At a glance

Casemiro heads Man Utd in front after VAR overturned penalty for home side

Matheus Cunha scores in successive games to double lead

Raul Jimenez nets late penalty before Kevin levels in stoppage time

Benjamin Sesko with dramatic late winner to give Man Utd third successive win

Benjamin Sesko scored a stoppage-time winner as Manchester United made it three wins in a row under Michael Carrick in a Premier League thriller with Fulham at Old Trafford.

In a match preceded by a protest attended by 500-600 fans, according to police sources, United seemed to be cruising to victory as Brazilian duo Casemiro and Matheus Cunha put them two up with goals either side of half-time.

But after Raul Jimenez pulled one back five minutes from time with a brilliant penalty into the roof of the home net, Kevin looked to have snatched a point with a thunderous strike to the top corner.

However, in nine minutes of time added on mainly due to two lengthy VAR checks that resulted in United having a penalty overturned and Fulham a goal disallowed, Sesko turned on to a Bruno Fernandes pass and drilled a shot into the top corner.

It took Ruben Amorim 36 Premier League games to win three in a row as United chief, his only sequence of successive victories.

Carrick has taken just three and was serenaded by the home supporters as his side went back into the Premier League's top four.

Old boy Carrick winds back clock for old-style win
There are some parts of football games that are best to watch to work out what actually happened.

This dramatic, switchback Premier League thriller is worth watching from the 85th minute onwards.

At that point, United and their fans thought they had won.

Casemiro had put the hosts in front after a bizarre period of play. The home side were initially awarded a penalty by referee John Brooks for a Jorge Cuenca foul on Cunha. However, VAR James Bell overturned it as the final contact was outside the area.

Bruno Fernandes floated the free-kick to the far post and Casemiro headed home.

Casemiro then turned provider 11 minutes after half-time as he threaded a pass through the Fulham defence to Cunha, who smashed home United's second.

But the consequences of the initial VAR check – and the one that ruled out Jorge Cuenca's second-half effort, which took so long both sets of supporters chanted against the system and drew an irritated reaction from Cottagers boss Marco Silva, was yet to be fully felt.

Jimenez delayed and delayed his penalty after he had been upended by Harry Maguire but eventually sent it right into the roof of the net.

Nine minutes injury-time was shown, which meant as Fulham celebrated Kevin's brutal strike, Carrick and his players knew there was still time to respond.

So much has been mentioned recently about supposed 'United DNA'. It is a difficult concept to define but, in historical terms, scoring very late goals must be part of it.

And, with an old boy in the dug-out, so an old-style finish came to pass.

Sesko kept his cool as he controlled Fernandes' cross and turned in the area before taking advantage of Fulham's failure to get to him quickly enough.

Fulham analysis: Late transfer business not helping Silva
Fulham head into deadline day with doubts over playmaker Harry Wilson, who again excelled even though he ended up on the losing side.

Oscar Bobb is yet to make his debut following his £27m move from Manchester City but will be in contention for next weekend's encounter with Everton.

It must be a frustration for Silva, who has developed an excellent squad but may find they fall just short of a place in Europe because of a repeated failure to execute transfer deals quickly enough.

Silva clearly was not happy at Cuenca's goal being disallowed. It is impossible to say what would have happened had Fulham scored earlier in the game than they did.

As it was, they do at least have the memory of Kevin's effort and also that of Jimenez, who seemed to defy all logic of penalty-taking given the number of times he checked his run-up, waiting in vain for Senne Lammens to commit himself, before eventually aiming for the highest part of the goal.

Pre-match protest
Police estimate between 500 and 600 fans took part in the planned pre-match demonstration against United's ownership.

This was a long way below the figure the 1958 United fans group said they expected to be present.

It was colourful and noisy though and it was clear from chants inside the stadium, which are repeated every time United play, many have no affection for either the Glazer family or Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who become a minority shareholder in 2024 and is effectively responsible for running the club.

The expense involved in hiring Dan Ashworth as technical director and then getting rid of him after five months, the decision to keep, then sack Erik ten Hag, and then hire and sack Ruben Amorim is proof Ratcliffe has not got everything right.

However, Cunha and Sesko are both part of a recruitment campaign over the last 12 months that is much improved on what has gone before.

Nevertheless, fan sentiment runs deep.

"Does he intend on buying the Glazers out?" said 1958 Group spokesman Steve Crompton. "I don't think so. I don't think the money's there to do it.

"So, is this just going to be a match made in heaven as far as he's concerned?

"They're pushing ahead with the vanity project of this new stadium, the ticket prices are going up and the rules around them are becoming more and more stringent. The traditional fans are just getting priced out.

"Everything's just a mess."

What comes next?
Manchester United are next in action against Tottenham, also at Old Trafford, on Saturday, 7 February (12:30 GMT). Fulham also play on Saturday, 7 February, against Everton at Craven Cottage (15:00 GMT).

Post-Man Utd Press Conference
Marco Silva was proud of Fulham's efforts at Old Trafford, and believes his side were good value for a draw.

Having trailed 2-0 heading into the last five minutes, goals from Raúl Jiménez and Kevin looked set to have won us a hard earned point, but Benjamin Sesko struck in the 94th minute to break black and white hearts.

"Emotional game, good game of football in different moments," Silva said. "I really liked the way we built our offensive moments – United tried to press us high, but the way we were able to break that pressure, being brave, [with] quality, good dynamic to break it. It was impressive, was very good from us, I have to say.

"They scored in a moment that is difficult to talk about and probably shouldn't go too deep on that situation. Looking just for the free-kick and looking for ourselves, what we can control, we have to defend much better.

"Second half, I think we took control of the game. We switched off in one moment, and what a goal from Matheus [Cunha], but what a way the team reacted. The way the team reacted and pushed Man United completely back.

"We saw the last 25 minutes, United defending, winning 2-0 at home, defending 15-20 metres around their box. And even so, we were able to create some good moments.

"We scored two goals, we had the disallowed goal by margins, and yes, after we lost the game. Tough moment for us, good goal from Man United, and this is the ambition of this team.

"When you score the goal, probably be a bit more mature. We gave feedback inside the pitch that, of course, Man United is going to react, and try to come again. A moment for us to be a bit more mature, and to close a little bit more that space. We tried to win the ball again, we tried to press, and Bruno [Fernandes] made a big assist in that situation, and they scored.

"I really believe that we deserved much more from the game in terms of result, but football is like that. But great performance from ourselves, our second half was incredibly good."

Man Utd 3-2 Fulham
A late Fulham comeback ended up counting for little as a stoppage time Benjamin Sesko strike condemned us to a 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford.

After trailing to Casemiro's header from a controversial free-kick and Matheus Cunha's thumping finish, the Whites fought back brilliantly through Raúl Jiménez's exquisite penalty - on his 100th appearance for the Club - and Kevin's gorgeous long ranger.

But United had the final say, with Sesko coolly finding the top corner after being allowed to control, shape and shoot in the area, denying the boys what would have been a richly deserved point.

Marco Silva made just one change to the side that faced Brighton a week earlier, as Samuel Chukwueze was rewarded for his goal off the bench with a start at the expense of Kevin.

After an early Joachim Andersen effort from 20 yards that flew over, Amad Diallo had the game's first shot on target when he cut inside onto his left foot and curled one towards the top corner that Bernd Leno palmed away.

Harry Maguire drew another routine save from Leno at a corner, but it was from a set-play of our own at the other end that the deadlock was almost broken, Senne Lammens making an excellent reaction stop to deny Andersen's flick.

Referee John Brooks awarded United a penalty after quarter of an hour, believing Jorge Cuenca had fouled Cunha, but VAR spotted that the Fulham man got a toe on the ball and downgraded the decision to a free-kick on the edge of the box for a holding offence – a decision that felt soft. Frustratingly, they stuck it away anyway when Casemiro headed in Bruno Fernandes' delivery.

The Whites response came through a swept Chukwueze shot, but a deflection off Diogo Dalot made it simple for Lammens.

Alex Iwobi then took aim with a daisy cutter from range that called Lammens into action again.

The home side fashioned the first opening of the second half when Dalot slid Bryan Mbeumo in, but Leno raced out to save bravely.

It was Fulham's turn to threaten next, with a dangerous Chukwueze ball across the face hacked away by Lisandro Martinez, before Lammens made a fine reaction save to keep out a Harry Wilson free-kick.

But it was soon 2-0, Cunha rifling high into the net after he had been slipped in by Casemiro's no-look pass.

We thought we reduced the deficit when Cuenca reacted first to lash home after Raúl's free-kick was blocked, but after a seemingly never-ending VAR check, an offside was found to rule it out.

United brought on Sesko and the striker nearly scored with his first touch, sending his header against the post and then nodding the follow-up over.

As we entered the final 10 minutes, a lovely Andersen cross dropped over the head of Maguire, allowing Raúl to bring it down and poke goalwards, but Lammens got fingertips to push it behind.

Fulham were refusing to lie down and were handed a lifeline when Raúl was chopped by Maguire in the box. Our number seven dusted himself down to step up and dispatch a wonderful penalty into the top corner, making himself the outright most successful spot-kick taker in Premier League history.

Buoyed by nine minutes of added time, we struck a deserved equaliser in the first of them when Kevin rattled home his first Premier League goal for the Club in emphatic style, whipping a beautiful strike into the postage stamp from the edge of the box.

Sickeningly, though, there was another twist, with Sesko rifling home to secure the points for United.

Fulham lose to Man Utd after late drama
A dramatic stoppage-time winner by Benjamin Sesko condemned Fulham to defeat at Old Trafford after they had come back from two down late on.

Goals from Casemiro and Matheus Cunha either side of half-time gave Manchester United a 2-0 lead, but Fulham responded through Raul Jimenez and Kevin to level.

Casemiro headed in from Bruno Fernandes' free-kick in the first half, moments after a penalty was initially given to United. VAR checked and downgraded the decision to a free-kick for holding, after Jorge Cuenca challenged for the ball near the box.

Cunha doubled the hosts' lead in the second half with a powerful drive beyond keeper Bernd Leno.

Jimenez's penalty after he had been fouled by Harry Maguire gave Fulham hope, and Kevin curled in a beautiful strike to level in added time, but United's lead was restored by Sesko, who collected Fernandes' pass and turned and fired home.

Fulham: Leno, Castagne, Andersen, Cuenca (Bassey 86), Robinson (Sessegnon 71), Berge, Iwobi, Wilson, Smith Rowe (Kevin 71), Chukwueze (Cairney 79), Jimenez.
Subs not used: Lecomte, Tete, Reed, King, Kusi-Asare.

Manchester United 3-2 Fulham: Sesko saves 3 points after late drama
Manchester United have done it again under interim boss Michael Carrick.

The Reds made it three wins in a row under the former United midfield maestro, again to the tune of 3-2, but they didn't make it easy for themselves at Old Trafford on Sunday.

United's XI had just one change to the side that beat City and Arsenal the last two weeks, with Matheus Cunha returning to the starting lineup after an injury to Patrick Dorgu. The Brazilian played more of a fluid role on the front line rather than the wide play offered by Dorgu, and Bryan Mbeumo would often switch with his teammate from the striker position.

As expected, there wasn't always so much room to attack against Fulham as there was against City two weeks ago, and United spent quite a bit of time looking to break out against the visitors. Despite a few wayward passes early on, the midfield duo of Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro once again found the paths forward and offered excellent play against the Fulham press.

Casemiro eventually made a big difference in front of goal as well, heading home a free kick to put United 1-0 up. The play was initially a penalty after a foul on Cunha, but the VAR intervened to place the free kick just on the edge of the box. It didn't matter too much for Bruno Fernandes. Instead of finding one of the corners of the goal from the spot, he found his midfield partner on a cross to invite the header at the back post.

The second half began with Fulham on the front foot, but again Mainoo and Casemiro helped the Reds play out of it. Mainoo did well to find Amad and force the ball up the pitch, but it took some patience to get the team forward and create a quality chance. Casemiro spotted Cunha on the shoulder of the back line, and found him with a well weighted pass out in front down the right half space. Cunha fired a thunderous shot past Bernd Leno and doubled the advantage just 10 minutes after the restart.

It felt as though the game was in hand for United, but Fulham were threatening. They had a goal chalked off due to offside, but eventually won a penalty in the 82nd minute to make it 2-1.

Substitute Kevin brought the sides level again with a great strike from the edge of the box, taking advantage of poor judgement by Manuel Ugarte to present the Brazilian winger with space to shoot, and suddenly it looked like the magic had run out going into stoppage time.

But the Reds had an answer with a sub of their own: Benjamin Sesko.

The striker nearly made it 3-0 with his first touch, only to hit the upright, but he didn't miss on his next chance when his side needed him most. He took a bit of a heavy touch to receive the ball near the penalty spot, and had to move a bit awkwardly to fire off a shot, but he knew just where the top right corner was and put the ball in place for 3-2.

What felt like an eternity of stoppage time, about 11 minutes, finally came to a close with United on top for 3 points once again. The march on with Carrick continues with United still in the top four.

'Very Tense Hours' As Fulham Slap In New Bid For Target
'Very tense hours' are now in prospect after Fulham put in a new bid for attacker Ricardo Pepi which met PSV Eindhoven's asking price for the American.

Fulham have been desperate to land the striker in the winter transfer window, but have found the going tough.

PSV Eindhoven have been opposed to selling Pepi now though, with Fulham failing with bids and a move dubbed 'not realistic'.

Now with the end of the window approaching, the Cottagers have intensified their work to sign Pepi after refusing to give up.

According to Spanish journalist Eduardo Burgos, Fulham have put in a new offer for Pepi and it has reached the €35m figure that PSV Eindhoven have been looking for.

Now talks are taking place in an attempt to finalise the transfer before the closure of the transfer window on Monday evening.

It is suggested that 'very tense hours' are now in prospect as Fulham look to get the capture of Pepi over the line.

Cottagers boss Marco Silva has put Fulham in contention for a European spot finish in the Premier League and is keen for reinforcements.

He has just landed Oscar Bobb from Manchester City, with big cash splashed out for the Norwegian.

Now the race is on to get Pepi in through the door too.

Pepi, 23, has so far scored eight times in 15 Eredivisie games for PSV Eindhoven this season, along with striking on three occasions in the Champions League.

The American found the back of the net against Napoli, Olympiacos and Atletico Madrid, but missed PSV Eindhoven's final two league phase games through injury.

Fulham will be looking for Pepi to hit the ground running if he joins and the striker will also be keen for the same as he prepares for the World Cup this summer.

Fulham boss Marco Silva rages at 'horrendous' referee after Man Utd defeat
Fulham suffered a dramatic, late defeat at Manchester United on Sunday and manager Marco Silva has vented his frustration at referee John Brooks.

It was a thrilling second half at Old Trafford as the visitors bounced back from two goals behind, only to be denied at the death.

Casemiro and Matheus Cunha had given the Red Devils a 2-0 lead and it looked like Michael Carrick's men were going to cruise to a comfortable victory.

However, Raul Jimenez won and converted a penalty on 85 minutes before Kevin curled in a stunning equaliser in the first minute of injury time.

The joy of the travelling fans was short-lived, though, as Benjamin Sesko hammered in a winner for Manchester United even deeper into stoppage time, securing a memorable 3-2 victory for the Red Devils.

Silva was delighted with the efforts of his players, but not with the performance of the referee on Sunday afternoon.

After the game the Fulham boss was still seething about a penalty awarded to Manchester United in the first half by Brooks, which was overturned by VAR, but Silva said was a 'horrendous terrible' call.

'Top performance from ourselves. Second half, our team was better,' Silva told Sky Sports. 'The way we played and controlled the ball, they wanted to press us high but we never let them.

'They scored when we switched off but we kept going and scored a goal that was disallowed. It is what it is. Difficult but we have to accept it.

'The story of the game started with a horrendous terrible decision from John Brooks with the penalty he gave. Horrendous decision from that moment, big, big mistake. It was the first time we saw all the Premier League fans and us coaches and players. We have to take all this frustration to win the next one.'

Manchester United were awarded a free-kick from the situation, with a foul adjudged to have taken place outside the box, and they scored their first from that free-kick.

On the decision, Silva said: 'The penalty was given by the tackle. After, because the decision was so bad, they found a different foul.

'I feel my players, I feel our fans but we have to respect and the people in charge. I know why the penalty was given. VAR went in a completely different direction to find something to find a free-kick that was not the reason why the penalty was given.'

Asked if he had spoken to the referee after the game, Silva said: 'I don't want get more cards because I want to be on the touchline. I don't want to speak more.'

There was no such frustration in the Manchester United camp, with match-winner Sesko thrilled to make the difference after coming off the bench.

The summer-signing has not started a match under Carrick yet, but showed his value to the team with the crisp late finish.

'That was unbelievable,' he told Sky Sports. 'Scoring at home and scoring the winner is unbelievable.

'I've been dreaming about that and dreaming that I can do that. We all know as a team how important these results are.

'We are on a really great run right now and we are just hoping that we can continue to work hard like that to win games. I'm really happy that I could help the team out. We can continue our streak now.'

Carrick added: 'I'm just so delighted for him. He totally deserves it.

'It's a huge moment for all of us but for him especially. He deserves it. He's been fantastic since I came here. He'll remember that feeling for quite some time.'

Marco Silva blasts referee after controversial VAR decision helps Man Utd win
Referee John Brooks found himself in the crosshairs from Fulham manager Marco Silva after his side lost 3-2 against Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday

Fulham manager Marco Silva was furious with the officials after his side slipped to a dramatic late defeat against Manchester United. Benjamin Sesko scored an injury-time winner for United after Fulham had fought back from 2-0 down in a gripping finale at Old Trafford.

Goals from Casemiro and Matheus Cunha had United 2-0 up and cruising on Sunday afternoon before Silva's side roared back. Raul Jimenez netted from the penalty spot after Harry Maguire's foul before Kevin curled a stunning finish into the top corner to equalise in the 91st minute.

However, United went straight up the other end, with Bruno Fernandes picking out Sesko to score on the swivel in the box. His goal ensured United continued their 100 per cent record under Michael Carrick's management, but left Silva raging.

United's opening goal came from a free-kick that was awarded following consultation from VAR. Initially referee John Brooks had awarded United a penalty for Jorge Cuenca's challenge on Cunha in the box.

But VAR replays showed Cuenca had got the ball. Yet rather than overturn the penalty, Brooks changed his call to a free-kick outside the box because Cuenca had pulled Cunha's shirt. Fernandes curled a cross in and Casemiro planted a powerful header past Bernd Leno to open the scoring, with Silva subsequently receiving a yellow card for his protestations.

"The story of the game started with a horrendous terrible decision from John Brooks with the penalty he gave," Silva raged to Sky Sports. "Horrendous decision from that moment, big, big mistake. It was the first time we saw all the Premier League fans and us coaches and players. We have to take all this frustration to win the next one."

He added: "The penalty was given by the tackle. After, because the decision was so bad, they found a different foul.

"I feel my players, I feel our fans but we have to respect and the people in charge. I know why the penalty was given. VAR went in a completely different direction to find something to find a free-kick that was not the reason why the penalty was given."

Asked if he had spoken to Brooks, Silva replied: "I don't want get more cards because I want to be on the touchline. I don't want to speak more."

There was further involvement from VAR in the game, with the officials at Stockley Park intervening to rule out Cuenca's goal in the second half which would have made it 2-1. The Fulham defender scored after two deflected shots, only for Samuel Chukwueze to have been found to be marginally offside.

One decision did go in Fulham's favour, however, with Jimenez awarded a penalty after Maguire took him out while trying to block his shot. His cool effort from the spot got the away side back into the match, but ultimately counted for little.

Furious Fulham boss Marco Silva blasts 'horrendous' VAR decision after Man United's late 3-2 win: 'It's the first time this season we've seen that'
Marco Silva slammed what he felt was an unprecedented VAR decision to award Manchester United a free-kick leading to their opening goal during Fulham's 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford.

Referee John Brooks blew for a penalty after Jorge Cuenca's sliding challenge on Matheus Cunha. Replays showed the defender got the ball but, rather than allow play to carry on with a corner, Brooks announced that a free-kick would be awarded for a shirt-pull outside the area. Bruno Fernandes then crossed for Casemiro to head home.

Silva's suspicion was that the penalty was given for the foul, not the shirt-pull, and the timing of the referee's whistle appeared to support his belief.

'It was a bad, bad, bad decision by John Brooks,' said Silva. 'It was clear the penalty was given (for the foul). After, came a completely different decision. It's the first time this season we've seen that.

'It was a horrendous decision. The penalty was given by the tackle. After, because the decision was so bad, they found a different foul. I feel my players. I feel our fans, but we have to respect the people in charge. I know why the penalty was given.

'VAR went in a completely different direction to find something to find a free-kick, but that was not the reason why the penalty was given.'

Fulham thought they had rescued a point when Kevin struck to make it 2-2 in the 91st minute, only for Benjamin Sesko to fire a winner three minutes later.

United boss Michael Carrick said: 'It was a huge moment. The reception he (Sesko) got when he came back into the changing-room told us everything. Everyone was so pleased for him.'

Fulham boss Marco Silva faces potential FA ban after 'terrible' refereeing comments vs Man United
Fulham manager Marco Silva is once again in hot water with the FA after a scathing post-match interview following his side's narrow 3-2 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Silva, visibly incensed by the officiating during the five-goal thriller, faces a potential touchline ban for comments that questioned the integrity of referee John Brooks and the VAR team.

The controversy stems from an early first-half incident where a penalty for Manchester United was initially awarded for a challenge by Jorge Cuenca on Matheus Cunha.

Following a VAR review, the decision was downgraded to a free-kick just outside the area, but Silva was left furious by the logic behind the intervention and the original call.

Marco Silva calls out 'terrible' refereeing
Speaking to the BBC after the final whistle, Marco Silva did not hold back, labeling the decision-making process as fundamentally flawed.

"The game started with a terrible decision from John Brooks, a completely bad decision from him," Silva fumed.

"It was a clear, simple tackle on the ball. I understand VAR are now saying different things but the penalty was given for the tackle. Nobody is going to give a penalty for a pull."

Silva further suggested that the match was effectively "re-refereed" by the officials in the VAR hub, claiming that the explanation provided by the fourth official during the match contradicted the eventual outcome.

"It is my feeling definitely [that the game was re-refereed]. First of all, a terrible decision on a clear and simple tackle. The feedback from the fourth official was that the referee would come to the screen. Probably it is the first time it was given and the decision was overturned by VAR."

Silva has been punished multiple times by the FA in the past
The FA is expected to review Silva's comments under Rule E3, which prohibits managers from implying bias or questioning the integrity of match officials.

Unfortunately for the Fulham boss, his extensive history of disciplinary issues may lead to a more severe sanction.

In March 2023, he was handed a two-game ban and a fine after being charged with misconduct for comments he made following his side's FA Cup defeat at Manchester United.

In Decemeber 2023, he was handed a fine and a warning for his post-match comments regarding officials after the match against Newcastle United in December 2023.

Silva's latest "terrible decision" remarks could see him forced into the stands for Fulham's upcoming fixtures.

The bold but necessary Fulham and Newcastle United swap deal involving 'brilliant' Leeds United target
Fulham have the opportunity to freshen up their ranks before the end of the January transfer window

Fulham have until the deadline at 7pm on Monday evening to freshen up their ranks with some additions. They also have the chance to let some players leave if needed. That would help free up space and funds to pave the way for reinforcements.

Marco Silva has been their head coach since joining back in 2021. He has since done an impressive job at Craven Cottage and has helped the Whites establish themselves in the Premier League. Prior to his move, he had spells with the likes of Hull City, Watford and Everton.

Fulham linked with Joe Willock swoop
Fulham have seen a £20million bid for Joe Willock rejected by Newcastle United, as per a report by talkSPORT. He is out of contract in June 2027 but has seen his game time dry up in the North East. His future is up in the air with the Magpies at this moment in time.

Willock, 26, has been with the Toon Army since joining them on an initial loan deal back in 2021 that was later made permanent. Prior to his move, he rose up through the academy at Arsenal. He was a regular for the Gunners at various different youth levels before scoring 11 goals in 78 games in all competitions.

The ex-England youth international has played 149 matches for Newcastle to date and has found the net on 11 occasions. However, they have a big decision to make on his situation amid attention from Fulham. He would inject more quality into the Whites' midfield department.

Fulham could propose Harry Wilson swap deal
Harry Wilson sees his deal at Fulham expire at the end of this campaign. They risk losing him for free if they don't sell him now. Therefore, they should consider using him as part of a swap deal to land Willock.

Wilson has been linked with the likes of Leeds United and Everton over recent times. It would be a massive blow to the Whites if he left this winter. However, there seems to be an air of inevitability that he will head out the exit door soon.

The Wales international would be ideal for Newcastle if they brought him in. He would give them more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch. In addition, he would give them something different to call upon on the flank.

Wilson has enjoyed a new lease of life under the guidance of Silva over recent times. He has established himself as one of Fulham's most prized assets and his left foot has been causing real problems to opposition defenders. The ex-Liverpool man has nine goals this term.

Silva has recently said: "We are in the fight, we are trying to keep him. If you ask me if it's going to be easy, I say it's not going to be easy. The more he scores, many more clubs are going to be around him. This is football business. When a player goes to the end of his contract, this kind of thing is going to happen. I know he's happy in our club and how much he's enjoying the moment. It's up to the club to do the maximum to keep him."

He added: "He's been brilliant for us. He's on a great run but it's from the first day of the season. He's been able to take the responsibility on his back, to be decisive."

The Wrexham-born man may want to test himself in new surroundings now though which is a shame for the Whites. At the age of 28, he is coming into his prime years and is maturing as a player. Newcastle would be able to offer him European football which is something that may turn his head. If they are to launch an offer for him though, they would need to see off strong competition from elsewhere.

For Fulham, they are likely to lose him on a free transfer this summer and sanctioning a swap deal this month to get Willock could feel like a necessary but bold decision.

Fulham 'trying to do something' before transfer window closes – Silva
Fulham hope to make more signings ahead of Monday's transfer deadline, Marco Silva says.

Whites boss Silva welcomed the recent arrival of winger Oscar Bobb from Manchester City and is keen to further strengthen the squad.

Silva said: "Of course we are trying to do something. We are going to, (or) if not, this group of players have been showing incredible quality, commitment and attitude."

Silva was speaking after his side's dramatic 3-2 defeat at Manchester United.

He was left bemused at the referee John Brook's decisions in the lead up to United's first goal.

After a penalty was initially given to the hosts, Brooks was advised by VAR to change his decision and give them a free-kick.

Silva said: "The penalty was given and (it was) a bad, bad, bad decision from John Brooks.

"The penalty was given by the tackle from (Jorge) Cuenca on the ball. Clearly, the penalty was given for that.

"The pull that they found after, the pull was three, four seconds before, the penalty was given by that moment.

"It was not a penalty from that tackle. Afterwards came a completely different decision and they gave a free-kick for a pull.

"It's the first time this season that the penalty was given by one accident and it was decided by a completely different accident. And they gave a free-kick.

"It's the first time that we have seen this all season, last season, two seasons ago."

Brede Hangeland says Oscar Bobb had fears of Fulham transfer
Former Fulham player Brede Hangeland has emerged as a natural figure for Oscar Bobb to speak with ahead of completing his move to the club, although no such conversation took place before the transfer was finalised. Bobb had been close to leaving Manchester City when Fulham expressed interest, and the deal was completed in time for him to begin the next chapter of his career.

The attacker had been one of the standout players at Manchester City, but the arrival of stronger competition this season reduced his opportunities for regular game time. As a result, a move away became the best option, allowing him to continue his development at Fulham, a club where he is expected to play a more prominent role.

Decision to leave Manchester City
Bobb's departure marks a significant change after his spell at City, where his performances had earned praise despite limited chances. Fulham's interest provided a clear pathway to consistent football, something that had become harder to achieve at his former club. The move also places him at a side looking to strengthen its attacking options, offering him both responsibility and visibility.

Hangeland spent six years at Fulham between 2008 and 2014, making him an obvious point of contact for a player preparing to join the club. In addition, Sander Berge remains part of the Fulham squad, giving Bobb multiple familiar figures who understand the environment he was entering. Despite this, the attacker chose not to inform either of them while negotiations were ongoing.

Hangeland explains lack of contact
Hangeland has since explained why there was no communication prior to the deal being completed. Speaking according to TV2, he revealed that Bobb was reluctant to speak openly until everything was finalised. He said, "It (communication) has been non-existent. I wrote a few text messages to Oscar when this became clear. He then replied that he had not dared to inform either me or Sander about it, since he was afraid that it would not work out. But he was very happy when things went the right way".

The explanation highlights Bobb's caution during a sensitive period of his career. With the move now confirmed, he can focus fully on settling at Fulham and establishing himself as a key player in the Premier League.

Raheem Sterling could seek Saudi move amid Crystal Palace, Fulham, West Ham United links
Raheem Sterling could explore a move to Saudi Arabia if interest from the Middle East intensifies amid Premier League interest in the £50 million Chelsea flop.

According to Football Insider, Raheem Sterling could explore a move to Saudi Arabia if interest from the Middle East intensifies in the coming days. The winger is a free agent since leaving Chelsea by mutual consent, could make a move to the Saudi Pro League, but there's ample interest from Premier League clubs.

Raheem Sterling left Chelsea on mutual consent this month and has a decision to make on his future. The £50 million Chelsea flop is considering his options but wants to take a call based on what is best for his next career move as well as for his family.

Sterling has plenty of options within the Premier League, with Leeds United and Fulham some of the rearly runners in the race. The £50 million Chelsea flop also has Crystal Palace in the race, while Tottenham are also interested in the winger.

West Ham United are also in the mix, but their recent signing of Adama Traore might cool their interest. The same might be said about Fulham, who have ruled out a move following the capture of Oscar Bobb from Manchester City.

Sterling does have these options to consider, including Palace, but they too might look away following the loan signing of Evann Guessand. However, each of those clubs could still consider a move for the experienced winger, but he may have other options, such as some in the Middle East.

Raheem Sterling to Saudi Arabia?
The Saudi Pro League clubs are increasingly looking at the Premier League for options, and could see Sterling as a viable alternative to some of their top attacking targets. The £50 million Chelsea flop's ready availability and the prospect of agreeing a quickfire deal could tempt the Middle Eastern sides into approaching.

For now, Sterling has not decided on the next steps for his immediate career. He might evaluate his options thoroughly, as some reports stated he could prefer a stay in London if a viable offer comes around. However, from a financial standpoint, the Saudi clubs could potentially offer him the sense of financial security he had at Chelsea, which might sway his decision towards the Middle East over his Premier League suitors.

Just in: Fabrizio Romano says Fulham have agreed £32m deal ahead of Everton, personal terms done
Fulham are poised to complete a late signing ahead of their Premier League meeting with Everton next weekend

Marco Silva would not have been the only person inside Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon to think his Fulham side had snatched a point against Manchester United.

The visitors were 2-0 down when Raul Jimenez converted from the penalty spot on 85 minutes. The stunning comeback was swiftly completed when Kevin rifled in a beauty of an equaliser to stun the home crowd on 91 minutes.

However, Fulham's lead lasted just three minutes as Benjamin Sesko fired the Red Devils back in front as Fulham left Manchester with nothing to show for their efforts.

Silva could be cheered up soon, though, as Fulham are reportedly closing in on a late transfer deal ahead of Monday's 7pm deadline.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that a £32m deal has been agreed to sign Ricardo Pepi from PSV Eindhoven. He said on X: "Fulham have agreed €37m package with PSV Eindhoven for Ricardo Pepi! All agreed also on personal terms.

"Final step needed: PSV looking for replacement on the market."

With deadline day falling on a Monday, the Cottagers will have Pepi on board in plenty of time before their next fixture. They host Everton at Craven Cottage on Saturday before travelling to Manchester City a few days later.

Pepi, 23, has been with PSV since 2023 having first moved to Europe with German side FC Augsburg in 2022. He hails from the United States and started his career with FC Dallas.

He has made 15 appearances for PSV this season in the Eredivisie, scoring eight goals. He has made a total of 90 appearances for the Dutch club with 37 goals and eight assists and can add some firepower to the Fulham ranks for the remainder of the campaign.
