Are you for real? He's managed one Brazilian club for two years and doesn't even have a UEFA licence. What are we playing at?

He also was their youth coach, and has won at every opportunity he's had..

Flamengo:
FIFA Challenger Cup: 2025
FIFA Derby of the Americas: 2025
Copa Libertadores: 2025
Campeonato Brasileiro Série A: 2025
Copa do Brasil: 2024
Supercopa do Brasil: 2025
Campeonato Carioca: 2025

Flamengo U20
Under-20 Intercontinental Cup: 2024

Flamengo U17
Copa Rio U-17: 2024

Individual:
Copa do Brasil Best Head Coach: 2024
Campeonato Carioca Best Head Coach: 2025
Troféu Mesa Redonda Coach of the Year: 2025
South American Coach of the Year: 2025

Across those 3 jobs; 65% overall win percentage.

140 Games Managed, 91 Wins, 26 Draws, 23 Losses

Given the Brazil connections and more appetite to shop in that market, it feels like a really good move. He's probably one of the most exciting young coaches that are available.

Any hire would be a risk, but Brazillian exports to the Prem have been much better in recent years and the quality of that league has got very good.

His Flamengo sides were also quicker in transition, more attacking and dynamic - something a lot of the threads here wished Silva did.

Does anyone know why he was sacked by Flamenco?

He won several major trophies in Brazil so that can hardly be sniffed at. And besides, look at Glasner & Iraola as two foreign examples of coming into the PL and doing well having not really had stand out managerial careers to date. Glasner had won 1 trophy at Frankfurt but left early because their league form wasn't brilliant and Iraola none at all

He was interested in the Strasbourg job I think so they sacked him for entertaining the idea of leaving them

Thought it was the discussion for the Chelsea role, rather than the Strasbourg role but guess same ownership.

Sacked after an 8-0 win mind

This is my recollection too - I remember listening to a few football podcasts at the time.

I seem to recall that when Luis was speaking to Blueco he was only interested in the Chelsea gig

I definitely do wish we were quicker with the ball. What's the competitiveness of the Brazilian league like? But that's probably a very good win rate in any league. What I would like is if we bought Brazilians to be in our youth squad so they become eligible for the home grown rule.

That's true, never heard of Iraola before Bournemouth but at least I've heard of a Felipe Luis before. I'm trying to figure out if this is a huge risk, maybe lessened by the fact there's a few Brazilians in the squad already.

I wonder who is at the bottom of the list?

Brazilian league has improved massively and a lot of their exports very rarely need time to embed themselves to the pace of play in other major competitions now.

It should also be said that his Flamengo side beat Chelsea at the start of the season 3-1 in the Club World Cup.

Neutral Zone Ultra

Of the options available he's my preferred choice (even if he's ex blue scum).

So did we 🤭

Well at least we may get more of the academy coming through if he joins.

Anyone remember Will Still came with a fantastic reputation also didn't have any coaching Qualifications how long did he last at Southampton.  How we can appoint a coach with no UEFA licence is ridiculous.  Only one man for the job Jurgen Klopp

I'd be all over this.Id never heard of De Zerbi, Iraola or Hurzeler before they came to England and none of those had a massive pedigree. Look what they've done. I don't subscribe to the "be careful what you wish for" way of thinking . I love Marco but I feel he's maybe run his course with us
Luis knows the premier league from his time at Chelsea also was listening to South American football expert Tim Vickery on Talksport a couple of weeks ago. He said he would be a very good appointment for any European club

Great idea, why don't we ask Pep if he'd like a new challenge as well while we're at it, or maybe we could get Fergie out of retirement?

@jolslover

I've read he's very highly rated and is one of the most in demand up and coming coaches.. would be an exciting appointment but perhaps a bit of a gamble

If he can get munis to be a good player he probably would be the best coach in the world as specially if can get Anderson to run and the goalkeeper to come off his line we're almost winning the champions league I don't think this rumour has legs just like Anderson.
