I think the truth of the matter is we have our target manager/managers and are waiting to see if they will come, in the mean time we are sounding out other managers to see if they would be interested like Slot who seems to have declined. The media then says he turned down the job he wasn't even offered yet.

The thing is, at the moment it's all speculation so all the press can do is highlight the obvious candidates - the big (or at least biggish) names who are currently out of work, or who might want a step up from their current role.

Hopefully Fulham have been doing their research and will find someone who will be the right fit for us.

For what it's worth, I think there's no chance of us getting Poch. Spurs would tempt him as he feels he had unfinished business there, but other than that, he'd want to manage a genuine Premier League contender.

In world terms the US arent a big name, the only club poch has won anything at is PSG and he struggled to win elsewhere came 3rd in a 2 horse race when Leicester won the title won nothing at Spurs or Chelsea. He is isnt an elite manager that big clubs want, remember City didn't want him, Liverpool didn't want him

Agree and Man U haven't wanted him on a few occasions.

My view is that Poch generally plays attractive football and keeps a happy dressing room, but he struggles to achieve results. Even at PSG, given their resources, his achievements were considered disappointing. We'd have fantastic end-to-end 5-4 defeats with the occasional victory as we descend into the Championship with very happy players. He's the last thing we need.

Of the names in contention, I think only Frank would be an improvement on Marco Silva in terms of maintaining/improving upon our current standing. McKenna would be such a risk having had only one PL season ending in relegation. As for Lampard or Rosenior, I think that would be a massive step backwards

Most of us seem to share frustrations over the late arrival of transfers but, in defence of the owners, they appointed Marco with minimum of fuss and fairly quickly after Scott Parker left. Hopefully they have been doing the same behind-the-scenes work in recent months too

The difference is that the club didn't want Parker to stay, the hold-up was negotiating his release. They were probably already doing the groundwork on his replacement, which meant that once his departure was official, the new appointment could be confirmed quickly.

This time, the club were actively trying to keep Marco Silva, somewhat desperately if reports are to be believed. Now that he's going, the scramble begins.

My view is that the ownership are opportunistic rather than forward thinking. The approach for Slot reinforces that, given he was only let go by Liverpool a week ago. I don't think there is much of a plan behind the scenes, because if there is no way would the first approach be for a manager who was fresh out of work. It feels as though the club are looking for a glamour appointment they can sell to the fans as a coup.

I think we'll move for Amorim next, but if he also turns us down, we can't afford to wait around for Poch. There will start to be dissatisfaction among the playing group if we're not careful. If they return for pre-season with Hayden Mullins taking training and we still haven't sorted ourselves out, at that point, players may begin looking at what options they have this summer.
