American coverage of Wimbledon (and other sports) drives me NUTS.

They keep jumping around from game to game....add the adverts. Crazy.

Seriuosly, it is almost impossible to watch when they don't stay with one game. When you get into a game, beginning to enjoy it.....at change of ends, pop out to get a cup of tea....return and it is A DIFFERENT match. aaaaaarrgggg :014:

Shame because we have blanket coverage and tend to stick with the matches or can choose via the Web to go to another match. Not what it was but I still enjoy Wimbledon.

DIRECTV has a sports mix for all the matches I believe.

Great night watching the football  and turning over and seeing Nadal beaten by a chap placed 100 in five sets. Great game. Great match.

I started watching Nadal, then it switched to a women's match fp.gif but the football was about to begin so tennis was trumped.

At the end of the fourth set they closed the roof which meant there was 40 minute delay. Which allowed me to watch the whole second half without any swapping over. Then turn over and watch the whole fifth set (well nearly) You see they are very decent over here.  :005:

AND THEY DON'T EVER STFU!!!!!!!!!!!!

I long for the guy who used to do Wimbledon for the Beeb. There was this 40 or 50 stroke rally with about 6 or 7 amazing gets and the announcer said nothing but "my word" and that was AFTER the rally.

American announcers were all vaccinated with a phonograph needle. *

Dan Maskell - he of "Oh I say!" fame.

In those days BBC had some great commentators:

Dan Maskell - Tennis
John Arlott - Cricket
Bill McLaren - Rugby Union
Murray Walker - Motor Racing
Henry Longhurst - Golf
Kenneth Wolstenholme - Football
Eddie Waring - Rugby League
Harry Carpenter - Boxing (personally preferred Reg Gutteridge myself)
Kent Walton - Wrestling
