TK regularly alludes to SCR and the need to save. Makes me think they wouldn't pay McKenna's release clause if it exists. Particularly as when TK suggests the field is much wider. I assume that also means there's a lot of interest in the job. I now think they will go with someone out of work - Frank, Dyche, Amorin etc.

It's a very different Fulham to when Marco joined.  We are now a club that many managers would be keen to join as apposed to in a bit of a mess.

I imagine the club have a much higher level of candidates interested and in many ways it will be more difficult to get the best person for the job.

There really is no excuse for us not getting a really top person in and if it takes a bit off a very important summer, well I guess we can thank Marco for that!

On the Ipswich website he has said he wants a break from management so that suggests it's all just paper talk or was he fibbing?

He can have a fortnight off.
Never ever bloody anything ever.

Sky just saying,he won't be taking over at Fulham or any other club in the near future.

He's been a manager for 4 yrs and now he wants a break????? Ferguson managed for 30 odd yrs, Guardiola 15 yrs if not more, yet this guy needs a break after 4???? ::scarf::

Yeah he's out of the running. If he suddenly "changes his mind" and comes to us they'll rightly take Fulham FC to court.

You don't know what his state of mind is, he might have family issues, health issues, perhaps best not to criticise until you know  his  reasons.

I assume McKenna has now realised no one will pay his release clause in this modern world of SCR. So the best way to avoid another relegation on his CV (and presumably secure a better job) is to walk away for a year.

Decent chance a lower midtable club  (perhaps even us!) takes a punt on him for 3m next summer.

One doesn't know though what's going on with him, wants time with his family, has two young children,if he's putting them above football, then so be it.

A break from the game made Marco a better manager.

Sounds very plausible to me.

Looking up the SCR rules it turns out that the manager / head coach's pay is included in SCR calculations, but assistant managers and other coaching staff are not.

These types of rules are often tested and bent. If Chelsea can sell themselves a hotel, I wonder what odds I can get on Billy the Badger being unveiled as the new gaffer, with Kieran McKenna as his assistant.
