Thoughts on engagement and “rewards”

Hey everyone,

Was watching some of the match vibes and got me thinking about how some sites give "levels" or rewards to players. Kind of like mini-goals or challenges through a season.
Have you noticed that some fans or players get more motivated when there's little challenges to hit (like following stats, guessing scores, or just taking part in events)? Feels like it makes things more lively, but not sure if it actually keeps people engaged all season.
Curious what you lot reckon.

MacDonald gave everyone in the team a goal target for the 1981-2 or 1982-3 season. The strikers (Ivor and Dixie) were supposed to go for something like 20 each, while Roger Brown had about six as his target and the full backs were on two or three. The goalies had a certain number of clean sheets to keep. They got a bonus when they hit their target.
It was certainly a free-scoring season, lots of 4-2 score lines I seem to recall (no doubt the stattos will prove me wrong) and we got promoted, so it might be an idea to motivate players.
Any fool can criticise, condemn and complain, and most fools do.
