Arbeloas first day was on Monday this week, in his first interview published today it was insinuated that he'd be meeting the players for the first time from this Wednesday

Quote from: Sammyffc on July 14, 2026, 12:31:07 PMMy socials are full to the brim of other clubs pushing out training content, manager interviews ,manager arrivals, player chats. The whole thing. Some even from last week, but especially yesterday.

We have absolutely nothing. Whats going on? Its bizarre.  :slap:

Even more so that we learnt Arbeloa did training yesterday via his own Instagram story.

There is as much pre season excitement as me cooking broccoli and chicken for dinner to lose some timber  :guitar-playHDs:

He didn't say he did training yesterday, he said it was his first day. Different things.

I take full credit for the media team releasing the interview yesterday  :slap:

Today is AA's first day at Motspur. I'm sure the remaining 3 coaches know how to tell players to do some laps around the car park. Looking at previous first days, its mainly getting fitness and strength tests done anyway. I don't think a ball gets kicked in anger.

The first thing Tigana did was to get a highly renowned dentist in and check all of their teeth!!

Seems like we just...weren't really back at motspur park was all

AA travelled back from Miami
Squad doesn't arrive till today

Likely some of the media team were still on holiday knowing they'd be back at it this week

Now everyone's in the building and we'll be back to motspur park videos and interviews no doubt as of today/tomorrow. Sure someone will be tasked with the occasional player cam vlog

It's all mostly complete boring generic fluff anyway , same cookie cutter content every year on loop 🤣

Thanks but I don't need your pity. I would though like to hear some thoughts of the new manager given we've forked out again for season tickets.
try listening to his interview for a start

Quote from: KJS on July 14, 2026, 10:11:15 PMGood interview on the official

Loved it but at the end he was about what would be considered success at his time here and he did not mention European qualification. Not sure how much we should read into that.

Very little tbh.
Think its a sensible abd realist answer remaining non descript for now.
This is fulham - We are already punching above the majority of our history - but he still says he wants to build on that.

It's obviously implied that "something special" means something more than what we've achieved. i.e winning something or qualifying for europe - our owners have said this explicitly a number of times now.

But as a new manager who's just got in the door and not even met the team or knowing what he'll end up with, he's been non discript which allows him to manage the pressure and expectations he's stepping into short term, and buys him time as he settles in at the club, establishes his methods, and works with the team. If he goes - I am here to qualify for europe - he sets himself up for failure and more pressure. If, early on we're struggling and not near that, he builds even more tension on himself and the team than necessary. We all know thats the clubs perenial aspiration, they've told us as such a number of times, and it's obvious that's what any team our size is hoping for.

Personally I'm expecting a period of adjustment this season, I'd love for us to push on  and be in the european conversation, but with teams like Spurs spending hundreds of millions again,  most likely it's gonna be tough and will take a moment for AA to embed and stamp his own brand onto the club after a long tenure from Silva.

He's quitely confident, Positive but not explicit for now, I don't mind that

That's true. He's not going to be anywhere near as pressured here as in RM but let's hope that "something special" turns out to be Europe or a cup in the next three years.
