Fulham and Tottenham in tussle over keeper

Tottenham and Fulham are locked in a battle with Malaga to sign Espanyol keeper Carlos Kameni.

Tottenham have been strongly linked with a move for the 27-year-old, while Fulham were also expressing an interest in the Cameroon keeper.

But the two English clubs will have to act fast if they want to clinch his signature as reports in Spain today suggest Malaga are making moves to sign him.

Malaga have already shown they are prepared to splash the cash and will not be afraid to make a sizeable offer.

Kameni is expected to leave Espanyol in January and the Spanish club are preparing themselves for a bidding war when the transfer window re-opens.

FFC Matchday Programme

Having hit QPR for six in their last game at Craven Cottage, Martin Jol's side will be looking to bounce back from subsequent disappointment on Sunday as Everton make the trip to SW6.

The Whites have enjoyed the visit of Everton in recent seasons, with the Toffees losing eight of their 10 Premier League trips to the Cottage, and on the back of Thursday's UEFA Europa League defeat at the hands of Wisla Krakow, it's a game that Fulham will be desperate to succeed in.

Those heading to the Cottage can also get their hands on the Club's must-read matchday programme.

Sunday's edition includes insight from Manager Martin Jol and Captain Danny Murphy, an in-depth interview with Philippe Senderos, and an opportunity to win a fantastic matchday hospitality prize.

Former Fulham favourite Terry Angus takes centre stage in our Legends Column, while the Club's Kick It Out Ambassador and number two goalkeeper Neil Etheridge discusses football's cultural differences.

There's insight into the opposition's camp with Everton's Tony Hibbert, while former Toffee and England international Andy Hinchcliffe casts his expert eye over proceedings.

Young hopeful Olly Monguel is our featured bright prospect, with focus also falling on the latest action from the Development Squad and the First Team's games with QPR and Stoke City, plus news and views from in and around the Training Ground.

One lucky reader will also win two Riverside Restaurant Hospitality passes for December's home game with Bolton, courtesy of our official outdoor equipment partner Jack Wolfskin.

The official Fulham FC programme really is the essential matchday accessory and is available from various sellers on Stevenage Road from two hours before kick-off.

Latics rejected Mellor bid
Fulham reported to have offered £300,000 for versatile teenager

Oldham Athletic have confirmed the club rejected a 'tempting offer' for versatile teenager David Mellor.

The 18-year-old made his debut for the Latics at the start of this season and has now made nine appearances in total for the first team.

He has primarily been used at left-back by Oldham boss Paul Dickov, but is also capable of playing on the left of midfield.

Premier League club Fulham reportedly offered £300,000 for Mellor, but failed to tempt Oldham into selling the former Manchester United youngster.

Latics chief executive Alan Hardy did not reveal which club had made a bid for Mellor after deciding it was not the right time to accept the offer.

Hardy told the Oldham Chronicle: "It was a tempting offer, but not one we chose to accept at the time."

Squad sheets: Fulham v Everton

The season might already feel like a slog for both clubs. Fulham are fresh (or otherwise) from their 20th match, in the Europa League at Wisla Krakow on Thursday, and are groping for domestic results, while Everton are labouring under a weight of pessimism induced by stark realities. David Moyes's ability to punch his way out of a financial straitjacket is being tested yet again. His team need a tonic, after three successive league defeats; they have not suffered four on the spin since December 2005. Fulham, though, are tough to beat at home. David Hytner

Cottagers linked with La Liga swoop

Fulham have been linked with a move for out-of-favour Espanyol goalkeeper Carlos Kameni.

London rivals Tottenham are also rumoured to be interested in the 27-year-old, who has fallen down the pecking order at the Barcelona-based club.

Mark Schwarzer is the current number one at Craven Cottage but at 39 boss Martin Jol may be planning for when the Australian calls it a day.

Cameroon international Kameni, who has 60 caps for his country, has made more than 220 appearances for Espanyol since moving from French club Le Havre in 2004.

James McFadden looks unlikely to make his second Everton FC debut in Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash with Fulham at Craven Cottage as he continues to work his way back to full fitness.

McFadden rejoined the Toffees on a free transfer this week, returning to the club he left for Birmingham in 2008, but he has not played a competitive game in over a year due to a serious knee injury and his condition is being closely monitored by manager David Moyes.

Victor Anichebe remains sidelined with a groin complaint, but other than that, Moyes has a full squad to choose from.

Moyes Envies Fulham Schdeule

Everton manager David Moyes admits there will be times when Fulham feel the effects of their gruelling early season schedule - but says he'd love to be in their shoes.

Sunday's fixture against Everton will be the Cottagers' 21st of a campaign which began in June with Europa League pre-qualifiers. Sunday's fixture against the Blues will be the sixth time Martin Jol's side have played a Premier League game after a midweek fixture this term.

Moyes, who has learned to juggle domestic and European football in previous seasons, admits it can be difficult to keep the players fresh - but that it's a headache he'd be happy to have.

"It can be tough but I'd take it today if you gave it to me, I would love it to be us you were talking about playing Thursday-Sunday because here at Everton we need European football and desperately want to be back in it because we've not been involved the last couple of years now," he told evertonfc.com.

"It is awkward and it does make your job a bit more difficult but I'd rather have it than not have it.

"It can be tiring, the players psychologically will be aware of the amount of games that they've played.

"There will be games when they'll dip when you least expect and there will be other games when it doesn't look as if it's affecting them at all - it's diffiuclt but they have to do their job at Fulham and we have to do ours here."

The Blues have only won one of their 10 Premier League away games against Fulham, when a Leon Osman brace helped them to victory in May 2009 a week before the FA Cup final.

Meanwhile the Cottagers have lost just one of their last 13 top flight matches at Craven Cottage.

"I'm aware that Fulham have got a very good home record and we've always found it hard at Craven Cottage, but we'll go there and try and get all three points," said Moyes.

"Martin has come in and I'm sure tried to alter things and change things himself and move Fulham on and they've signed one or two interesting players.

"I'm sure he'll do fine because he's a very experienced coach and manager and I'm sure he'll get Fulham going in the right direction."

Blackburn Rovers rival Fulham for Ajax striker

According to reports Blackburn Rovers are interested in Ajax striker Mounir El Hamdaoui.

However, it is understood Premier League rivals Fulham are also in the hunt.

Ajax are willing to sell the Morocco international in January as he has struggled to make an impression this season.

Fulham boss Martin Jol has confirmed he wants to sign his former Tottenham forward, but will face competition from Rovers and Espanyol.

No Fulham game for Jimmy Mac

David Moyes does not expect James McFadden to play for Everton too soon. McFadden will not be considered for Sunday's clash with Fulham as he is still regaining fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a knee injury. But he is working hard in training to get back into peak condition and Moyes hopes it will not be too long before he can be unleashed.

"He has had a bad knee injury which kept him out for over a year," said the Everton manager at his pre-match press conference.

"I wouldn't be expecting to see him playing too soon but he has got his first 45 minutes of football under his belt this week for the reserves.

"He has been out for a long time but he has looked good in training and we will try to get him back quickly. Hopefully it won't be too long because we want him around the squad.

"He is here for the season and if he does well we will look at things again. This is a deal that helps both parties. He has looked good in training and he has matured."

Chelsea stopper claims he would like Tottenham Hotspur or Fulham move

Chelsea's on-loan goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has claimed that he would like to play for either Tottenham Hotspur or Fulham in the future.

Courtois, who has been identified by Chelsea as the long-term successor to Petr Cech, is currently on a year's loan with Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid.

The 19-year-old claimed that he is likely to spend a further year with Atletico before hopefully landing a temporary deal with Spurs or Fulham.

"Chelsea told me that I would spend two years in a team like Atletico. At the moment it is only one year, but if they want me for a second Chelsea are fine with that," Courtois told Onda Cero.

"After that I would then spend one more season with an English club, like Fulham or Tottenham, to allow me to adapt to the English league."

Courtois has kept five clean sheets in seven La Liga games this season.

Flop or not: Philippe Senderos

When armed with the task of putting together an article on former Gunner Philippe Senderos, it bewildered me as how despite spending 7 years in North London, 'Swiss Tony' doesn't appear to have a great deal to show for it. This is by no means a criticism of Philippe, however, as it should be stated that while he only made 64 appearances, when called upon the Swiss defender always did his job quietly and professionally.

But despite having the attitude of a player who deserved to be on the pitch week-after-week, ultimately it was down to persistent injuries and a lack of form which saw him lose his place at the club.

Loan moves to Italian giants AC Milan and Merseyside outfit Everton couldn't revive the career of a man who has and still does struggle badly with injuries and consistency. It may even come as a surprise to know that Philippe is still just 26 years of age, and with a fair few years still ahead of him, he hoping that he can find the form and the resilience which made him such a prospect in his early career.

Philippe's career hasn't been all doom and gloom, however, as during his stay in N5 he managed to earn himself over 50 international caps for a nation who even triumphed over World Champions Spain in South Africa last summer.

As far as his Arsenal career is concerned, though, Senderos never really quite lived up to the early potential he showed and eventually fell out of Arsene Wenger's first-team plans. Whatever you think about him though, Philippe is a player who fully deserves to be playing first-team football and I'm sure there isn't anyone who  could begrudge him of that.

So was Philippe 'Swiss Tony' Senderos a flop, or was he not? You decide.

Moyes wouldn't moan about Europe
David Moyes admits Everton are desperate to get back into Europe and says he would happily take on the hectic fixture schedule it entails.

The Toffees travel to Craven Cottage on Sunday to face a Fulham side who will be playing their 21st game of a season that got under way in June due to the London outfit's Europa League commitments.

Having guided Everton through continental campaigns in the past, manager Moyes knows the difficulties they present, but those are problems the Scot wants to have to deal with again.

"It can be tough, but I'd take it today if you gave it to me," said Moyes, whose team last played in Europe when they were knocked out of the Europa League at the round of 32 stage by Sporting Lisbon in February 2010.

"I'd love it to be us when we are talking about playing Thursday and then Sunday, because here at Everton we need European football.

"We want it, and it is something I think we would desperately love to get back.

"We have not been in it for the last couple of years now. Yes, it was awkward and makes things difficult and your job a bit harder, but I would rather have it than not have it."

James McFadden looks unlikely to make his second Everton 'debut' in Sunday's match as he continues to work his way back to fitness.

McFadden rejoined the Toffees on a free transfer this week, returning to the club he left for Birmingham in 2008, but he has not played a competitive game in over a year due to a serious knee injury and his condition is being closely monitored by Moyes.

"I've been on it for four or five weeks, thinking about it and talking to James," Moyes said.

"He had one or two offers where he could have gone elsewhere. I'm aware that we are a little bit short, so he has come here and hopefully will help us with numbers and on the field.

"He has probably done five or six weeks of football training and he is still recovering from his knee injury, so I wouldn't expect anybody to see him back playing too soon.

"But he got 45 minutes in a reserve game the other day and we will continue to pick it up and try to get him back quickly.

"He is here for the season and if he does well, we will have no problem re-signing him. If he doesn't we'll thank him for coming and helping us out."

Another familiar face back at Everton is former striker Duncan Ferguson - who Moyes has been keen to stress is not on the coaching staff and for now is just helping out with the club's academy - but the manager has played down talk of a move for FC Dallas defender George John.

Asked about John, Moyes said: "I don't know where that is coming from.

"We are always looking at players and to see if we can improve the squad, but it would be extremely wide of the mark to say that was a player we were looking at at the moment."

Meanwhile, Moyes has voiced his concerns about players taking part in the Great Britain team at next summer's London Olympics.

Toffees midfielder Jack Rodwell has indicated that he would relish the opportunity to be involved, but Moyes said: "I think it will be difficult because of the length of the season they have to play here.

"Players will have to come back a lot earlier from their holidays to prepare for it.

"It would be difficult with boys who have had a full season and then maybe gone to the European Championships, to ask them to come back and get ready for the Olympics as well.

"I don't think it will be straightforward. I think there will be players who will do it, but also that there will be others who don't."

Stuart Pearce, this week confirmed as head coach of the GB men's team, has expressed his hope that he will be able to select players from all the home nations, but the chances of that being the case remain unclear and it is something else Moyes envisages there being difficulties with.

"I think it could be problem," Moyes said.

"I think before any of the other home nations go into it they would need to be given assurances that it wouldn't affect their own rights in any other competition, or in how FIFA would see them."
