Don't understand the hate for Murray whatsoever.

I think it stems from an interview early in his career where he stated he was Scottish, not British

Actually, when asked if he was rooting for England in the World Cup, he said, "I'm a Scot. I don't support England." That got translated over on this site and others as Murray hates England, and cause a buttload of approbrium [great band name, that]. It was the only thing I consistenly disagreed with the Late Lamented Mr. Finn about.

First it was tobacco, now its ribs, good Lord, is there anything you Americans won't smoke?

I am afraid the roof has beaten Andy

Mitch

I'm English, I don't support Scot's.

Burt

Bless him... Tough interview to do after that. Tears and all. He will be back.

Lighthouse

Once that second set swung suddenly to Federer it was over. Murray never found his service after that but Federer was still forced to pull out unbelievable tennis. Great game to watch and frankly if a Brit has to lose than lose to the very best playing his very best. Great win for Federer and some good after match interviews by both.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Airfix

Bugger.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.  Come back stronger next time Andy!

(Well played, though, Federer.  Grmpfh!)

Do Itake it then that if you were around in Graham Leggetts days, you would'nt have supported him?

I support Fulham and whoever plays for Fulham. Andy Murray competes for himself and he is a Scot, so why would I as an Englishman support him?

cebu

I'm just wondering whether Murray's failure to break Federer's serve late in the second set was the turning point of the game.

Burt

That was a golden opportunity, no doubt about it.

I didn't think he was serving that well - he missed a high proportion of first serves and his second serves were too predictable. That wouldn't have helped.
