whats with the battering of rodders on here all of a sudden?? i think hes a quality player hope he gets some games he certainly IS prem standard in my opinion but obviously hes a bit down the pecking order with berba and bent but last season to be fair we didnt see too much of him and when he played he stretched opposition defences much better than berba did creating more space for our midfield he took his chance well at newcastle (won us the game) and got man of the match imo and i hope to see him this season a bit thoughtss???

I have always been a fan. Fans who complain about Rodders expect him to score with the one chance he has and somehow create chances from awful service. With better service he still offers something nobody else does and creates space for others.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Big Martin Jol

He got us one or two crucial goals last season but since he's joined us he's been as inconsistent as you can get. With Berbatov, Bent, Ruiz, Taarabt and possibly Kasami fighting over those two forward places it's difficult to see where he's going to get a game.

He was useless in pre season. Awful touch, no where near PL standard.

If you expected Rodallega to score a buttload of goals when we signed him, you were bound to be disappointed and bitter. Hugo brings a lot to the team, but he's not a great goalscorer. Last season -- when our forward line played as if the pitch was made of treacle -- he gave us some pace and menace as a late sub.

Some folks believe that every forward should score 20 goals and that's the only real job they have. If you think that way, you're not going to like Rodallega. Me? I knew his limitations before we signed him. He did better last season than I thought he would, and since we still have no pacy striker on the team, I'm glad we still have him.

have to say I agree with that, he has the first touch of a brick wall, I don't if it is because he is trying too hard to make the grade or what but he was poor in the games I saw.

funny one...I never admired him at Wigan but thought that if Jol liked him he must have something. I have seen him play a few times now at the cottage and I find him to be lacking in basic technique which I would expect of footballers in league 2 to have let alone premiership. His first touch in particular and composure in front of goal with his feet.

I accept he runs, but don't think he runs intelligently. I think he is good in the air. I agree that he has pace and can create space for other players.

He doesn't score enough.

Max Headroom

But he always tries hard

St Eve

He goes into the same category as Richardson, Sidwell and Senderos. Tries hard but just not good enough for the premiership

Enter the Frei

I stood up for him last year because despite his obvious deficiencies he stretched the game when he played and at least offered something different. Now though we have Bent who will do the same job, but better. I'm fine with keeping him but he's not good enough to be getting starts with the first team.

Rodallega is a good player, if Bent picks up an injury he will be needed he still has a role to play this season

A poor first touch can sometimes create unexpected chances for striker though :54:

Rodallega is a hard worker and as stated above, does well with poor service. I find he just lacks a bit of composure infront of goal. He's decent enough for a 3rd choice striker.
