Lawro's Predictions - Fulham vs Arsenal

Who would have thought that Fulham would have bought more players by this stage of the season than Arsenal? They have bought well, too.

I felt the Cottagers still needed a midfielder but they have got a quality one in Scott Parker and Martin Jol's squad looks strong.

Winning at Sunderland was a great start and this will be a real test for Arsenal.

I watched the Gunners against Fenerbache in their Champions League qualifier in midweek and, although it took them until the second half to really get going, they were convincing winners.

Their home defeat to Aston Villa was a bad result but it was blown out of proportion because it was the first weekend of the season - they did not actually play that badly.

Whatever happens in this game, people are going to be talking about who Arsene Wenger could or should buy, and that will continue until the transfer window shuts.

Sunderland result flattered us, performance was not good. However, i tip us to get 3 points out of this game. Hopefully dejag will be back and we dont start with boateng.

The Sunderland result was a fine defensive performance - it was not pretty but if you can stop the opposition scoring the result will always be a win or a draw. The fact is that although they threatened and dominated possession Sunderland were never going to score by shooting from will outside the penalty area and Hangeland didn't let Altidore get his head on the ball all afternoon.

Arsenal have played pretty football for several season and won nothing, but the other top four teams have always been able to win ugly.

Maybe we need to be looking for a good result, rather that a good performance!

Arsenal were poor last week so they will be good this week. We were able to defend against a Sunderland side that seemed unable to shoot on target. Arsenal will not be as bad. I would take a draw and also hope to see how the new Fulham side can attack against a top 4 or 5 side.

If we play poorly and find a result then that is fine. If we play well (have a go) then lose, few will be upset. Play without trying to harm them and lose without Arsenal breaking into second gear and we will be back to worrying about the side and Jol.

Jol will have plenty of options for a change. That in itself makes the game very interesting.

I was just saying in the office that I cannot call this one at all.

Had Arsenal been at full strength, then I would say that they would win all day long, but they have absolutely no defenders available to them.  So I would guess that they will go for us from the off, but that could leave a multitude of space for Berba, Ruiz and possibly Bent to hammer them in.

It's going to be a cracking game, I think.

Saying that, I can see us being the ones to kickstart their season and smash us like 3-0, 2 from Walcott and a Giroud penalty
