25 years ago this week

Posting this a couple of days early as I may not be able to post on Saturday.

It's hard to believe that it was 25 years ago (Wednesday 11 April 2001) that we pulled off one of our greatest away victories: a 2-1 win at Blackburn, where we played the entire second half with 10 men. Sean Davis of course got the winner in added time after a superb counter attack involving Lee Clark, Bjarne Goldbaek and (of course) Sean Davis.

This remains one of my most memorable Fulham games, partly I guess because of the context (win and we were pretty much guaranteed the title plus the terrific backs against the wall performance), partly because we went behind so early but mainly because of the unbridled celebration when the goal went in. Me and my mate Paul (RIP) both went over the seats in front of us. A wonderful night.

After the game, walking back to the car, I overheard two Blackburn fans talking. One said "they only won tonight because of Al Fayed's millions" (conveniently forgetting that Jack Walker had shovelled oodles of cash into Blackburn).

Anyway a great night. Enjoy the video. "Unbelievably they have done it" said the commentator......truly unbelievable.

A fabulous game,  as I recall we had a man (Barry Hayles?) sent off, we went behind but Brad Friedel dropped the ball in front of Louis Saha to gift us an equaliser and, as you say, that crazy very late breakaway winner.  One of those long distance away games when one floats home.

I think it was Rufus Brevitt who was sent off. I still have a VHS tape of that match. I also recall that at the end of the transmission they played out to a phenomenal piece of rock music. I have never managed what that was called. What a great night that was.

What a game that was. Was in the Arab Boy pub in putney with a few Fulham fans.
Gutted to have not gone to it, but I was pushing things with my soon to be wife at that point (with all the Fulham games)!

The Arab Boy.....dreadful Watneys beer (if you can even call ot beer).  I used to live round the corner, plenty of decent pubs to go to with decent real beer.  Youngs for me, Dukes head down by the river, many a good evening in there.

I remember it well after all the 'tosh' Souness was talking about them being the better side. I was also impressed with Tigana's coaching that night. He spelled out, in no uncertain terms, to Saha that he was not making himself avalable in central areas with Rufus gone. Saha moved into zones where he could be first receiver and the rest is history.....great night

Wasn't picky on beer, more on who was showing the game.

I'm glad you mentioned  Allan Neilson. He had his best game for the club that very famous night.
