Fulham 4 Crusaders 0

Any fears relating to Fulham not easing through to the third qualifying round of the Europa League were dispelled, last night, as Martin Jol presided over a comfortable 4-0 victory.

The 4-0 romp meant that Fulham took the tie 7-1 on aggregate.

The goals, last night came courtesy of Andrew Johnson (19 mins), Damien Duff (56 mins), Bobby Zamora (66 mins) and Steve Sidwell (70 mins).

Speaking about the emphatic win, Martin Jol had this to say

"I`m not sure if a game like this is more competitive than a friendly against Porto."

"Of course this was an official game, so it`s competitive."

"We started off well with good movement. There were a few sloppy spells we didn`t want."

"But it`s good we scored a few goals. Bobby scored the best of the evening."

"There was some tiredness at the end. This group has some old players which is why I`m trying to bring in some young blood."

We`re not getting carried away (yet) but does anyone know when and where the Europa League Final will be played come May 2012?

Ings - Another Chapter!

And so the Danny Ings saga goes on with another chapter added overnight.

With us reporting that cash-lade Manchester City were eyeing up the Bournemouth youngster we were reportedly interested in, another party has joined the quest to lure him away from the south coast.

Burnley are the latest to declare an interest and they may well have stolen a march on their rivals with their manager, Eddie Howe, having been the one to notice Ings undoubted talent when he was in the managerial hot-seat at Bournemouth until very recently.

But the south-coast side have shown their astuteness when it comes to business by putting a £1 million price tag on the players head.

Out of our range now methinks!

Fulham could sell starlet
Cottagers open to offers for Marsh-Brown

Skysports.com understands Fulham are willing to listen to offers for young starlet Keanu Marsh-Brown.

The highly-rated full-back initially joined Fulham from Arsenal in 2004 and progressed through the club's Academy.

The 18-year-old has yet to make a first-team appearance at Fulham, but he impressed during a loan spell at MK Dons last season.

Marsh-Brown made 19 appearances during his time at the Dons, helping them reach the League One play-off semi-finals.

Fulham were expected to loan out Marsh-Brown again this summer, but it now appears they would be willing to sell the teenager at the right price.

The news has alerted a number of clubs to Marsh-Brown's availability, with his suitors ready to make a move for the England youth international.

Steve Sidwell: Playing As Beautiful A Game As Ever At Fulham

Last night I had the pleasure of walking down to Craven Cottage to take in a Europa League qualifier, with Fulham hosting Crusaders FC. The first half saw Fulham go up 1-0 over the visiting Northern Irishmen while I stared at Mark Schwarzer and wondered why on earth anyone thought he needed an extra-tight kit (Kappa, take note: we don't need to know when the goalkeeper has a concave stomach. Thanks). But the greatest entertainment was Steve Sidwell, behaving, well, like Steve Sidwell.

When not playing for Aston Villa, Sidwell can be quite amusing to watch -- primarily because it seems that his entire aim is to avoid actually playing football. When the ball approaches, he behaves just as I did when I was seven years old. He kicks it away, as quickly as possible. Even more impressively, he almost appears to be trying actively not to score. Considering most of football is centered around trying to score more goals than the opposing team, Sidwell's approach is quite refreshing.
True to form, the special one wizard kicked off the first half by sending a ball across the face of goal, inches on the wrong side of the post. Minutes later, he succeeded in hitting the post. The £1 bet place against Sidwell scoring was looking better and better. And then, miraculously, he scored. From a corner. And he still sent the ball off the crossbar first.

Well done, Sidders. You managed to score against a semi-professional side after three failed attempts from close range. Villa miss you.

Stockdale IS Going Out on Loan!

Having debated whether he should let David Stockdale go out on loan to ensure the young keeper gets substantially more playing time, it now appears that Martin Jol has decreed that Stockdale will be going out on loan.

Speaking about the very subject, Jol gave the broadest hint, so far, that would be the case when he admitted to the media,

"He is close to moving but there`s an issue with the recall."

Our sources tell us that the most likely destination is Ipswich Town although possible loan moves to Leeds United or Swansea City shouldn`t be completely discounted.

Johnson Contract Talks!

All talk of a possible Craven Cottage exit for Andrew Johnson looks to have been just that - talk.

Rumours of a move to newly promoted Queens Park Rangers appear to have been just that with Martin Jol confirming after the 4-0 victory over Crusaders, in the Europa League that talks are in progress to ensure Johnson stays at Craven Cottage.

With a year left on his current contract, Jol has admitted,

"We are talking with him and his agent so there is no problem."

"He has two goals already, he was not satisfied with last season so hopefully we can keep him fit."

If we can keep both Johnson and Zamora fit, unlike last season, then we could finally reap the rewards of our expenditure and see the pair playing in tandem, something that has been a rarity.
