Fulham 'make £5m bid' for Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone
Cottagers hopeful of signing the midfielder before the close of the transfer window according to reports

Fulham have lodged a £5m bid with Tottenham for Tom Huddlestone according to reports.

The Daily Mail claim that Fulham have prioritised a move for the midfielder and are confident of securing Huddlestone's services before the close of the transfer window on Thursday.

The Cottagers have been linked with the 26-year-old throughout the window and it would now appear that interest has been firmed up with a serious offer.

Reports earlier this month suggested Tottenham valued Huddlestone at £7m, however a bid of £5m may be too good to turn down for a player who had been told he could leave earlier this month.

The former Nottingham Forest player, who has been at White Hart Lane since 2005 and has four England caps, has struggled to hold down a place in Spurs' midfield in recent seasons.

Injuries at Tottenham looked like they could scupper a deal, but the early arrival of Lewis Holtby from Schalke has made Andre Villas-Boas more open to selling.

Fulham are also understood to be in advanced talks about signing AC Milan midfielder Urby Emanuelson on loan. The 26-year-old Netherlands international can play in a variety of roles, including left-back, midfield and as a winger. Reports suggest Emanuelson is already in London to finalise the deal.

Mohamed Al Fayed: Fulham "working hard" in transfer market

Fulham chairman Mohamed Al Fayed has insisted that the club are "working hard" to bring new players to Craven Cottage.

However, the 84-year-old has warned supporters that they may not be able to make any additions before tomorrow's 11pm deadline.

"We have been working hard in the transfer market to identify players that could add to the squad and make an immediate difference," he wrote in Fulham's matchday programme.

"This is not an easy task and regardless of how much you invest, getting the right player at this time of year is the most important thing."

Speculation this afternoon has linked the Whites with a move for Tottenham Hotspur's Tom Huddlestone.

Fulham v West Ham preview stats

Fulham's Steve Sidwell has made more defensive contributions than any other midfielder in the Premier League ahead of their game against West Ham.

Both Fulham and West Ham will view Wednesday night's Premier League clash at Craven Cottage as a chance to revive their seasons and ease fears of possible relegation scraps.

Fulham have won just two of their last 10 games in all competitions and sit five points above the bottom three, but West Ham have won just one of their last 10 and are only two points better off than the Cottagers. However, an away win for Sam Allardyce's win could move them back into the top half.

Emmanuel Frimpong could make his Fulham debut after joining on loan from Arsenal, while Andy Carroll could return to the visitors' squad after overcoming a knee problem. The Hammers also have a possible debutant in the shape of former Middlesbrough defender Emanuel Pogatetz, who has signed on loan from Wolfsburg.

Fulham are the 5/4 favourites with Paddy Power to claim all three points,  with West Ham priced at 9/4 and the draw also at 9/4. If you are a new customer, Paddy Power will give you a £20 free bet when you deposit £10.

Here are the latest statistics from the Premier League's official Player Performance Index ahead of the game:

Fulham suffered a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City in their last Premier League game.

Fulham midfielder Steve Sidwell has won 62 tackles this season, the joint second highest total in the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index.

Sidwell has also made 15 clearances, 77 interceptions and six blocks, meaning he has contributed defensively every 10 minutes 28 seconds this season, the best rating of any midfielder in the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index.

West Ham lost 5-1 to a rampant Arsenal side last time out in the Premier League. A solitary Jack Collison strike was scant consolation for the Irons in that game.

Joey O'Brien is one of three West Ham players in the top 100 of the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index. O'Brien has made 89 defensive contributions this season (tackles won, clearances, interceptions and blocks), averaging one every 16 minutes 14 seconds.

O'Brien, however, has won just 48.9% of the 45 tackles he has attempted this season.

Goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen, meanwhile, is one of eight goalkeepers in the Premier League to have made over 100 saves. Jaaskelainen has made 103 saves overall, conceding 33 goals at a rate of 3.12 saves per goal.

Spur of the moment: Fulham make surprise £5m bid for Tom Huddlestone

Midfield enforcer is out-of-favour at White Hart Lane and appears open to a move across town

Hair today, gone tomorrow? Huddlestone has found playing time restricted at Spurs
Mike Hewitt

Fulham have made a surprise move for out-of-favour Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone, reports the Daily Mail.

The Cottagers have made a £5million offer for the powerful midfielder who has worked with boss Martin Jol during their time together at White Hart Lane.

The 26-year-old moved to Spurs from Derby in 2005 and has made over 150 appearances for the club.

However, Huddlestone has fallen down the pecking order in North London and has repeatedly been linked with moves away.

Meanwhile, Fulham are close to completing the loan signing of AC Milan midfielder Urby Emanuelson.

The Dutch international can play in a variety of positions including central midfield, left back and as a winger.

"I will finish the season with a loan deal," Emanuelson confirmed.

"I have worked in a very good way with him (Martin Jol) at Ajax and am happy as he gives me the chance.

Fulham FC Now Debt Free

Fulham Football Club are now debt free according to their latest financial results for the season 2011/12.

Following the previous season's announcement of record profits, the most significant development is the club ending the financial year with no debt, having repaid any external indebtedness and Chairman Mohamed Al Fayed converting his previous loans to the club into equity.

Fulham reported an operating profit of £1.2m for the year ended 30 June 2012, with revenue figures of £79.3m, including £3.4m attributed to participation in the UEFA Europa League.

They also noted an increase in attendance of 0.6 per cent which contributed to its overall occupancy figure of 98.4 per cent for the season. Both of these figures are a club record for its time in the Premier League.

The club's Chairman, Al Fayed, said: "Fulham continues to make great strides and, following planning permission for the re-development of the Riverside Stand, we will continue to prosper and grow.

"For almost the last 15 years, I have ensured the club moves in the right direction and remains true to our proud history, strong heritage and past traditions."

Premier League: Fulham v West Ham match preview
A
look ahead to tonight's Premier League fixture at Craven Cottage

The Cottagers will be looking to bounce back after the weekend's FA Cup defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford, and end a poor run of form which has seen Martin Jol's side win just two of their last fifteen league games.

With another match against Manchester United at the weekend, Jol knows the importance of this match, with anything less than victory likely to lead to pressure on his job. The Dutchman has labelled tonight's fixture as "vital".

West Ham come into tonight's London derby with a dreadful record of seven away losses. Only Reading have lost more games on the road than the Hammers this season.

Emmanuel Frimpong could make his debut for the home side after signing on loan from Arsenal for the rest of the season. Full back Kieran Richardson is available after missing the cup-tie against his old club Manchester United with a calf strain.

West Ham have Marouane Chamakh available for selection with the loanee having been ineligible to face parent club Arsenal in the Hammer's last league outing. West Ham are hopeful Andy Carroll cam overcome a knee problem and return to the squad. Defender Emmanuel Pogatetz could make his debut after signing on loan from German club Wolfsburg until the end of the season.

Fulham reject QPR's second bid for Hangeland as Redknapp looks to shore up defence

Fulham have refused an increased bid from Queens Park Rangers for captain Brede Hangeland.

Rangers are close to bringing in Christopher Samba to replace Ryan Nelsen but have still not given up their pursuit of Hangeland, 31, as Harry Redknapp looks to bring in at least one experienced Premier League defender.

Going nowhere: Fulham have rejected a second bid from QPR for Brede Hangeland

The Norway centre half is out of contract at Craven Cottage in the summer and has so far delayed signing an extension to bring him in line with top earners such as Mark Schwarzer and Dimitar Berbatov.

Fulham, though, have so far resisted all Rangers' attempts to lure Hangeland to Loftus Road.

Tall order: Hangeland's contract is up at the end of the season

Manager Martin Jol said last week: 'He's our strength and we would be silly to get rid of him or sell him now.'

QPR missed out on another target as Porto defender Rolando opted to join Italian side Napoli.
