Me-ate-Live, innit??

Anyone watch this programme ????
It is amazing the amount of companies with a largish work force that survive ( and  do quite well judging from their cars) on  tracing the families of people who die without making a will, 350,000 every year in the UK.  One lady made a will leaving everything to her husbands family who was in her life to the end and looked after her, but because there was not a 2nd signature her blood relatives who had never met her and did not know about her got everything.

How many of you have made a will

I've got a vested interest because I'm a solicitor but making a Will is important and vital if you're not part of the traditional one marriage, a few kids who get on, type family.

The lady who only had one signature hadn't made a Will although no doubt she thought she had and wanted to save money by not using people who know what they're doing.

Then die and let him do the probate.

...I have made a will - I have left everything to the government - they will get it all whatever I bequeath...

My dad bought one of those DIY Will packs from WH Smith and it wasn't really all that simple to put together. I think that a lot of people buy these things thinking that they're protected, but unless the wording is put in such a way that there can be no disagreement, then the thing will be open to scrutiny and probably not legally binding.

We still used the pack, but I had to get my friend to do the wording properly as he's a solicitor. I wrote it all out myself and got my dad to sign it, I don't think he realises how much he's left to me  :dft012:

Tony, I have a trust and recommend to my clients to do the same. Having lost my mother-in-law recently, it has been a much easier process due to her agreeing to do the trust a few years before she passed, rather than just a will. I assume there is something similar in England if not exactly the same?

And always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...
(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the bright side of life...
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life...
(I mean - what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life... :drums:

I've devoted the rest of my life to allowing Messrs Fuller's of Chiswick to get their hands on all my worldly goods before HM Government gets it all and squanders it.   082.gif
