Has died at the age of 86 from cancer. What a women a truly inspirational human being that helped to do so much good in her lifetime. The world is a poorer place today rest in peace.

RIP Esther, sadly for her, she never managed to get the assisted  dying bill made law, that  she wanted for herself and others.

She did  great work on behalf of abused children, with her Childline, as well as other issues - she was maybe the first to give the ordinary consumer a voice, in  programmes that balanced humour and seriousness.

Great Woman who did so much good in her life, the biggest of which was her involvement in Childline ❤️

Agree with everything already said, RIP Esther.

Going way back to the early days of That's Life most of her interviews were filmed in North End Road. My mother and grandmother regularly shopped there and sometimes watched her filming. Famously one half of my grandmother was in one recording!

Yes, in those days the North End Road market was a thriving, bustling hive of activity..
and its shoppers were the vox pop regularly asked for their views and opinion on anything by Esther and others....
Since Covid, and even before, the market has sharply declined. A couple of weeks back I saw only one fruit and veg stall there...such a shame for local people...not forgetting that so many Fulham supporters were involved in the market...
Her passing really does mak the end of an era
