I don't know if Bassey is the right character for captain at this stage of his career. Another year or 2 older  and more mature and maybe. But hes a bit of a jokester and still a bit young minded for me i that regard. Plays like a future captain though.

The difficulty is though there aren't many other's guaranteed to be playing every game.

Lukic feels more like a captain type if Anderson isn't on the pitch and Nwaiwu is starting. But will he be first choice by end of the window.
Otherwise it probably would make most sense for it to be an every present like Leno who's experienced, but he also doesn't seem like a super vocal captian type either.

No obvious candidates to me at this time. Unofficially it would be Tom anyway though

I'd say Tete too but issue is if/when he get's injured.

I'm not against the signing, but I'm surprised we've prioritised a CB given it's already one of our strongest positions. With our recent spending, I doubt we'll have a huge budget, so committing a significant chunk to a centre-back feels questionable. I'm also a big Diop fan and think he's playing some of the best football of his Fulham career, so I'd be disappointed if he leaves as a result. That said, the feedback from Turkey is very positive and hopefully he proves to be an excellent signing.

While he's played there he's not had a run of games there. I'd suspect this is a younger player with Joa's profile.

All his games at Trabzonspor were at CB. He is primarily a CB and isnt being signed as a Berge replacement.

Assuming we sell Diop this summer, the net spend on a CB that is 7 years younger and on about £40k a week less is ~£5m and that's before you factor in £2m savings on wages. Realistically this is the right thing to do because he will leave for free next summer and he's just had a great WC so his stock is at an all time high, so the club should be proactively looking to generate revenue from people like Diop & Castagne while they retain some value and it's something we need to get much better at, so I'm glad it looks like we're moving in that direction.

We will have a decent amount of money to spend, we've shifted some hefty wages in Raul & Adama leaving plus Diop's £70k so we're probably £300k+ in weekly wages less than we were in Jan with Wilson also now gone as well. If we bring in 5/6 players that are averaging £40k a week then we've made ourselves far better off for SCR knowing we've also got Jedi, King & Bassey that we could offload now if we needed to for decent money, but the model will likely shift to buying players aged 22/23 like Nwaiwu because if they have one decent season we'll be able to flip them for profit and reinvest

Providing there's a buyer for Diop this looks a good signing. Diop's a solid CB but he's out of contract next summer. He's not been a regular first choice CB at Fulham or at WH. A newly promoted team or a championship side might suit.

Nwaiwu would provide a better back up for Andersen, as Cuenca does to Bassey.

I think the intention here is for this guy to potentially come in and start not just be back up. He's clearly being picked as the long term successor to Anderson at 22 years old and at £25m+ I think he's probably likely to be thrown in for the first game against Chelsea. A good showing there and he might well keep his place.
