Unsubstantiated rumours on Twitter that he is out with a hamstring injury.

Okay, who has knobbled him for the summer? Good move, mind you, as he'll fail any medicals.  :009:

Jol issues hands-off warning for Fulham's star duo

By Wally Downes | Friday, May 11, 2012

Fulham manager Martin Jol insists Clint Dempsey and Mousa Dembele are not for sale this summer.

The duo have been linked with moves away from Craven Cottage this summer after enjoying stellar seasons.

Dempsey has been one of the players of the season after scoring 23 goals, while Dembele has blossomed since moving into central midfield from his position on the wing.

But Jol is adamant neither will be leaving this summer as they prepare to head to Tottenham on the last day knowing victory will break the club's best ever points total in the Premier League.

"We have had no bids and they are not for sale," said the Dutchman.

"Clint Dempsey is injured and will not play on Sunday. Dembele will play but he will not go.

"It is hypothetical as we have no bids for Clint or Dembele. They are some of our best players and we want them here."

Manager's Match Preview

Friday 11th May 2012

Manager Martin Jol has stated that the pressure will be off his Team as they bid to break the Club's record points tally in the Barclays Premier League against Spurs at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Fulham will however be without leading scorer Clint Dempsey this weekend, who misses out through injury, but Jol is confident his Team can end the season in winning fashion.

"I want to get the three points on Sunday," Jol told the assembled media at Motspur Park on Friday afternoon. "There's no pressure on us this weekend and hopefully we'll enjoy the game.

"We've had a good season but our final league position is not in our own hands on Sunday. The only thing which is in our own hands is to go out and get a good result against Spurs.

"We wanted to finish in the top 10 this season and we're now in a fine position. It would be marvellous to get another three points on Sunday and finish the season on 55 points.

"We're the top team in the London derby games which is a good statistic. Spurs are the only team to have beaten us and we deserved more from that game at Craven Cottage. I think we were the better team but they had four attempts on goal and scored three goals. That is efficiency and they're a very good football team."

Joining Clint Dempsey on the sidelines is midfielder Dickson Etuhu, whilst Alex Kacaniklic is also a doubt for Sunday's match at White Hart Lane.

"Clint is injured so he won't play on Sunday," confirmed Jol. "He's got a problem with his left abductor so he won't be involved.

"Dickson Etuhu also has a problem with his right knee so he won't be available. Alex Kacaniklic is a doubt as he dropped out of training on Friday with a little problem with his hamstring."

1) I hope you're right
2) I hope he's not just saying the right thing

be interesting where the goals are going to come from this weekend...  Hope Dembele gets one!!!

though more importantly, no Scott Parker so Mousa should have a pretty much free run at their defence

Think you'll find Sandro will be playing, one of the most athletic and technically gifted defensive midfielders in the league at the moment. His last two performances have been sensational, Moussa will have a big task getting past him before he reaches their back line.

Ordar

I have 2 thoughts about this:

1) Dempsey is leaving.
2) We might actually play with some width! I'd play Frei on the RIGHT, as they're doing to have a makeshift leftback playing (unless they drop Bale back)

It looks as if the injury is genuine.

But it won't stop some sides making a pitch for his services...

It comes down to whether he wants to be a benchwarmer at a Big 4 club, or a guaranteed starter for us.

what? what? Are you seriously implying that Mr. Jol might be lying to the press? Prepare yourself for the onslaught of Jol defenders!

(this isnt aimed personally at you Burt)

Of course the injury is genuine!

What would we possibly gain from benching him? He gives us a better chance of winning the game when played.

Its not like leaving him out of one match would make everyone forget about him, he has been great all season. Any manager who forgets this fact because he missed one game would have to be one of the biggest idiots ever.

Bassey the warrior

Disappointing news. Will give us some insight into whether we can cope without him.

I'll join the skeptic club and think the injury is fabricated. Terms have been agreed and the buying club doesn't want him to sustain a serious injury in the last match...though I hope he is injured (strange saying that)

US National team has 3 friendlies coming up this month against Scotland, Brazil, and Canada and a world cup qualifier on June 8--so Sunday is not his "last match" by any means.  Besides, Deuce don't roll like that.  He wants to be on the pitch no matter what.  He's injured all right.

Here comes the first. The poor guy is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. I've lost count of the times he has been criticised on here for being too honest with the media.  086.gif  :015:
