Will we ever finish above the dark side again?

Below is the final table for the 1982-1983 season. Fulham missed out on promotion because of a tight Chairman and a pitch invasion at Derby. the dark side avoided dropping down to the third division by the skin of their teeth. That, my friends, was the last time we finished above them in the league. :016:

My question is, can this conceivably happen again? Or are we destined to always be lower than that lot?

Once Abramovich has been assasinated/locked up/lost his UK residency then yes.

Football's a funny old game. Look at Cambridge - mid table in division 2, now doing fairly poorly in the conference. Chelsea, on the other hand, have had a fairly enjoyable time since then I should imagine (as have we, rock bottom period aside, to be fair). Guess it just goes to show that you don't know what's round the corner, enjoy it while you've got it and all that.

Looking at that table depresses me and yet it is classed as a good season, what could  have been, what could have been.

As for the dark side the only way we will finish above them is if they go bankrupt and do a Leeds.

We can all hope and dream of that happening!  :54:
Fulham for life!

Peabody

Never mind The Dark Side, what about the other "big" side in West London?

SuffolkWhite

Your right Peabody there's only one team in Fulham that is in Europe still  :011:

Teabag

If I remember rightly we drew with them twice that year. If only we had beaten them......

Exactly! I spotted the Bitters at the top and nearly chucked up my breakfast!

Think we did Teabag...0-0 at the Bridge from memory in a dire game...1-1 at the Cottage?....a win at CC would have done it....Deano's drought..no buying Thomas...Ernie's reluctance to spend or McDonalds stubborness...I know not the answers....but going back to the post we were the second best team in West London for a season and Chelsea were the third!

Remember John Reeves coming on as a sub at the Loftus Road encounter...always thought he was gonna be a player...never panned out.

Fulham for the cup

Cor i rember that season very well. Ray Lew equalising against the bitters at the cottage, it went right off at Hammersmith Broadway after, actually it went right off at laugharsev rd as well. i still remenber seeing Selwyn up the Loft though didn't see no fights up there. We smashed Wolves at thier gaff, Got run silly after. Great football and as a 14/15 year old the fights after nearly every game were great fun. This is of course not the current view of Fat Fred (but if your a young un , get in there).
