Fabrizio Romano: Man City in talks to sell £35m defensive machine after bid made for Fulham, Crystal Palace and Tottenham target
Manchester City are in talks to sell Oscar Bobb with a £35m offer on the table from a Premier League rival

Manchester City endured a miserable night in the Champions League on Tuesday as they were beaten 3-1 by Bodo/Glimt in a result that has dented their hopes of a top-eight finish.

Pep Guardiola's side went 3-0 down to the Norwegian side before Rayan Cherki pulled a goal back just two minutes after the hosts had earned their three-goal advantage. However, any hopes of a City comeback were extinguished when Rodri picked up two yellow cards in as many minutes and was sent off.

City have been busy in the transfer window with the arrivals of Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo. However, the duo were not able to feature on Tuesday because UEFA rules do not permit new signings to be registered until after the league phase.

With the focus being on incomings this window, City are also looking to offload some players.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, they are in talks with Fulham about a deal for Oscar Bobb. The West London outfit have a £35m offer on the table as they look to beat some of their Premier League rivals to the player's signature.

Romano said: "Fulham in talks to sign Oscar Bobb on permanent deal from Man City. Proposal around £35m on the table and being negotiated with MCFC. Borussia Dortmund remain keen since December, set to decide about bidding or not soon."

The Daily Mail had named Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace as potential suitors ahead of the January window with regular reports of those clubs still being linked to the winger since.

Last weekend, Football Insider reported that Dortmund were leading the race for Bobb with Palace more firmly in the mix compared to Spurs. However, Fulham have made a move for the City man who has not played since picking up an injury against Brentford in the Carabao Cup in mid-December.

Asked if the player would remain at City beyond the end of the window, Guardiola said: "I have no idea. No idea."

Back in October after a win over Brentford, the City boss had been full of praise for the defender. He said: "Oscar defensively is a machine, he helped us a lot and in the final third. His one-v-one is really good and he made good decisions. I'm really pleased he played good.

"I will encourage him to be more incisive and when he goes one on one, two v two, he can create really big situations.

"He made an incredible pass to Phil which was a clear chance on the penalty spot that he should have got on target. In general, he was really, really good in that 1st half and defensively, offensively - in all aspects and he is a player we trust a lot."

Fulham winning race to sign former Tottenham Hotspur starlet once tipped 'the next Harry Kane'
Tottenham Hotspur's ex-academy striker has been impressing in Europe and on the international stage

Fulham are in prime position to land a former Tottenham Hotspur academy star who was once tipped to be "the next Harry Kane".

A relatively quiet summer window saw the Cottagers spend the bulk of their budget on the alluringly-named young Brazilian, Kevin.

He was joined by Jonah Kusi-Asare, Benjamin Lecomte and Samuel Chukwueze, the latter of whom made a surprising impact with limited minutes before jetting off to the Africa Cup of Nations.

ulham lead race for the 'the next Harry Kane'
Despite that, Marco Silva's side look light up front, with Rodrigo Muniz injured, Raul Jimenez entering the twilight of his career, and Kusi-Asare scarcely getting a look in.

Fulham have landed on a target they hope will bolster their attacking ranks, but those watching on from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be praying it doesn't work out too well.

Fulham are said to be leading the race for AZ Alkmaar striker Troy Parrott, according to Independent journalist Miguel Delaney.

They are joined in that battle by German outfit Wolfsburg and LaLiga side Real Betis, but the interest is believed to be the strongest from the west London club.

Parrott already had a substantial profile through his connection to Spurs – once tipped as the next Harry Kane – but the spotlight intensified after he put two past Portugal before netting a hat-trick against Hungary three days later, bagging the Republic of Ireland a World Cup play-off spot in the process.

The 23-year-old left Spurs permanently in the summer of 2024 in a deal that cost AZ just under £7m.

He's now scored 39 goals in 72 outings for the Dutch side, who are said to want more than the £17.4m supposedly proposed by Wolfsburg, with Fulham showing the strongest interest of the named trio.

It's clear Parrott is flying in the Eredivisie at the minute so, in FourFourTwo's opinion, it might not be long until we see him back in one of Europe's top five leagues.

However, per Delaney's report, the Irish striker wants to consider his next move carefully, and while a Premier League return is his ultimate aim, he may benefit from taking another step to get there.

There would certainly be no shame in doing so for Parrott, as Erling Haaland did precisely the same in heading to Borussia Dortmund to prepare for the intensity of England's top tier, and he's doing quite well for himself now.

Parrott is valued at €22m, according to Transfermarkt.

Paris FC in transfer tussle to sign Issa Diop from Fulham
Paris FC will reportedly look to sign 29-year-old French defender Issa Diop from Fulham in the winter transfer window.

According to a report by Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, Issa Diop is the subject of interest from Paris FC. The Blues are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a centre-back in the winter transfer window. So, the 29-year-old Fulham centre-back has emerged as a target for the Ligue 1 outfit.

The latest update has revealed that "there is nothing formal at this stage" as we approach the final days of the winter transfer window. However, Paris FC will attempt to sign players "not playing regularly enough" in the Premier League, and they have also set their sights on Tottenham Hotspur attacking prospect Mathys Tel.

How has Issa Diop fared at Fulham?
Issa Diop has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Fulham from West Ham United in August 2022. Born in Toulouse, the Frenchman spent most of his formative years in his hometown, starting his youth career with Balma SC before graduating from the youth division at Toulouse FC. The 29-year-old had hype surrounding him when he moved to West Ham in July 2018.

However, the French defender has been in and out of the starting lineup during his spell with Fulham, and he has managed only 773 minutes of game time across 12 appearances in all competitions thus far in the 2025/26 season. Nevertheless, Diop's stock remains high, with Paris FC among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the winter transfer window.

Ligue 1 return on the horizon?
Paris FC's interest in Issa Diop is understandable. The Blues have been scouring the market for players who can help them avoid relegation from Ligue 1 in the second half of the 2025/25 season. While Stephane Gilli's men are seven points clear of the drop zone, they need new players to retain their spot in the standings and move into the top half of the table.

Several candidates, including Mathys Tel, have thus emerged on Paris FC's wishlist. However, while the Tottenham Hotspur attacking prospect is a viable target to bolster their offensive unit, the Ligue 1 upstarts have set their sights on Diop to reinforce their defensive department.

Fulham front-runners to sign Troy Parrott
Fulham will reportedly look to sign 23-year-old Republic of Ireland international Troy Parrott from Eredivisie club AZ Alkmaar in the winter transfer window.

According to a report by The Independent, Troy Parrott is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker in the winter transfer window. So, the 23-year-old AZ Alkmaar centre-forward has emerged as a target for the West London club.

However, Fulham will not be alone in the battle for the Irishman's signature, as he is also a target for Real Betis and VfL Wolfsburg. The three clubs are the front-runners to land Parrott, with the Bundesliga outfit discussing a deal worth €20 million. However, AZ Alkmaar will demand more to part ways with the former Tottenham Hotspur prospect.

How has Troy Parrott fared since leaving Tottenham?
Troy Parrott has made considerable progress since leaving Tottenham Hotspur and joining AZ Alkmaar in July 2024. The 23-year-old has been one of the best young prospects in the Eredivisie, and he has recently been in the news after singlehandedly taking the Republic of Ireland closer to a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup by scoring all five goals as the Green Army reached the playoffs with narrow wins over Portugal and Hungary.

Meanwhile, Parrott has contributed to 23 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions thus far in the 2025/26 season by scoring 19 times and providing four assists. The Irish striker's exploits have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Fulham will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature this year.

A man in demand
Fulham's interest in Troy Parrott is understandable. The Cottagers have been scouring the market for a striker heading into the winter transfer window, as Raul Jimenez has been the only available centre-forward in Marco Silva's squad due to Rodrigo Muniz's long-term hamstring injury.

With Jimenez on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career, Fulham can do with a new striker. Several candidates, including Ricardo Pepi and Evan Ferguson, have thus emerged on the West London club's wishlist, with Parrott also a viable target. However, Fulham will not be alone in the battle for the Irishman's signature, as Real Betis and VfL Wolfsburg are also interested in him.

The three clubs are the front-runners to land Parrott, with the Bundesliga outfit discussing a deal worth €20 million. With many other Premier League clubs also keen on signing the 23-year-old Republic of Ireland international, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him.

Do Fulham need to sign another striker this month?
It's reported a centre-forward is on Marco Silva's January shopping list, but is it necessary?

Marco Silva has never disguised his frustration with Fulham's summer recruitment, repeatedly lamenting what he described as a "passive" transfer window.

Despite a familiar flurry of activity on Deadline Day in the summer, Silva felt the club's hierarchy had left his squad short in key areas.

Speaking ahead of the January window, the head coach was again pointed, insisting "It's clear what we need" and stressing that the board were aligned on addressing the shortcomings from the summer by strengthening the squad this month.

While Silva has never publicly detailed the specific positions, it's understood that a central midfielder, a winger and a centre-forward are top of the shopping list.

Unsurprisingly, Fulham have since been linked with three players fitting those profiles this week: Oscar Bobb, Arthur Atta and Ricardo Pepi.

Depth in midfield and out wide would be hugely welcome. But do Fulham really need Pepi – or indeed another striker – for the remainder of the season?

Assessing the centre-forward situation
With Rodrigo Muniz sidelined for at least a few more weeks after a serious hamstring injury in November, the burden of leading the line has fallen almost entirely on 34-year-old Raul Jimenez. Jonah Kusi-Asare remains too inexperienced and untrustworthy to offer reliable cover, playing just 30 minutes across five league appearances.

In the short term, with Muniz set to miss the next four games, another centre-forward would clearly help manage Jimenez's workload. That context makes Fulham's pursuit of PSV bagsman Pepi a curious one.

Fulham had a £26m bid rejected from the Dutch club in late Decembe and are expected to return with an improved bid this month, despite Pepi suffering a broken forearm on 10 January, ruling him out for two months. This signing would not solve any short-term issues.

At 23, Pepi would be a long-term investment and a potential successor to Jimenez, whose contract expires in the summer. But his arrival, alongside Muniz's return, would eventually leave Fulham with three senior strikers, all expecting regular minutes.

AZ Alkmaar's Troy Parrott has also been linked, offering a more immediate option, but the same issues would emerge once Muniz is fit.

The problems with three first-team strikers
Jimenez would undoubtedly welcome cover, but he has done more than enough in recent weeks to show he remains capable of leading the line in the top flight. With a World Cup approaching in his home country, maintaining match sharpness will be a priority.

Pepi, too, would be conscious of the upcoming World Cup as a US international, and would likely only agree to a switch to SW6 this month with the promise of significant minutes. With PSV valuing the striker at around £35-40m, it would make little sense for a marquee signing to arrive as third choice.

Muniz's status also complicates matters. Handed the number nine jersey and tied down to a long-term deal, the Brazilian has started the majority of matches when fit since 2024/25 and is clearly viewed as more than a backup option.

Even if Jimenez were to leave in the summer, leaving Muniz and Pepi — or an alternative — as Fulham's two senior strikers, the question remains whether the club would look to add a third.

Convincing a forward of genuine starting quality to accept that role would be difficult, unless Fulham turn to youth, a route that risks repeating the Kusi-Asare situation. Three strikers would be justified if Fulham qualified for Europe next season; without that added fixture load, the debate becomes far more nuanced.

An alternative
One alternative would be for Fulham to delay any move for Pepi — or another striker — until the summer and instead recruit a wide player capable of operating through the middle of a front three.

It is a model that neighbours Brentford use effectively. Igor Thiago leads the line, but Kevin Schade and Dango Ouattara, while not specialist number nines, are both trusted to deputise when required.

A similar approach under Silva could solve both short and long-term issues. It would provide immediate cover out wide, ease the burden on Jimenez, while creating competition, rotation, and cover upon Muniz's return.

Looking ahead to next season, if Fulham once again operate with two recognised centre-forwards, supported by an adaptable wide player capable of filling in centrally if needed, it provides solutions in an injury crisis, while avoiding the risk of a frustrated third choice striker short on minutes.

Ultimately, if Silva believes three strikers are necessary, the club and supporters should trust his judgement – particularly if it helps persuade the 48-year-old to commit his future to Craven Cottage.

Report: Fulham face major battle for international star
Fulham position themselves in growing Parrott pursuit

Fulham's recruitment strategy has taken a decisive turn, with the club now leading a competitive chase for Troy Parrott. As reported by The Independent, the Premier League side are up against Wolfsburg and Real Betis in what is shaping up to be one of the more intriguing forward races of the coming months.

Parrott's stock has surged following a remarkable international break, where five goals against Portugal and Hungary propelled the Republic of Ireland into a World Cup 2026 play off. That burst of attention, however, only accelerated interest already building across Europe after a sustained run of form for AZ Alkmaar.

Club interest widens across Europe
Wolfsburg have discussed a €20m (£17.4m) deal, though it is understood AZ would want more. Fulham have so far shown the strongest interest from the Premier League, positioning themselves early rather than reacting late. That matters in a market where Parrott's age, output and development curve appeal widely.

The striker's recent international impact came on the back of steady progress in the Eredivisie, where his movement and finishing have matured. It is a reminder that national team moments often validate club level growth rather than create it from nowhere.

Career pathway central to decision
Parrott, who originally came through Tottenham Hotspur, is understood to be weighing his next step carefully. While a Premier League return appeals, any English move must fully make sense for both his current position and long term prospects. That is why staying on the continent remains a genuine option, with the Bundesliga viewed as particularly attractive for player development.

His numbers underline the attraction. Nine goals in 13 Eredivisie games sit alongside 10 more across Conference League qualifiers and the KNVB Cup. He is tied fourth in the Eredivisie scoring charts, with Ayase Ueda leading the way for Feyenoord.

Fulham's challenge now is clear. Convince Parrott that London offers not just a return, but progression.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis
For Fulham supporters, this link feels unusually logical. The club have often been accused of shopping opportunistically rather than strategically, but Parrott fits a clearer plan. He is young, improving, and already proven outside England, which matters after previous gambles on potential alone.

Fans will also recognise the value of timing. Moving early, before a full scale bidding war erupts, signals intent and competence. That alone is encouraging for a support base keen to see Fulham consolidate rather than merely survive.

There is, however, understandable caution. Premier League returns are rarely straightforward, especially for players who left early and rebuilt elsewhere. Supporters will want reassurance that Parrott arrives as a starter in waiting, not a developmental afterthought.

The reported €20m discussion sets expectations. This would be an investment, not a punt. If Fulham can offer clarity of role and patience, many fans believe this is exactly the sort of signing that nudges the club forward incrementally rather than dramatically.

For Fulham supporters, the hope is simple. That this time, ambition and alignment finally meet.

Newcastle United eager to steal a march on Fulham in Oscar Bobb chase, Tottenham also keen
Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing 22-year-old Manchester City attacker Oscar Bobb, who is also a target for Fulham.

Oscar Bobb has been linked with a move away from Manchester City this month after struggling for regular opportunities. Antoine Semenyo's arrival has pushed the Norwegian international further down the pecking order. He needs to leave the club to play more often. Fulham are among the prospective suitors interested in signing the young winger.

According to Sports Boom, however, Newcastle United have now joined the race. The 22-year-old is likely to cost around £30 million, and it will be interesting to see where he has the talent to develop into a quality Premier League player.

Regular football at Fulham or Newcastle United could be ideal for Oscar Bobb. Both clubs have exciting projects, and he is likely to be tempted to join them. He should look to join a club with a clear, prominent role for him. He needs to play every week at this stage of his career.

Spurs also interested
Meanwhile, the report also claims that Tottenham are monitoring Oscar Bobb's situation. It will be interesting to see if the North London club are willing to make a move before the January window. Manchester City are unlikely to stand in his way if the asking price is met.

Tottenham have the financial muscle to get the deal done, and they need more quality on the flanks after selling Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace. The Norwegian winger could be a solid long-term acquisition for them. Spurs could be a more attractive destination compared to the other two clubs. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Newcastle United and Fulham need more quality on the flanks as well. They need to add more unpredictability to the attacking unit. Fulham, in particular, are pushing for European football next season and the right moves in January could help them sustain their current run of form. It will be interesting to see if they can beat the other two clubs to his signature. Whoever ends up signing the 22-year-old could have a future star on their hands.

Fulham refuse to give up January signing – €35m offer suggested
Fulham are potentially planning a second bid for PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi, despite his broken arm.

That's according to Soccer News. They cover the player today, including comments from journalist Mounir Boualin.

Pepi is a long-term target for Fulham. They made an attempt for the striker in the summer and have revived their interest this month.

They're 'very attracted' to the striker and saw a bid of €25-30m rejected by PSV this month. Their sporting director Earnest Stewart publicly insisted that they weren't going to sell. That was followed by reports they could look for as much as €45m.

The belief is that the Dutch side are determined to keep Pepi until the summer. The hope, it seems, is that he performs at the tournament and they get a World Cup bonus.

Fulham, though, are reportedly considering a second attempt for the striker. A report last week insisted they haven't quite given up on Pepi this month despite PSV knocking them back. That would be strange, given he's facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering a broken arm.

€35m Fulham gamble suggested
Boualin has tried to explain that. He believes Fulham might think they can get themselves a discount.

"Fulham don't want to give up at this point," he said in the latest episode of Transfermind, a Soccer News podcast.

"Perhaps they have the idea or feeling that they can get Pepi to England with a small discount now that he's injured.

"Perhaps Fulham are now thinking we'll give it another try and gamble on a fee around €35m. PSV might just bite then. PSV will consider the amount at which they're willing to let him go.

"He's a player who will definitely be out of action for another six to seven weeks. They'll also need to identify replacements who can be brought in immediately should Pepi leave. I think those are the things the club is currently discussing."

Fulham in race against time to seal crucial deal as Everton, Leeds United eye standout star
Harry Wilson's contract situation at Fulham has come back into focus as the Whites join the race to sign Manchester City winger Oscar Bobb, and Everton and Leeds United are tracking the Welsh international.

There is a growing belief that Bobb would be viewed as a potential replacement for Adama Traore, who is expected to join West Ham United this month or, if not, will be available as a free agent at the end of the season.

However, sources have also raised concerns internally at Fulham over Wilson's own future, with the 28-year-old yet to sign a new deal, and his current contract expiring at the season's end.

As my colleague, Graeme Bailey, revealed on January 18, Everton and Leeds are monitoring Wilson's situation closely – poised to strike should he become available.

Bailey understands Wilson could be tempted by a return to the north of England.

Wilson has had a new contract offer at Fulham on the table since November, but negotiations are understood to have slowed down as his representatives test the market to assess what opportunities may be available following an impressive run of form.

The winger has been one of the Cottagers' standout performers this term, notching seven goals and four assists in 21 Premier League appearances so far, so it's no surprise to see interest in him ramp up.

Fulham hoping for Wilson breakthrough
While Wilson's situation is uncertain, and Fulham are eager for him to put pen to paper on an extension soon, it is not believed he is actively pushing to leave Craven Cottage.

Sources confirm Wilson maintains a strong relationship with head coach Marco Silva, too.

The expectation within the club had been that an announcement on his new contract would be made this month.

But if no new deal comes to fruition, there will be no shortage of options available to Wilson come the end of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Fulham are pushing to complete a deal for Man City star Bobb.

Reports yesterday stated that Fulham are closing in on a £35m deal to sign the winger. Tottenham are also interested, but it is Fulham who are leading the race, it's claimed.

His arrival would come as a significant boost for Silva and his team but as mentioned, he is seen as a Traore replacement, rather than one for Wilson.

Club América reportedly eye post-World Cup return for Fulham's Raúl Jiménez
Club América are exploring a potential move to bring Fulham striker Raúl Jiménez back to the club after the 2026 World Cup, sources say. While midfield reinforcements remain the short-term priority, the veteran forward is emerging as a longer-term target. Jiménez started his career with the club and scored 36 goals in 96 league appearances for the club between 2011 and 2014.

Midfield reinforcement prioritized
Club América are already shaping their medium-term sporting vision as they aim to remain competitive both domestically and on the international stage. According to reports from Medio Tempo and Fox Sports, the club is interested in bringing Jiménez back in the future, but their immediate focus lies elsewhere. América have already opened talks with Palmeiras midfielder Raphael Veiga, making it clear that strengthening the midfield is the top priority. The plan is to add a dynamic box-to-box presence capable of providing balance, tempo, and attacking creativity - an area that has shown clear inconsistency so far this season.

Post-World Cup return
Jiménez, whose contract with Fulham expires this summer, would arrive as a free agent and at a mature stage of his career. Club executives believe his experience, leadership, and goal-scoring instincts could be decisive in high-pressure moments, while also strengthening the squad's identity by blending national talent with internationally proven figures.

Experience and leadership
The potential reunion would carry strong symbolic weight for supporters. Jiménez previously made 102 overall appearances for América before earning his move to Europe. That spell established him as one of Mexico's most promising forwards of his generation - one whose journey could now come full circle back at the Estadio Azteca.

What comes next for Club América?
Club América have endured a forgettable start to the Clausura 2026 season. After three matches, they have collected just two points and are yet to score a single goal in the tournament. Their next test will come on Jan. 31, when they face Necaxa on Matchday 4.
