Premier League club
Chelsea have reportedly received interest in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from another Premier League club.

During his first season at Stamford Bridge, Dewsbury-Hall made 19 starts and 17 substitute appearances in all competitions, helping the Blues win the Conference League and Club World Cup.

However, just two starts were made in the Premier League, a further 11 outings coming from the bench, and similar or less is expected during 2025-26.

With Dario Essugo and Andrey Santos adding to the central-midfield options and Chelsea acquiring more players for the number 10 role, it could essentially leave the Englishman out in the cold.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a new Premier League team have entered the race for the 26-year-old.

Fulham receive Dewsbury-Hall competition
Fulham have already been credited with an interest in Dewsbury-Hall and are seemingly prepared to negotiate a permanent or loan deal with their West London neighbours.

Nevertheless, Romano suggests that Everton have become a serious contender to sign Dewsbury-Hall with negotiations now underway.

The Toffees are said to have made an official bid to sign Dewsbury-Hall on a permanent basis and Chelsea are open to the sale.

Having signed him for a fee in the region of £30m, the world champions are likely to be demanding a similar fee to facilitate his exit.

As it stands, it is unclear what stance Dewsbury-Hall is taking, but it is plausible that other interest could emerge in due course.

Would Dewsbury-Hall become first choice at Everton?
David Moyes has already publicly declared that he wants to sign at least another six players before the end of the summer transfer window.

He lined up with Tim Iroegbunam and Idrissa Gueye as his two central-midfielders against Manchester United on Sunday night, another option in James Garner being used out wide.

Carlos Alcaraz is another option, but Moyes is not blessed with players for Everton's engine room and will view it as a priority position to strengthen.

Dewsbury-Hall is viewed as an attack-minded midfielder, yet he has only contributed three goals and five assists from 72 Premier League appearances.

The FFC Rumour Mill: Fulham stagnant again as Marco Silva ponders future?
Jack Stroudley looks at the (lack of) ins and outs over the past week.

I finished my article last week by insinuating that the engine finally appears to be sparking at Fulham. Fast forward a week and the car has stalled and won't turn back on. Fulham start the season in just under two weeks and we've signed a back-up keeper on a free, what's equally if not more frustrating is the lack of news around the club regarding incomings. As you'll see shortly there isn't an awful lot to talk about from an incoming point of view with the main talking point of the week being Marco Silva.

Incomings
The Athletic reported last Friday that Fulham have reignited an interest in AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze, with the club looking at a loan with an option at the end of the season. That report was followed up by Gazzetta dello Sport who have claimed Fulham's loan bid was rejected and the Italian side are looking for €20M for the Nigerian winger. Chukwueze was someone who was linked heavily on deadline day in January but never came to fruition so this interest doesn't surprise me. Fulham need two wingers so this is one that could go the distance - if Fulham actually decide to pay a fee.

GiveMeSport have reported that Fulham have made an approach for Arsenal defender/midfielder Oleksandar Zinchenko alongside the previously mentioned Reiss Nelson (which by the way has no new update). The Sun has previously claimed in the summer that Fulham are interested but given the fact no one else has backed GiveMeSport up I'd say the truth behind an approach being made at the time of writing is minimal.

Honestly, that's it for this week for incoming news. Federico Chiesa and Tyler Dibling have both been mentioned but neither of which to any form of credibility. The clock is ticking Fulham.

Outgoings
Marco Silva's contract is up at the end of the season so has understandably began to be questioned regarding his future of which he was cryptic about when speaking to O Jago.

On returning to Portugal, he said, "I don't have any major long-term plans in that regard. Throughout my career, there's been that possibility, but the goal is the Premier League. I could have returned already; it's not even worth saying where but those opportunities didn't happen because it wasn't possible, and other times it was a personal decision. But in the short term, I'm looking at Fulham and then we'll see what happens next season. If the opportunity arose? We'll see."

Silva has also come out this week and once again criticised the club for their lack of transfer business in what we all know is a recurring theme. Does he think that he's hit his ceiling at Fulham? Maybe. Is this going to be something that brews over the season? Definitely.

Newcastle and Atalanta have both got an interest in Rodrigo Muniz with a fee of £40m being mentioned. Craig Hope is a top journalist so there will be some truth to this one. Maybe I'm being blissfully ignorant but I'm still not sure. Newcastle seem to be linked to every striker under the sun at the moment and I think it would take more than £40m to convince us to sell Muniz, just give him a new deal!

Harry Wilson's contract has once again cropped up with WestLondonSport reporting that while a deal isn't close talks are currently ongoing. Wilson's contract runs out next summer and the Welshman is reportedly happy at the club.

Finally, Luc De Fougerolles's loan move was confirmed with the Canadian international spending the upcoming campaign in Belgium playing for Pro League side F.C.V. Dender. "Fig Rolls" is someone that has a pathway into this Fulham side so minutes in a top European league could be crucial for him and his development into this Fulham team in the future.

Well, there's another week done! Another week closer to the season starting, another week closer to the window closing and Fulham have once again done nothing! What's the most alarming thing is the fact there isn't any whisperings of a signing. Nothing seems close and yes Fulham are usually quite good at keeping things under wraps but Silva is (understandably) frustrated. Tick tock Fulham, get on with it.

Leyton Orient sign Fulham winger Gordon
Leyton Orient have signed winger Lemar Gordon from Premier League side Fulham for an undisclosed fee.

The 19-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the O's, and has the option of a further 12 months.

Gordon did not make a first-team appearance for Fulham, although he did play four times for the club's under-21 side in the EFL Trophy.

He is the 12th new signing at Brisbane Road this summer, amid a much-changed Orient squad from the one that reached the League One play-off final last season.

"I have had a great footballing education at Fulham, and I believe now is the right time to start my next chapter and kickstart my senior career," Gordon said.

"I'm really determined to make that transition into playing regular men's football and I am taking inspiration from people like [Orient midfielder] Ollie O'Neill, who I know well from our time at Fulham together."

Gordon spent nine years with the Cottagers but rejected a new deal there to join Orient.

"As a coach, it is refreshing to see a player turn down a Premier League contract to sign for a club in League One," Orient boss Richie Wellens told the club website., external

"That instantly tells you a lot about his character; it means he is hungry to do well.

"Lemar has good technical skills and he is someone we will put a lot of work into. We believe he has the potential to be a very good player for this club in the future."

Fulham eyeing up Erabi?
Fulham are considering a move to sign Swedish striker Jusef Erabi from Hammarby as they struggle to sign players to supplement Marco Silva's squad.

Silva is seeking a new striker to challenge Raul Jimenez and Rodrigo Muniz this season but the Whites have failed to land a number of targets. Erabi, a Stockholm-born 6ft striker, has shone since breaking into Hammarby's first-team squad in 2020. He had been left out of Kim Hellberg's side last month as several Serie A sides and Lens looked at an £8.5m deal but he has returned to the team to score the winner as Bajen came from behind to beat Värnamo before scoring as Hammarby stunned Charleroi in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday night.

Erabi is among a number of names on a shortlist of strikers that the Cottagers are considering. The situation is complicated by the fact that Hammarby are in the running for their first Allsvenskan since 2001 and face Rosenborg in the next round of the Conference League on Thursday. A deal would be contingent on the Whites committing to spend around £10m on the striker as well as loaning him back to Hammarby until the end of the Swedish season.

Hammarby don't want to lose one of their key players at a crucial stage of their domestic and continental campaign and are mindful of what happened to the last promising striker they sold to Fulham. Bjorn Runstrom joined the Whites at nineteen after being scouted by Chris Coleman – but made just one first-team appearance and eventually returned to Bajen three years later.

Juventus rule out Sander Berge summer move
Juventus are not expected to make a move for Fulham midfielder Sander Berge despite pushing to sell current star Douglas Luiz in this window.

According to Give Me Sport, Juventus have ruled out a potential move for Sander Berge despite recent reports linking them with the Norwegian midfielder. The Serie A giants have distanced themselves from a potential move for the Fulham star, as they could find another option in the market to replace Douglas Luiz.

Fulham have been one of the quietest teams in the Premier League this window. While others around them are busy strengthening their squad in the market, the Cottagers are biding their time with it. There are a few links with players around, as Marco Silva's side are likely to get into action to bring in the right reinforcements.

Arsenal's Oleksandr Zinchenko remains linked alongside teammate Reiss Nelson. As per reports, a move for the latter is much closer than the former, while there are other areas of the pitch that Silva would like to cover. Heading into the window, Fulham's primary objective leaned towards keeping hold of most of their existing stars, but some are being linked with other clubs.

Striker Rodrigo Muniz is a prime example, with the Brazilian attacker attracting big interest from elsewhere. Recently, there were credible reports linking midfielder Sander Berge with an exit, with Juventus the most interested party for the Norwegian international.

Juventus are pushing to sell midfielder Douglas Luiz to Nottingham Forest, while there are other Premier League sides showing big interest in bringing the Brazilian back to England. Either way, the midfielder is expected to end a fruitless one-year spell in Turin and re-join the Premier League, as the Bianconeri probably viewed Berge as a viable replacement option for the Brazilian.

Juventus rule out Sander Berge move

Morning campers. All this wait until the window is on the way to being slammed shut to save a few bob is irritating me. The idea is to finish as high as possible to receive a bigger payout. Was it speculate to accumulate? So why hang about and hope? Silva has improved year on year, last season we may have faffed about v the lower sides but there were many unexpected results v the so called big ones. If Traore could finish there would have been another at Man City. And we put the Cup holders out in their own scruffy stadium. We cannot see Silva leave because of a lack of serious, but realistic backing by the club.

They have very deep pockets and hands that can reach the bottom of them, but there are limits imposed on what can be spent on the playing side of the club - as the Riverside demonstrates - they are still spending on other areas

I'm pretty sure that was their first and last time they've spent over £100m in a single season. They've come close-ish in other seasons but those were aided by big sales like Palhinha and Mitrovic. I mean PSR could definitely be a factor given over the last three seasons, we had a total net spend of about -£90m but I do feel like the reluctance to buy big and early has stemmed from that disastrous season (I mean the players we bought/loaned were terrific but managed terribly).

This just iterates the necessity of bringing in our own young talent from the academy.
