Toss up between Robinson & Bassey! Worryingly both of these are defenders against the bottom team! Might sum this performance up in all honesty. So many abject performances especially from the midfield and forwards difficult to know where to start.

Neutral Zone Ultra

Iraola - closure over his future, Bournemouth finishing strongly.

Glasner - closure over his future, Palace in a European final.

Silva - same old will he won't he nonsense for half a year, Fulham on the beach.

Unless Chelsea win both of their last two games or Brentford win against Liverpool at Anfield, and I can't see either of those things happening, a win against Newcastle would have been enough for Europe had we won today. Such a missed opportunity. You can't miss chances like the ones Iwobi and Berge missed.

We weren't at our best but we've created 2 sitters for our players and also had a penalty on top of that. That was more than enough to get a win, but annoyingly we took one of those 3 chances.

Silva 's indecision with not making his mind up about staying or going has cost us these last 6 games,
Ridiculous team choice today as well.
ESR really just look at his stats

The Old Count

Bassey for me.
We were pretty poor. Relegation next season if we're not careful.

Meh
Went with Bassey.
Castagne had a good first half.

As long as we dump Silva we will be ok

Quote from: love4ffc on May 17, 2026, 04:57:34 PMI went with Robinson as he looked half decent and did great with the penalty.  A lot of players really did look like they couldn't be bothered.
He was at serious fault for their goal.

I'd have to look at it again, but I thought Robinson was fouled in his recovery from the slip. Looked like the attacker was holding onto Robinsons arm for dear life.

And of course one of those sitters was missed by none other than the teacher's favourite student, Iwobi. The only way he gets dropped is by being injured...

Bassey for me, thought we lost our way and our shape when Berge went off. Should have replaced him with Cairney to control things. Everything rushed second half.

He most certainly was not. And there were a couple of other occasions where he got beat far too easily. Nice penalty but not a very good day for him on the defensive end.

Full time was MoM for me, followed by Bassey who has had a good second half of the season.

Big problem when your RB is your biggest goal threat.

Bassey was my MotM.

I felt taking off Berge for Kevin was a mistake. In the second half, we lost cohesion as a team, and looked lightweight in midfield and vulnerable defensively, while having too many flair players on the pitch unsure of the team structure and getting in each other's way, so none of them made a telling contribution. If Silva wanted Kevin on, it should have been more of a like for like substitution, with Bobb going off.

I am content with all four of our central defenders in the squad and don't want any of them to leave, but after the slagging off Andersen received, Diop on at least three occasions today made bad errors either being caught in possession or passing to the opposition in our own half or in our penalty area, for which we we went unpunished. I think Diop is a decent defender at this level, but it shows that players get better in the eyes of some fans when they don't play.  All defenders make mistakes, the  judgement is usually based on whether the opposition take advantage of them.

I switched off after their goal. Were we good value for our point?

Sure, but the bar Diop had to pass was don't go two-footed into a challenge while we're a man up. Which I would argue he cleared with flying colors.

There's switching off on a pass and then theres doing something boneheadedly stupid.
