Curbishley Jumps Aboard Fulham Ship

Another piece of news that broke when we were all tucking into our Christmas lunch was the appointment of Alan Curbishley.

The former Charlton and West Ham manager has been appointed as the first-team technical director.

Speaking about the appointment, our first team coach Rene Meulensteen had this to say,

"I`m going to be running the team. He`s another member of the first team staff. He will be a great soundboard."

"He might have been out of management but has kept up with TV appearances. After Martin`s exit, I discussed with Alistair and the chairman the challenges we face. I was delighted they supported the idea."

"Alan has a proven track record and understands full well what it takes to succeed. I look forward to sharing ideas and listening to advice, to ensure Fulham remains in the Premier League."

As an admirer of what Curbishley achieved whilst working as the manager of Charlton Athletic, I feel his addition to the team is a most welcome one and as for staying up, the more hands to the pump the better is all I`ll say.

Dempsey Return Confirmed!

Clint is coming home!

During, or was it immediately before, the Christmas festivities Fulham Football Club officially confirmed that Clint Dempsey would be returning to Craven Cottage on a two month loan deal.

Dempsey, currently on the books of Seattle Sounders, wishes to stay active during the MLS close season and with the World Cup approaching the USA captain had this to say about his return,

"It feels good to be back."

"Going into a World Cup year, I want to get back to playing at the highest level. Hopefully I can make sure we stay in the Premier League."

Welcome home Clint!

Keep Taarabt?

The signing of Adel Taarabt, albeit on loan for the season, excited everybody back in August.

There`s no doubting that Taarabt has exceptional talent but the problem is that nobody has, as of yet, managed to harness that talent for the benefit of the team.

There are mutterings in the media, this morning, Harry Redknapp doesn`t particularly want Taarabt back leaving the way open for the 24 year-old, if the conditions are right, to become a Fulham player on a permanent basis.

Our current manager (or is it head-coach) is keen to keep Adel with Rene Meulensteen remarking to the comment hungry media,

"I`d like him to stay. Name anyone else in the Premier League with the sort of skill level he`s got."

"If we can make him tick like that week in, week out, he`s a great player for us."

Would you like to see Fulham keep Adel Taarabt on a permanent basis?

Until Fulham Came Along.............

No! I must stop thinking like that!

I must remain a believer, I must keep the faith but then again when you`ve lost as many as we have in recent weeks and only have the one Premier League win in recent weeks to savour, it is hard.

So what is the fool on about you must be thinking?

Well, according to the statistics, our opponents this afternoon, Norwich City, have played four Premier League games on Boxing Day and in those four Premier League games they`ve yet to score a goal.......................until we come along!

Cardiff and Fulham Make Offers For Roma Midfielder Michael Bradley

Cardiff City have rekindled their interest in Roma midfielder Michael Bradley but will face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Fulham.

According to Sky Italia, American Bradley is subject to offers from both clubs with Roma already eyeing potential replacements.

Cardiff had attempted a €7m move in the summer, at a time when Sunderland were also eyeing the 26-year-old.

Bradley spent half a season on loan at Aston Villa in the second half of 2010/11 from Borussia Monchengladbach before spending time at Chievo and then on to Roma.

Injury has restricted Bradley to just five starts out of 11 appearances in Serie A and a winter exit could prove a win-win for all parties.

Both Cardiff and Fulham are struggling in the Premier League, though the latter could have a slight advantage in terms of the transfer.

The Cottagers recently completed a loan move for former striker and Bradley's compatriot Clint Dempsey.

Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen will be hoping Dempsey can sell the idea of Fulham to Bradley, as the club lie just three points above the foot of the table in 19th.
