FFC women v ascot

[Claireffcw]

Fulham women return to action in the final group game of the league cup.
We face Ascot who are bottom of the group.
After gaining promotion to the fawnl south west division they have had a tough start ,losing all 5 league games & both league cup games. We played them in a preseason game in august and won 13-0 .
Our results in this competition are a 4-1 win over actonians & a 2-0 loss to qpr.
Actonians & qpr play at the same time on sunday.
Teams were initially drawn into 22 groups of four teams who played each other once (not twice), and from which the 22 group winners and 10 best runners-up advance to the Cup knockout stages. The other 12 runners-up, and 20 best third-placed teams advance to the National League Plate knockout stages. From there, both the Cup and the Plate hold four knockout rounds before the finals of each competition.
Last season we progressed to the cup knockout stage but were beaten 4-2 by Exeter who will in fact be our next league opponents on the 4th October at motspur park.

Last weeks league game against Wimbledon was postponed due to them having to replay C palace after the initial game was abandoned due to palace not having enough players on the pitch.
So while we now sit in 3rd spot in the league we have a game in hand on Oxford & Bournemouth.
Exeter sit in 5th spot with 1 win 2 draws & 2 defeats and will again prove to be tough opponents .
We've had a fantastic start with 4 wins out of 4 and had some highly entertaining games.
Octobers fixtures after Exeter are 11th Bournemouth  away ,18th Hashtag home and 28th Lewes away.
AFC Bournemouth Women  play their home fixtures at the Bob Lucas Stadium in Weymouth this season.
The midweek game against Lewes should be a special occasion as its their designated bonfire night game.
Lewes has a proud tradition of celebrating nov 5th with parades through the streets and the club embrace this in a home game nearest that date.
The Dripping Pan featuring a celebratory atmosphere with fireworks, flaming torch walks, and special matchday food and drink menus.
Our u18s kicked off their season with a 5 nil win at Dorking academy.
Else where  steve jaye has announced he and his partner are expecting their first child.
Captain Becky Stormer & ex Captain Megalie Mendes got married.

Facilities.
We're pleased to say that we've got the club to trial a burger van for 4 weeks which is great news .it may start today or at least exeter next week.
After highlighting the inadequate accessible viewing for wheelchairs the club are looking at putting in a raised platform and extra handrails in the seating areas . This will be great not just for the womens games but also the u18s & u21s. Ive joined the DSA to help push forward these and other improvements we'd like to see .
They have also been advertising for a match day announcer .

Yes a fantastic but expected victory .was all one way traffic 2 goals ruled out for off side and hit the wood work countless times. Really hard to not feel for the ascot players but they stuck with it
We finish 2nd in the group but still progress to the next round of the league cup.
Home to Exeter next sunday and im sure we'll be keen to avenge our 4-2 defeat in last years league cup comp. It will be a good barometer of how far we've come

Thanks Claire.
